2009 YUKON & YUKON XL FORWARD THINKING.

2009 YUKON & YUKON XL
FORWARD THINKING.
General Motors continues to invest in technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lessen
the dependence on petroleum. Beyond today’s hybrids and alternative fuel solutions, GM is developing
game-changing technology with the upcoming Volt plug-in electric car and a test fleet of zero-emissions
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles already on the road.
GM also demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability by the way it produces this brochure.
Research has told us that people like you continue to value printed brochures. So GM prints them on Forest Stewardship
Council-certified paper. The goal is to protect wildlife habitat, ensure clean water and to keep forests healthy.
It’s just one more way that GM integrates green thinking into every aspect of its activities. Just like you.

YUKON & YUKON XL
THERE’S NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE.
When you’re engineering and building full-size SUVs, experience counts – and no one’s experience runs
deeper than GMC’s. We’ve been in the truck business for over a century, and we’ve been advancing
the state of the art in full-size SUVs for more than 70 years. Today, we engineer our Yukon lineup with
serious performance capabilities so they can handle off-road challenges and tough towing assignments
with ease – and that’s just our starting point. We also place a high priority on other attributes. Like
versatility. Driver and passenger comfort. Efficiency. And, of course, safety. Today’s Yukon family also
offers the widest range of choice available in the full-size SUV segment, including our supremely luxurious
Denali models and the world’s most advanced full-size SUV, the extraordinarily efficient Yukon Hybrid.
The professional grade Yukon and Yukon XL. Drive one, and feel the difference experience makes.
*Rating is for Yukon, Yukon XL 1500 and Yukon Hybrid. Five-star rating is for driver and front-passenger seating postions in the frontal crash test and for the front and rear seating
positions in the side-impact crash test. Models tested with standard side-impact head curtain air bags. U.S. government ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration’s (NHTSA’s) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) (safercar.gov).

TWO-MODE HYBRID
THE STRENGTH OF YUKON, NOW AVAILABLE IN GREEN.
A full-size, full-strength SUV that’s as fuel-efficient as some mid-size cars?
It’s not just possible, it’s here, thanks to the visionary engineering of GMC.
Yukon Hybrid’s high-tech two-mode hybrid system includes advanced technologies
like a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride Energy Storage System (ESS), an advanced
Electronically Variable Transmission (EVT) and a regenerative braking system.
It’s capable of running at speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour in zero-emission
electric-only mode, and the electric assist also helps optimize the efficiency of
the 332 horsepower 6.0-litre V8 engine when it’s required. The result? A fullsize Yukon with uncompromised performance, a trailer rating of up to 2812
kg (6200 lb.) – and better city fuel efficiency than much smaller vehicles like
the Volkswagen Passat and Ford Fusion, even when they’re equipped with fourcylinder engines.* Yukon Hybrid. Capability and efficiency, together at last.
*Based on Natural Resources Canada’s 2008 Fuel Consumption Guide Ratings.
MODE 1.
MODE 2.
Mode 1 of Yukon Hybrid’s two-mode hybrid system
comes into play at lower speeds when the transmission is
operating in its first and second-gear range. In this mode
the vehicle can run on electric power, engine power or
a combination of the two. Yukon Hybrid’s sophisticated
Hybrid Optimizing System (HOS) always selects the
power source(s) which will propel the vehicle most efficiently.
At higher speeds, where gasoline engines operate with
greater efficiency, Yukon Hybrid switches into Mode 2.
In this mode the gasoline engine is the primary power
source, with the electric motor supplying extra torque
when the HOS determines that added performance
is required. The electric motor also optimizes the
effectiveness of the Yukon Hybrid engine’s Active Fuel
Management® system, as it allows the engine to operate
more often in its more fuel-efficient 4-cylinder mode.

DENALI
ABOVE AND BEYOND.
From their smallest details to their most dramatic breakthroughs, Yukon Denali
and Yukon XL Denali represent GMC’s highest achievement in the art of the
SUV. There’s awesome power under the hood, in the form of an advanced
403 horsepower Vortec 6.2L V8 engineered to run flawlessly on gasoline,
E85 ethanol or any combination of the two. Other highlights include a
smooth-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control
mode, AutoRide™ suspension and full-time all-wheel drive. Yukon Denali is
even distinguished in its appearance, with unique headlights, chrome-finished
20-inch aluminum wheels and, of course, the Denali signature upper and
lower bright honeycomb grilles.
New for 2009 is available side blind
zone alert which uses radar beams
to sweep adjacent lanes of traffic.
It then provides a visual warning in
the exterior rear-view mirror to alert
you to vehicles entering the blind
zone on either side of your Denali.

DENALI
THE LAP OF LUXURY.
On the inside, the Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali epitomize the best in
contemporary upscale styling, with premium materials, finely textured surfaces
and subtle chrome accents. Both models feature spacious seating for up to
eight with elegant tone-on-tone leather appointments. The driver and frontpassenger seats are heated and cooled for four-season comfort, and heated
second-row bucket seats are also standard equipment. For the convenience
of your passengers, every Yukon Denali model is equipped with rear-seat
audio and climate controls, and a rear DVD entertainment system is available.
Yukon Denali also excels at transporting gear, with outstanding cargo capacity,
a power rear liftgate with remote control and the cutting-edge convenience of
standard power release fold-and-tumble second-row seats. Who knew the lap
of luxury could be so accommodating?

YUKON & YUKON XL
ENGINEERING THAT RAISES THE BAR.
With their rigid, computer-designed frames, abundant
V8 power and impressive trailer ratings, Yukon and
Yukon XL possess all the capability you expect in a
full-size GMC sport-utility vehicle. There’s even an
available Yukon XL 2500 model engineered to make
light work of the toughest jobs. But that’s only part of
the story. As a result of GMC’s innovative engineering,
Yukon and Yukon XL also overachieve in terms of driver
and passenger comfort, safety, fuel efficiency and
sheer driving pleasure. In the process, they set a higher
standard for every other SUV maker in the world.

INTERIOR
BIG-TIME COMFORT.
On the inside, Yukon and Yukon XL are stylish, roomy, quiet and extremely
comfortable vehicles. Supportive seating for up to nine occupants is available
on Yukon models and standard on Yukon XL, and the power release foldand-tumble second-row seats available on SLT models make entry and exit a
breeze for third-row passengers. The tri-zone climate control system allows the
driver, front passenger and rear passengers to maintain their own preferred
temperatures. Yukon and Yukon XL also offer available heated seats in both
the first and second rows.*
*Outboard seating positions only.
The available DVD entertainment
system entertains your rear
passengers with a flip-down
203 mm (8 in.) LCD colour monitor.
New for 2009, a third-row DVD
entertainment system is also
available on Yukon XL models.

VERSATILITY
AS CHANGEABLE AS YOUR NEEDS.
When you have a large load to carry, Yukon and Yukon XL are at their very best.
With a full quota of passengers on board, Yukon can accommodate 479 litres
of gear behind the rear seat, while Yukon XL can handle a massive 1297 litres.
To create additional cargo space for even bigger loads, the second- and
third-row seats both fold away easily, and the third-row seat can be removed.
So configured, Yukon’s maximum cargo capacity is 3084 litres and Yukon XL’s
is a vast 3891 litres. Both interiors are also designed to pass the ultimate test:
carrying 4' x 8' sheets of building material.

CONTROLS
DESIGNED FOR CONFIDENT CONTROL.
In Yukon’s driver’s seat, you’ll enjoy a sense of ease and confidence that is
derived directly from the interior’s thoughtful design. All around you are large
expanses of tinted glass that offer an excellent view of your driving situation.
Clear, easy-to-read analogue gauges provide the information you need at a
glance, with additional data available from the standard multi-function
Driver Information Centre. Then there are Yukon’s switches and controls, all
logically designed and positioned precisely where you expect them to be.
You’ll soon find yourself making many adjustments almost intuitively, without
ever taking your concentration off the road ahead.
The available Rearview Camera
System displays a wide-angle view
of the area behind your Yukon any
time the transmission’s reverse
gear is engaged. The image
appears on the interior rear-view
mirror or on the DVD navigation
system screen when so equipped.

1 – Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) includes vehicle, passengers, equipment and cargo.
2 – Payloads are approximate and will change with the addition of optional or aftermarket equipment.
Consult your dealer or equipment supplier for details.
3 – Trailer Weight (also called Trailer Towing Capacity) is the weight of a trailer, its load or contents plus any other weight added to the
tow vehicle. Many trailer towing applications require optional equipment. Maximum trailer weights require the optional heavy-duty
cooling package (option K5L) if not already equipped. For more information on trailer towing, ask your sales consultant or go to gm.ca
