SCHOOL OF ACADEMICS, APPLIED ARTS and TOURISM Early Childhood Education Program by Distance Additional Documentation for Admission In addition to meeting the academic entrance requirements to the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program by Distance, applicants must submit the documentation as outlined below. Please Note: Applicants are to submit original documents to Learner Services and keep a copy for their own use when attending field placements as scheduled during the program. 1. A current record of immunizations There are two acceptable records: 1.1. A Record of Immunization, obtained from a Regional Health Authority or 1.2. A letter from the applicant, indicating that s/he is not immunized or is unable to obtain an immunization record. Please note that provincial government standards state that if a person is not immunized or if their immunization status is unknown, that person may be excluded from the child care service for the duration of an outbreak of communicable disease. This may particularly impact completion of the field placement courses that are scheduled during the ECE program. Contact information for applicants to obtain their immunization record can be found at: http://www.health.gov.nl.ca/health/publichealth/cdc/immunizations.html 2. A clear Certificate of Conduct (CoC), including the ‘vulnerable sector’ category, from the RNC or RCMP, to include all jurisdictions in which the applicant has lived in the past 10 years When an applicant applies to the RNC or RCMP for a CoC, s/he must ensure that s/he requests that the vulnerable sector check be done. When the applicant receives the CoC document from the police, the vulnerable sector check from the RNC is on a separate page, so the applicant will receive 2 pages. The RCMP vulnerable sector check is indicated on the same one page as the CoC. 3. A satisfactory Child Protection Records Check The applicant applies to the Child Care Services office in the area where s/he resides. An application form can be obtained by contacting an office as outlined below. The application form is submitted to Child Care Services, which will provide the Child Protection Record Check once completed to the applicant. This Check is to be submitted to the College.
