SUMMUM CARBON,
EVERYTHING’S
BRAND NEW
The release of the Foxy Carbon led the brand
Mondraker to the establishment of high standards and the start of a new generation of carbon
bikes. Now it is the turn for Summum Carbon.
The knowledge gathered during the last three
years of working on carbon development with
Foxy Carbon has been useful for creating this
genuine Summum. Rightly, Mondraker’s winning
World Cup DH bike offers the rider the possibility
to adjust its geometry by varying the steering angle and the length of chain stays. Zero Suspension System has more and better bearings and
oversized axle and pivots. A new lower link with
through axle is available and screws have conical
expansion washers, which offer maximum reliability without maintenance requirements.

UNIQUE RIDING FEEL FOR
THE FASTEST SUMMUM
The process of developing this bike has been focused on
getting the fastest and most efficient DH machine ever.
Mondraker has make an all-out effort and implemented all
available resources to get this goal done.
It could be said it has been almost like
an obsession. Mondraker has pushed its
design and manufacturing resources to
the limit to create a full-carbon frame in a
new DH bike while keeping the stiffnessendurance-weight ratio. This seemed
impossible when looking at the drafts.
But the dream has come true: the frame
(medium size) weights 2,837 gr. (6.25
lbs.) without the rear shock. Summum

ever manufactured. But the best is yet
to come… The efficiency and handling
of this new carbon Summum has to be
proven to be believed. This new carbon
Summum outperforms its alloy version.
Increased absorption, stiffness, control
and comfort lead to flawless performance to get the best time record.

SUPER
FASTER
The Summum Carbon includes all the know-how and background on competition gathered
since the beginning of Mondraker in 2002. The most advanced technologies are featured
in this bike. In Mondraker we believe this is the best DH competition bike that the company
has ever released. According to the riders of the MS-Mondraker, who will be shortly riding it
in international DH races, this bike has lot of advantages and a huge speed and performance
potential. This is the most sophisticated, advanced and multi-adjustable bike of the future in
the world of downhill today.

STEALTH CARBON
TECHNOLOGY
Stealth Technology is the most advanced industrial
design and structure optimization technology used
in the Mondraker range. The Summum Carbon
takes this technology to entirely new levels. All the
know-how gathered during the last three years of
research and development of the Foxy Carbon has
been implemented to conceive the best and fastest
DH bike. The result is there for everyone to see: a
frame with a unique design and an astonishing and
shocking look no matter where you look.
Stealth Carbon features flat faces and striking angles
that certainly provide a stunning look to the frame. A
careful craftsmanship and well-studied positioning of
each and every one of the carbon plies have allowed for
an exceptional structural stiffness that makes the Summum Carbon stand out among other DH bikes.
Stealth manufacturing technology has been developed
on the basis of research on critical manufacturing processes with the aim of making improvements. This
technology involves a whole process established by engineers. Selecting the types of carbon fibers and preparing the plies, pre-impregnation with epoxy resin or fiber
alignment and manual positioning are some of the most
important sections in the manufacture. The use of solid
internal molds, either made of high-density expanded
polystyrene or of biodegradable silicone, allow for optimum compaction of the fibers and therefore, clean removal after heat treatment.

STEALTH CARBON
TECHNOLOGY
The Vacuum Compression Process is especially remarkable,
as it allows for compaction of fibres based on high-pressure
vacuum technology. This process is applied to frames and
parts after a layer has been completed to remove air entrapped between the layers and achieve a better expansion
of the epoxy film adhesive between the twisted fibers. This
additional technology results in a fully reliable structure with
higher endurance and stiffness capacities.
The design of the oversized front triangle is in the line of the
Foxy Carbon. The goal was achieving the highest stiffness in
the front triangle. The top tube has a marked slooping that
splits in contact with the steering tube, thus providing unprecedented structural strength. In addition to performance advantages, the front triangle is aesthetically one of the biggest
attractions of the Summum Carbon. The bottom bracket area
and the Zero Suspension System —featuring new bearings,
oversized axles and newly designed lower link— have been
specifically reinforced for stiffness and performance purposes.
Its swing arm has been manufactured entirely in carbon and
equips an integrated fender. This part tops a high technical
frame that has been Mondraker´s most complex and sophisticated challenge to date. A weight of 2,837 grams for a medium size carbon Summum frame without rear shock makes
of this bike one of the ultra lightest DH models ever made.

ZERO
SUSPENSION SYSTEM
TECHNOLOGY
Zero is a proprietary “virtual pivot” suspension
platform designed and used solely by Mondraker.
The most relevant aspect of the Zero system if compared to other alternatives within this category is
that the rear shock is floating between two links
and is compressed from both ends. In the Summum
Carbon the shock mounts in each link are supported by needle roller bearings, which yields an unknown sensitivity in downhill bikes.
SUMMUM CARBON 2015
PRESS RELEASE
Zero system has been optimized in Summum Carbon.
Zero had already been featured for the first time in the
2015 alloy Summum with the aim of looking for highest pedaling performance and absorption. As a result
of including Stealth Carbon technology, new bearings
and oversized axles in Zero, the Summum Carbon delivers unusual first-class performance and efficiency in
a downhill bike. The bike has proven to be more reactive, absorbent, powerful and faster. Super fast. This is
a new experience that makes of the Summum Carbon
a leading bike among DH competition bikes for the
World Cup.
Both versions of the Summum Carbon feature FOX
DHX RC4 Factory Kashima rear shocks. Moreover,
exclusive settings have been specially developed for
Mondraker´s Zero Suspension System.
8
FORWARD GEOMETRY
TECHNOLOGY
The new Summum Carbon benefits from the advantages of Forward Geometry. Mondraker has been developing this technology
at the highest level of DH during more than five seasons already.
Since 2013 Mondraker bikes offer a high level of performance, such
as the Summum. The advantages of Forward Geometry have been
proven to yield higher control, excellent handling, stability and confidence, which are key features to a downhill bike when it comes to
beating the clock.
In Forward Geometry longer upper tubes are offset with shorter
stems. The Summum Carbon features a FG 20-30 configuration
but FG10 is available at the rider´s option too, because, as a result of
using 10 mm length, Forward Geometry has become popular among
DH bikes and a geometric reference in the international arena.
With Forward Geometry the rider feels safer in steep and technical
areas. The axle of the front wheel is slightly more advanced, thus
transmitting higher stability even in steeply sloping areas. The longer wheelbase allows for a bike with more poise at high speed and
very stable in all situations. The FG20-30 configuration is straighter and allows for less handlebar movement to get the same front
wheel angle, thus improving steering precision and making the bike
extremely reactive.
Forward Geometry sets a new weight distribution making it possible
to load the front wheel much more than in a conventional geometry.
This allows a change in the DH driving style and provides a better
grip and improved control.
The development of Forward Geometry in such brutal, competitive and demanding arena as the World Cup downhill
scenario has led Mondraker to create one of the best and
most important innovations in the mountain bike today. This
geometric concept created by Mondraker is increasingly being followed by other international brands with the aim of
imitating its benefits. This elevates this genuine system even
to the top. Mondraker: always being a step ahead.

RIDE
27’5
Both versions of Summum –aluminium and carbon– have been completely
redesigned in 2015. The carbon version features 27.5” wheels for the first
time after considering the current market trend. A 27.5” wheel diameter has
proven better, more efficient and certainly faster than 26”. By putting together
Forward Geometry, Zero Suspension System and 27.5” wheels, Mondraker
has created the fastest Summum ever. If the alloy Summum had established
a new standard in DH bikes, the Summum Carbon sets up a new category,
a new status for the best and most sophisticated high-end competition bike.
The new optimized Forward Geometry in the new Summum Carbon
includes 27.5” wheel diameter and represents a high advantage for
the top-level DH scenario.
