Calendar Dates
Term Two
Hi Everyone!
Welcome to Term Two.
The focus of this term for the Families and Friends community is the
preparation for Foundation Day on Saturday 23 May. We will be looking
for lots of volunteers to assist with preparation, cooking and clean up of
our BBQ and drinks stalls again this year. If you are willing to lend a
hand please contact Vanessa Pooley, email the Committee at
[email protected], or turn up on the day.
The Spring Fair Committee are getting into the groove with preparations
for our fair. Please note our change of date – the fair will now be held
on Saturday 29 August.
We have a vacancy on our team for an energetic and organised parent
to help out as the Class Parent Rep Coordinator, with handover and
assistance from our outgoing team member. Amara Edwards has done a
fantastic job in this role and we wish her well with her career.
Please join us for a General Committee Meeting on the first Tuesday of
each month, or have a look at our Facebook group for all up to date
information about what’s going on in our community.
Have a fantastic Term 2.

As with all school events they wouldn’t be a success without the help from
parents volunteering some of their time. On Foundation Day, the Families

work”. Volunteers are needed to cook the BBQ’s, assembly the food and

If you are able to help please email [email protected]
Grab a fellow parent and help out together, even if it is for half an hour.

Families and Friends Fundraising 2015
The first term has been an eventful and fruitful term for the fund-raising activities
undertaken by the Families and Friends Committee and its team of volunteers.
The Pool Deck Café continued to be well supported on swimming training mornings
with many students enjoying a breakfast and/or hot chocolate. On the last day of
training, all swimmers enjoyed a free sausage sizzle and a hot chocolate as a Thank
You for that support. In addition, parents also enjoyed a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate
on those mornings while having a catch-up with friends. With such wonderful support,
just short of $1,500 has been raised during term one.
Our Trivia Night was unfortunately not that well supported this time, but those that did
attend had an awesome fun evening resulting in profits of just over $500, with
excellent feedback from attendees.
$4050
The Junior School disco was again well supported by all year levels with a profit of just
over $1,600. Fifty percent of the profit is given to the SRC for items they wish to
purchase for the benefit of students of the school.
Our school banking continues to grow in strength with many new accounts opened as
well as continuous banking support by students on a weekly basis during the term. We
are hoping to top the $800 received last year for last year’s Term One new accounts
and banking.
Our biggest fund-raiser Spring Fair, is off to a great start with over $700 in stallholder
payments already received plus a $550 sponsorship secured. Our dedicated team is
continuing to secure more stallholders while looking for more sponsorships. If you
know any one who may be interested in holding a stall or becoming a sponsor at
Spring Fair please contact the Committee at [email protected] for more
information.

During Term 3 on Friday 17 July, Families and Friends will be holding a Walk-a-thon fundraising event. Students from all year levels will be invited to participate. Students will be encouraged to get moving by walking as many laps as they can in their allotted
time slot. Sponsorship of students can be per lap or by a one off donation for walking the total time allowed non stop. More
information will be forwarded towards the end of Term 2.

Facebook
Keeping up with everything that is going on is
difficult these days as we are all busy. Did you know
that Families and Friends now has a Facebook page?
It is a closed group for parents and carers of children
who aend Rivermount College. As it is directed
mainly at parents and carers, students cannot be
added to the group. To join the page our Facebook
Administrator must be able to ascertain that you
have a child at the school. This is for the safety of all
our students and parents.

Does your child bank their pocket money? We
have a school banking program at the College
where students can open an account and
bank weekly. By banking through the school
program it raises money for Families and
Friends. We receive a commission on every
deposit made through the school banking
program. This is then used on various projects
within the College. Linde Driessens is the
School Banking Coordinator and can be
contacted on 0408 075 513.
