About The Speaker
Dr. Alika Lafontaine is an anaesthesiologist and medical lead
for the North Zone - Aboriginal Health Program. He is a
national advocate for Indigenous health and serves as vice-president of the Indigenous
Physicians Association Canada, representative forum of the Alberta Medical Association, and
a member of the Indigenous Health Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Physicians
and Surgeons of Canada. He also has academic appointments with the University of Alberta
and First Nations University of Canada. Dr. Lafontaine's research focuses on issues of bias,
racism and discrimination affecting Aboriginal patients.
