Fan Coil Accessory Installation Kit for ERVXXNVA 5428 Installation Instructions INTRODUCTION Install the 5428 Fan Coil Accessory Installation Kit with the ERVXXNVA Energy Recover Ventilator to control the ERV when installed with a fan coil. A 115-volt receptacle must be installed within 6 feet of the ERV for power. The ERV will turn on/off with the fan signal from the thermostat. Note: “G” signal required – not for use with communicating controls. INSTALLATION 1. Install the ERV cabinet and provide ducting to the ERV in accordance with the instructions provided with the unit. WARNING ! Electrical Shock Hazard Failure to follow this warning could result in personal injury or death. Before installing or servicing system, always turn off main power to system. There may be more than one disconnect switch 2. Install a standard 115-volt receptacle within 6 feet of the ERV electrical control box. (The ERV will draw 1.3 amps at high speed and less at medium and low speeds.) 3. At the thermostat, turn the Mode to OFF and Fan to OFF. 4. Open the electrical enclosure and clip any wire tie that captures the white wire that connect the receptacle to the 2-pole terminal block of the ERV. 5. Disconnect the blue and yellow wire from the 2-pole terminal block near the end of the enclosure, and remove the terminal block (see Figure 1). 6. Clip the ends off the blue and yellow wires and put a wire nut (supplied) on each to prevent shorting them. 7. Remove the screws from the transformer and move it toward the “star” grommet – there are two holes in the enclosure base for relocating the transformer (see Figure 2). If the white, black, red and orange wires of the transformer are not long enough to permit moving it to the new location, use the small jumper wires included with the kit to extend the transformer wires. Install the relay as shown (see Figure 3) with the two terminals that are in the opposite direction as the set of four terminals facing the same side as the blue and yellow wires of the transformer. 9. Disconnect the white wire that connects the receptacle to the 2-pole terminal block from the terminal block and install on on the relay (see Figure 4). Disconnect the single black wire from the “High” terminal Figure 5 - Install Supplied Black/White Jumper Wires of the 3-pole terminal block and connect it to the relay (see Figure 4). 10. Install the supplied white jumper to the relay and the 2-pole terminal block as shown (see Figure 5). Install the supplied black jumper to the relay and the “High” terminal of the 3-pole terminal block as shown. 11. Run a 2-wire cable (not supplied) from the fan coil control to the relay. Route the cable through the “star” grommet. Install the supplied quick connect terminals to the end of the wires and attach the wires to the coil of the relay (see Figure 6). Figure 6 - Wire Relay Coil to Fan Coil 12. At the fan coil, attach one wire to the fan (G) terminal and the other to the 24VAC-common (C) terminal (see Figure 7 – System Schematic). 13. Replace the electrical enclosure cover and use the provided power cord to plug the ERV into the receptacle. 14. Follow the Start Up section in the ERV Installation Manual to complete the installation. Figure 7 - System Schematic 10010566, B2206216A Copyright 2013 CAC / BDP • 7310 W.
