Dear Parents,
As is always the case, the term kicked off with a
bang! I am pleased to say that the majority of
boys are now back at school or will be with us
soon.
Our first weekend of sport went really well, as
you can see from the results. The 1st team rugby
had an exceptional win over Prince Edward at
home - we thank all parents and friends who
supported the teams over the weekend.
The Form 2 CAT tests were completed and all
boys were interviewed. It is vital that parents sit
with their sons and discuss their CAT results in
terms of subjects and their progress going forward.
experience! They had two matches in Harare, winning against PE with a draw against St George’s.
The boys played Water Polo against Quest Africa
in a fun event, at Umbonisa Weir on Sunday.

Our Strength and Conditioning coach, Sima
Lunga, attended a seminar in Cape Town which
was ‚amazing‛, in his words. The seminar covered various topics, but amongst them, was
‘identifying sporting talent early in a child’s
career’.

our new 29 seater bus and enjoyed the

UPDATE FROM QUEST AFRICA—15th May 2015
The first of our ‘Come Dine Quesigodini’ evenings was held on Friday and the lads
made a huge effort with an ambitious menu for hungry guests. This will now be an
almost weekly event culminating in an eventual winning team. The weekend was a
very sociable one as both Intakes were in camp and decided to throw a surprise
French themed 21st party for our resident Frenchman, Jean. This was followed on
Sunday morning by a Water Polo game against Falcon at Umbonisa Weir. This was
conveniently brought to an abrupt end after 2 chukkas (whilst Quest were ahead)
due to the icy temperature of the water. This week has seen Intake 1 planning their
projects and presenting them to our very own ‘Dragon’s Den’ and preparing for their
trip to Malawi. They also tried their hand (feet?) at formal dancing, during a 2 hour
‘taster’ lesson in town, which provided a great amount of entertainment. Intake 2
have been testing their business skills during a 2 day simulation game, and are currently out in the Matopos, sleeping under the stars on the top of Silozwe. Variety is
the spice of life!

At Bulawayo Golf Club, Irvine Nembaware played in the A Division (also against

MOUNTAIN BIKING
Liam Beahan came 8th in the U19 elite boys’ race at the Africa Championships in Rwanda.
The Zimbabwean team gave a great performance overall, with all four Zimbabwean boys in
the top 10 and the girls winning the Gold and Silver in their race. We are very proud of Liam
and the Zimbabwean team as a whole for their achievements.

SHOOTING CLUB
10 members of the Shooting Club were hosted by the HQ1 Rifle Brigade and the
army at Woolendale Rifle Range on Sunday 10 May for an FN shoot. There were 40
shottists taking part, and Rhys Herbst came 8th, with Evan Wellock, James Blatch
and Andrew Stodart coming 11th, 12th and 13th respectively. These are excellent results considering that many of the other participants shoot on most weekends.
