MGB Sun visors MGB Sun visors MGB Tonneau Covers MGB Sun visor Mounting Coil Spring This spring wraps around the threaded end of the visor rod, underneath the nut and cup washer. It puts tension on the rod to prevent the sun visor from pivoting unintentionally. 2 needed. HW-WASHE-AJD7721 Reg. $1.80 Sale $1.19 ea MGB Sun visor Mounting Cup Washer Visors come with metal pivot rods installed. LH visor is plain. RH visor comes with mirror. MGB visors were originally supplied in two conditions. Early cars used to have visor rods with a long thread. Later cars had visor rods with a short thread. We are referring to the threaded end that secures the visor to its cast Aluminum mounting lug on the windshield frame. Sun visor manufacturers in the UK have "rationalized" production and now all visors for the MGB come with short threads. On some cars this may pose a small problem: You may find that insufficient thread exists on the rod to install the nut and washer. The solution is easy. With a 1/4" drill, carefully deepen the hole in the top side of the visor retaining bracket(s). This will then allow the visor rod to sit lower in the bracket, enabling you to get a nut on the threaded end. *** DO NOT drill all the way through the brackets when drilling or you will need to buy new ones! All 63-80 cars. ST-BRACK-HZA5101 Sale $15.95 ea Chrome Bullet Mirrors Chrome Bullet Mirrors Just arrived, brand new stock from Newton in England. These are full tonneau's, Zippered down the middle. They have both headrest and steering wheel pockets. A tonneau makes a great accessory item for an MGB; -A tonneau can be used during cool days for your driving pleasure. Simply zip open the driver's side and keep your lower body warm and comfy under the cover (provided that you're by yourself). -A tonneau can be used as a rain cover if you don't care to erect the convertible top-or if it's damaged or missing. Tonneau covers are supplied with zippers and rear "tongue" fasteners installed. The "lift-the-dot" fasteners are included with an installation tool. They sic bullet shape. It is chrome-plated brass and should stand up well. For years I never even knew what these things were. Some of the parts cars that I dismantled had this funny looking pair of bent up steel pipes-usually in a mouldy old bag of some sort. Finally I got educated about their use. The tonneau bars each have a little flat end piece. This is inserted into its mating "receptacle" on the car where the top frame pivots bolt on (one on each side, behind the doors). The two pieces then slide together in the middle. The tonneau bars support the tonneau cover so it doesn't droop behind the seats. This would be especially pronounced if it were raining out. I suppose you could fabricate something at home out of junk steel to do the same job, but it wouldn't be original. Chances are that it wouldn't look very nice either. A lot of MGBs have lost their tonneau bars at some point. Probably as these cars changed hands over the years, a lot of subsequent owners probably didn't know what to do with these things, so they threw them out! Last year we completely sold out of used bars. We just found a few sets at a deeply discounted price over in the old country, so we brought them in. These are brand new bars. Comes as set of LH & RH pieces. Bag NOT included. Fits any 63 - 80 MGB. These same mirrors were also used on Sunbeams, Healey's, and a variety of other English sports cars of that era. Most of the original mirrors were made by Walpress (The Walsall Pressing Company) in England. More recently, all the replacement mirrors seem to be manufactured a little further East of there… The original mirrors were cast from Pot-Metal and chrome plated. They suffered badly from pitting if not washed and waxed regularly. The original mirrors "dried up" in the early 1980s. Several different brands of replacement mirrors have been supplied since that time. Some mirrors have been very nice, others less so. Last year we were offered a UK supplied replacement bullet mirror of about the right diameter. It looked pretty nice, until you picked it up. The entire mirror weighed only a few ounces because it was chrome plated PLASTIC!!! We nixed that one immediately. We now have a nice looking mirror in stock.
