Sporting Regulations
S1.
DESCRIPTION
S1.1
The 2015 Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge shall be run in conjunction with the 2015 CAMS
Australian Rally Championship.
S1.2
All events in the Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge shall be conducted under the provisions of the
International Sporting Code of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the National
Competition Rules (NCR) of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd (CAMS), the 2015 CAMS
Australian Rally Championship Sporting Regulations, the National Rally Code as published by CAMS,
these Sporting and Technical Regulations published for the Series and the Supplementary Regulations
published by the organiser of each event.
S2.
CALENDAR
The 2015 Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge shall be conducted over the following events:

VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY
S3.1
Each vehicle must conform to the 2015 Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge Technical Regulations.
S4.
ELIGIBLE CREW
S4.1
Each driver and co-driver must hold a current and valid CAMS National or International Rally licence
(refer General Regulations of CAMS Manual of Motor Sport).
S4.2
For the purposes of point scoring, driver and co-driver shall be treated separately.
S4.3
Each Crew is required to present current versions of the following items at Documentation:

CAMS Pass Book/Competition licences (Competitor [Entrant], Driver & Co-Driver)

Civil Driving licence for both Crew members (not required if the Co-Driver has a Navigator only
licence)


CAMS-affiliated car club membership (Driver & Co-Driver)

CAMS vehicle log book

Vehicle licence/permit/registration papers

Third Party insurance extension (Queensland registered vehicles)
To be eligible for Series awards each competitor must have started a minimum of 2 of the 4 rounds
shown at Article 2
S5.
AWARDING OF POINTS
S5.1
QLD, ACT and SA shall have 2 Heats/Legs and Rally Australia (NSW) shall have 3 Legs. Points shall be
allocated as follows:
40, 34, 30, 26, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 for places first to twentieth for
each Heat/Leg
S6.
TIES
S6.1
A tie for any position in individual Legs or Heats or in each event shall be broken by awarding the higher
place to the driver with the most stage wins.
S6.2
A tie for event awards shall be broken by awarding the higher place to the driver with the lowest total
time (including any penalties) over the two Legs/Heats
S6.3
A tie for any position at the end of the season shall be broken on the basis of the greater number of
higher places in accordance with Article 5 of the CAMS General Conditions for All Titles.
S7.
EVENT AWARDS
S7.1
The following awards are the minimum which must be presented (where applicable):

S8.
SERIES AWARDS
S8.1
Awards shall be made to the driver and co-driver of the respective titles of:
Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge winning Driver and Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge
winning Co-driver
S8.2
Points scored in each Leg/ Heat shall be taken into account in determining the positions at the end of the
season.
S8.3
The driver & co-driver to score the highest number of points shall be declared the winners of the 2015
Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge.
S9.
ADVERTISING and SIGNAGE
S9.1
By entering any event in the Side by Side Challenge, persons and corporations agree to refer to it only
by its full title, The Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge.
Any advertising or promotional matter must include the relevant full title.
S9.2
Each vehicle entered in any event in the Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge shall be required to
provide the areas outlined in Appendix A to these regulations for the purpose of compulsory advertising.
S9.3
Competition numbers shall be supplied by the organiser of each event.
S9.4
All signage shown in the Supplementary Regulations for each event must be affixed to the vehicle prior
to passing pre event scrutiny and remain on the vehicle for the duration of the event. Failure to meet this
condition shall result in the competitor being reported to the Stewards of the Meeting for consideration of
a penalty.

APPENDIX A
VEHICLE SIGNAGE DIAGRAM
The following advertising is required for each vehicle competing in the Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge
DOOR PANEL
• Organiser’s Advertising - Size: 150mm high x 500mm wide
NUMBERS
• 200mm high with a stroke width of 25 mm
Competitors must provide a rigid panel with a white background, minimum 250mm high x 350mm wide on each
side of the vehicle behind the driver & co-driver.
Driver & Co-driver’s names may be shown on this panel
AREA A – BONNET STRIP
• Strip along leading edge of the bonnet, reserved for the series sponsor (East Coast Bullbars).
• Size: 120mm high x 540mm wide.
• A standard sign shall be provided which shall be either a light colour (for vehicles with a dark background) or a
dark colour (for vehicles with a light background).
AREA B – REAR BODYWORK
• Space on rear bodywork reserved for series sponsor (East Coast Bullbars).
• Size: 85mm high x400mm wide
Note: All signage & numbers shall be supplied by the event organisers. No event or series signage may be cut or
altered in any way and must be used in the size supplied.

Technical Regulations
T1.
GENERAL
Each vehicle shall comply with Schedule R - Requirements for all Rally Cars, these technical regulations and
where specified, the General Requirements for Off Road Vehicles (GR)
Each vehicle must remain in standard specification as produced by the manufacturer unless a freedom is
provided below in these regulations. The onus is on the competitor to provide evidence of eligibility, which may
include supporting information from the relevant brochure or official documents issued by the vehicle
manufacturer, importer or distributor.
T2.
ELIGIBILITY
The following vehicles are eligible for the Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge:

T3.
(a)
COACHWORK
The coach/bodywork shall be original in appearance, though original and aftermarket coach/bodywork
accessories may be fitted, such as a windscreen or rear tray deletion kit, provided the original external
shape can be identified.

(b)
A securely fitted panel of rigid material such as aluminium or GRP shall be fitted to the door opening to
restrain limbs within the confines of the vehicle.
(c)
T4.
A roof plate complying with Off Road General Requirements (GR) 13 shall be fitted.
INTERIOR
(a)
The interior of the vehicle is free except those items regulated by Schedule R.
(b)
Seat Mountings may be replaced to allow for aftermarket seats to be installed. Tube must be a minimum of
30mm x 30mm x 2.0mm SHS. Mountings must bolt into the original factory position.
(c)
Each vehicle shall be fitted with a Type A or B harness for each occupant and a window net on each side
of the vehicle (refer Schedule I - Harnesses/Window Nets).
T5.
(a)
CHASSIS
The original chassis must be retained and be unmodified save for the addition of material for strengthening
purposes or for the addition of the safety cage.
(b)
A safety cage complying with Schedule J - Safety Cage Structures shall be fitted and shall incorporate at
least two uninterrupted door bars. The upper door bar shall be fitted predominantly horizontally and as
high a practicable while still allowing exit from the vehicle by both crew within 10 seconds. Additional
reinforcing of the door area is recommended.
Please note: The original safety cage provided by the vehicle manufacturer may not comply with this
requirement and may need to be replaced. Refer to CAMS if in doubt.
(c)
The vehicle firewall shall comply with the requirements of GR Article 2. An aluminium firewall may replace
the original firewall as long as it uses all the standard mountings and fittings and fits directly in the factory
position.
(d)
T6.
It is permitted to supplement the original floor with a ‘skid plate’ for additional protection.
ENGINE
The engine shall be unmodified from the manufacturer’s original specification save for the following items:
(a)
The exhaust system shall incorporate a silencer, but is otherwise free after the first join. The maximum
noise emission permissible is 96 dB(A) measured as detailed in the Rally Road section of the CAMS
Manual under Rally Cars – Noise Measurement;
(b)
The air filter element is free.

T7.
GEARBOX and TRANSMISSION
(a)
The original gearbox, differential/s and drive shafts shall be used.
(b)
The CVT drive belt is free.
(c)
Gearbox mounts are free as is their number.
(d)
An oil radiator and ancillary components including pump may be added.
(e)
The clutch is free.
T8.
SUSPENSION and STEERING
(a)
Only one shock absorber shall be mounted per wheel, but otherwise each shock absorber is free.
(b)
Each shock absorber mounting point may be moved.
(c)
Suspension and spring mounting points, and all suspension components may be strengthened, by the
addition of material to the original components.
(d)
Suspension springs are free subject to retaining the original type of spring, eg, coil, torsion bar, leaf.
(e)
Suspension bushes are free.
(f)
Each sway bar is free. Additional sway bars may be added.
(g)
The use of limit straps or other devices to limit the downward travel of the suspension is permitted.
(h)
Power steering may be added.
T9.
FUEL and FUEL TANK
(a)
Fuel shall be Pump Fuel as defined in CAMS Schedule G, Article 2.1.
(b)
The fuel tank shall comply with GR5.
T10. WHEELS and TYRES
(a)
Each wheel shall have a maximum diameter of 14”.
(b)
Each tyre shall have a maximum OD of:
Can Am – 28”
Polaris – 29”.
(c)
Only ATV tyres may be used. The use of rally tyres is strictly prohibited.

T11. BRAKES
(a)
The original braking system may be replaced by components from other vehicles within the vehicle
manufacturers range.
(b)
The brake pads/linings may be changed.
(c)
The addition of power assistance may be added or, if not fitted originally, a dual‐circuit braking system.
(d)
A handbrake may be added.
T12. ELECTRICAL
(a)
The addition of relays and fuses to the electrical system is allowed.
(b)
All electrical cables are free.
(c)
The make and capacity of the battery is free.
(d)
The nominal voltage of the electrical system must be retained.
T13. MISCELLANEOUS
(a)
Throughout the vehicle nuts, bolts and screws may be replaced by any other nut and/or bolt and/or screw.
(b)
All gaskets are free, provided they are mechanically identical as the original.
(c)
The make and material of bearings are free provided that they are of the original type and dimension; eg,
roller, plain, metal etc.
(d)
All fluid lines are free, as is their location and attachment (including oil, water and brake fluid lines). Any
line passing through a bulk-head must be protected by the use of a grommet. Any oil or water line passing
through the cockpit must be fitted in such a way that the occupants will not be endangered should the line
rupture.
