It is important to understand that no theory will be taught during your IDC. On the second day, we will focus on skills demonstrations in confined water. The IDC Prep is optional. However, it is highly recommended, if it has been a while since your Divemaster’s training. Assistant Instructor (AI) The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is the first part of the IDC. Scheduled over 4 days, it can be conducted anytime of the year. This is an excellent preparation for the full IDC and makes you more employable than a Divemaster. The AI rating will allow you teach the academic portions of all PADI courses as well as the Peak Performance Buoyancy and Project Aware Specialty courses. Assistant Instructors can conduct on their own the PADI Bubblemaker, Seal team and Discover Scuba Diving programs. Emergency First Response Instructor Being a first aid instructor is a mandatory prerequisite to become PADI OWSI. Our Emergency First Response Instructor Course is a relaxed two half-days program. Primary and secondary care are covered together with Care for Children, and Automated External Defibrillator use. As EFR is a non diving course, you can teach it to anyone like your friends and family! Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)- Crossover program If you are an PADI Assistant Instructor or Instructor from other training organizations wanting to cross-over to the PADI System of diver education, this is the course for you. The OWSI course is conducted over 6 days following the AI portion. PADI Specialty Instructor and Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Choose from an extensive list that includes Deep, Enriched Air, Navigation, Search & Recovery, Night, Digital Underwater Photography, Fish Identification, Shark AWARE and emergency O2 provider. Earning PADI Specialty Instructor ratings allows you to teach a wide array of exciting courses in special interest areas. O2 provider and Enriched air Instructor specialties do not require dives .To become an EANX instructor, you must be a certified enriched Air Diver and have a minimum of 10 logged dives on Enriched Air. The MSDT, Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating is the first step of your Instructor continuing education . You will reach this level by obtaining 5 specialty instructor ratings and by issuing at least 25 diving certifications. IDC Staff Instructor IDC Staff Instructors work with Course Directors as important team members in the instructor training process. As a Staff Instructor you may assist IDC programs and teach the PADI Assistant Instructor Course. Our IDC Staff Course gives you at least two full-days with the Course Director prior to an IDC, then you'll take part in a complete IDC program. Even if you don't have the goal of becoming a Course Director, the Staff Course will give you a real "vitamin injection" in your existing teaching techniques. Instructor Exam (IE) The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is the final step to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. This 2 days program is conducted by staff members of PADI International, and not by your course directors. This ensures impartiality and fairness during the testing process. The IE comprises four sections : Section 1 Diving Theory - closed-book examination with a passing score of 75% or higher on each the following subjects: Physics ,Physiology, Equipment, General Skills and Environment, Recreational Dive Planner and Decompression theory PADI Systems, Standards and Procedures - open-book examination with a passing score of 75% or higher. Section 2 Confined Water – Briefing, demonstration, evaluation and debriefing of one skill from the Open Water or Rescue Course to fellow candidates acting as students. Skill Evaluation Circuit – Demonstration of five skills from the PADI Open Water Course. Section 3 Knowledge Development Presentation – A sample teaching presentation lasting between 5-10 minutes. Specific assignments are made before the program. Section 4 Open Water: Briefing, evaluation and debriefing two skills from any PADI course to fellow candidates acting as students. Open Water Rescue Examination: Response, recovery, resuscitation, transport and equipment removal of a diver simulating unconsciousness on the surface. To complete the IE, you must successfully clear all four sections with a minimum passing score. If failing in one or two sections, then the candidate must attend another IE and complete only that section. Successful IE candidates May 11th 2015 LIFE IN ANDAMAN ISLANDS Floating in splendid isolation in the Bay of Bengal is an archipelago of 572 islands, islets and rocks, stretching over an area of more than 700 kilometers from north to south. Known as Andaman and Nicobar Islands, this Union Territory is a part of the Republic of India. Once part of a hill range, stretching from Myanmar to Indonesia, these undulating islands are covered with dense forests and endless variety of exotic flowers and birds. The rare flora and fauna, underwater marine life with crystal clear water and mangrove lined creeks, offer a dream view of the rare gifts of nature. Heart of all tourism in the Andamans, Havelock is a tranquil laid back island where pristine white sandy beaches welcome you and spectacular diving make your holiday a splendid one. DIVING IN ANDAMAN ISLANDS “Journey to the bay of Bengal in Asia and explore the magical Andaman Islands – a wondrous realm of stunning marine and coral reefs, swimming elephants, pristine beaches and mysterious tribes who exist beyond the reach of time. Pass through shimmering gates of coral and discover volcanic gardens of an underwater paradise. Here lions, unicorns and butterflies masquerade as fish. Dugongs play in the sea-grasses of shallow reefs that fringe the outer islands and every dive trip brings the promise of exploration and new discoveries.” – Jacques Yves Cousteau Although dive pioneer Jacques Cousteau dived the waters around Andaman Islands quite some time ago- it’s only now that they are becoming one of the world’s newest diving destinations. With water temperature not dropping below 26 degrees Celsius and averaging 28 degrees, diving here is extremely comfortable and enjoyable. Visibility in our surrounding waters can vary from 5 meters to 40 meters depending on the site and season. Currents can range from nothing to strong and are completely dependent on the dive site and tides. The dive sites are between 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes by boat and vary quite a bit in what the individual site offer, with regards to topography and fish life. We have dive sites suited for all levels of divers.
