Petite Equestrian Program
Participants will learn safety on and
around the ponies, grooming techniques,
basic riding skills, and other primary
horsemanship skills. While this is not a
horseback riding lesson, the program
includes an exciting riding component
whereas each child will get to ride about
20 minutes and learn how to properly
mount, dismount, hold the reins and
control the horse/pony at the walk and a
few steps of trot. Sessions aim to help
develop confidence and motor skills while
providing a supportive, fun, nonthreatening environment for the
participants, as well as social interaction
between them. This is a participatory
program for parents who so desire so one
may be asked to occasionally lend a hand.
Parents/guardians must stay on

Creative Drama Camp
p
Our drama camps are based upon the
Creative Drama philosophy which is
different than the philosophy of a Theater
Camp. Most theater programs are
designed with a performance as the focal
point and students audition for parts early
in the week then study their parts and
work on the production preparation
leading up to the performance. By
contrast, Creative Drama is not
performance based. The Brandywine
Learning Center is proud to offer a drama
camp whose focus is instead on teaching,
encouraging, and cultivating each
student’s acting skills such as voice
projection, stage presence, improvisation,
building confidence in general and
specifically when speaking in front of a
group. That said, we do still include a
performance at the end of the program
because we use it as the vehicle through
which the children can apply their skills.
Plus it adds a tremendous amount of
energy and anticipation to the week. For
young and/or beginning actors and
actresses, creative drama is a great
avenue to take!

Pony Grooming & Riding
This unique 4-day program provides an
exciting hands-on introduction to the
wonderful world of equines in a fun-filled
and supportive atmosphere. PonyShare
uses camp-trained ponies and cobs,
smaller and easier to handle than their
larger equine counterparts. Small groups
of 4-5 children are formed according to
age and prior experience, if any. After
reviewing safety rules, material previously
covered and a learning subject matter,
participants are assigned their size-related
pony or cob and each small group works
under the tutelage of a qualified and
motivated counselor. Some of the
horsemanship matters covered may
include: safety on and around horses, basic
anatomy, equine senses and body
language, grooming, the tack and harness,
english and western styles, barn
management and careers in the industry.
Participants also get to ride or drive their
charges for about 20 minutes during each
session. This program enhances team
work, self-esteem and camaraderie while
helping develop a genuine appreciation
and respect for the animals. Course
materials are provided.

Women's Assault
Prevention Seminar
It is estimated that 33% of women will be
assaulted by age 24, and the majority of
them will know and trust their attacker.
Women's assault prevention is a lot more
than just learning how to hit or kick. It's
about learning how predators think and
how to identify dangerous situations
before they become violent. This seminar
will include a power point discussing the
dangers young women face, as well as
hands on self-defense training taught by
retired and decorated police officer, and
nationally recognized assault prevention
expert, Mike Austin.
