A) Within School
Annex 2
Problem Encountered
Food waste can still be measured in the canteen due to the
inconsistency in the amount of food given by the canteen vendors
• Students are encouraged to remind friends to finish their
food or ask for LESS food
• Posters in the canteen act as reminders
• Teachers on duty help to encourage the pupils not the
waste food
What We Have Learnt
Through the projects and collaborations, we learnt:
i) With a heart and good values, we are driven to take actions to
safeguard, nurture and cherish environment
 everyone can contribute his/her part for the environment
despite their ages (eg reduce food waste)
(ii) Environment does not purely refer to physical only, it can also
mean the things that it is made up of. Eg People around us.
Hence, contribution and reaching out to the environment can
come in different forms such as “Actions” and “Values”:
 reducing food waste by being responsible
 reusing food waste through recycling-making compost
 Appreciating hardwork, perseverance and struggle that has
gone into every grain of rice
 encouraging others to reduce food waste
What We Have Learnt
(iii) Every individual’s action counts when it comes to
safeguard, nurture and cherish environment
 Impacts of food waste
 Ways to reduce food waste
 Rationales for not wasting food
(iv)going green can be fun, easy, creative and meaningful.
For example
Using food skin to make compost
 Wonders of nature-decomposition in natural process
 Result: rich soil for plants
