This guide will show you how to properly connect the Metal Ubis to your Printrboard. DO NOT disconnect or connect wires into your Printrboard while it is powered on. Unplug the power before following this guide. First take out all the content of your Metal Ubis Hot End. You will notice a piece of paper inside with IMPORTANT instructions of using your metal hot end. #1 - Always have fan on and running before you heat up hot end. #2 - Change your retraction settings in whichever slicing software you use to 0.3mm0.5mm. If you do not follow these two instructions, you will clog and damage your new Metal Ubis Hot End. © 2015 help.printrbot.com Page 2 of 6 Metal Ubis Hot End without the Fan Power PCB Step 2 1 - Fan assembly 1 - Metal Ubis Hot End 1 - Fan extension wire for small fan The three components will already be connected when you receive them (photo #2). Step 3 Take the Fan Extension and remove the red wire from the connector. Use a micro slotted screw driver to pry up and free the red wiring/connector end. © 2015 help.printrbot.com Page 3 of 6 Metal Ubis Hot End without the Fan Power PCB Step 4 Photo #1 - pull red wire out of molex connector. Photo #3 - take red wire from Fan Extension and insert into molex connector for the Hot End Power Cable. Insert into slot next to black wire in the four pin molex connector. Make sure that the wire is inserted the proper way (photo #3). Photo #1 - Make sure the black wire is connecting to the ICSP bottom left pin (green box). Step 7 This will work with Rev D and Rev F Printrboards. These two photos show the fan working for users who have a Rev D Printrboard with the Z probe sensor PCB. Once you connect power to the Printrboard, the small fan on the Metal Ubis Hot End will immediately turn on. Connect Hot End Thermistor Cable (white and black) to Metal Ubis Hot End (Photo #1). Connect Hot End Thermistor Cable to "T-EXT" on Printrboard (Photo #2).
