Petra Pari/Ion was born on the 28h of December, 1971 in the beautiful island ofTortola, British Virgin Islands to Patrice Pari/Ion and Mary Jeremy. At the age of one, she left her birthplace and migrated to Dominica to live with her grandmother until she was six years old. On her return to Tortola,
she lived with Claude and Carmen Pari/Ion until the age of 30.
Petra accepted the Lord in her early teens while attending the Althea Scatliffe Primary School and the
BVI High School. During her school years, she was never rude or disrespectful to her teachers. In
high school she displayed the life of Christ amongst her peers and stood up for what she believed in.
In her senior years she was given the nickname "Pastor" which stuck with her.
Through her love and commitment to God, she became a member of the New Testament Church of
God under the leadership of Pastor George Best up until the time he left the British Virgin Islands,
then she was under the leadership of Pastor Ishmael Charles. Later on in her lift she then became a
member of the Oasis Christian Assembly, under the leadership ofPastor Richard Callwood.
After her graduation in 1991, she was employed with the Government at Inland Revenue Department.
She moved on to LIAT Airline where she worked from 1993 to 1999. Wishing to get into a different
field of work, Petra then moved on to the law firm of MeW Todman & Coin 1999 and stayed there
until 2001. Petra 's last place of employment was at Harney Westwood and
·
Riegles, where she worked diligently as a Legal Secretary until her illness.
During her Christian walk, she interceded for her friends and family and she witnessed to anyone she
came into contact with. She lived a very active church lift. She exalted, sang in the church choir, lead
praise and worship service and was very active with the youth ministry.
Petra always had a beaming smile on her face and her genuine love for people made it quite easy for
her to get along with anyone she came in contact with. She was an honest, trustworthy and well respected young lady in the community. She was. of course a people person as many people would say
but to some she seemed very quiet and reserved.
Petra had an infectious laughter that could light up any room. You didn't even have to know what she
was laughing at but by just hearing her you would end up joining in. Even when she had down times,
she would put them aside to help a friend in need and not even let you know her day was going badly.
Petra was a strong woman, but most of all she was a worshipper. She loved the Lord and loved to
worship him.
She lived a life worthy ofemulation. She was like a city on a hill shining her light for all to see. Indeed
the bible tells us in Matthew 5:16 that we ought to let our light so shine before men, that they may see
our good works, and glorify our Father which is in Heaven and this is just what Petra did.
Even in her sickness, Petra was strong. Although she suffered much, she stood firm in her faith and
declared that she was already healed!! When other's faith wavered, she stood upon the Solid Rock and
placed everything in The Great Physician's Hands and said that all the glory and honor be to God
and in the end He will be glorified!! At times when she would get bad news from the doctor her spirit
would still be high in God. She would always say "God has the last say and he knows best".
Without a shadow of a doubt we know that this is not goodbye forever and that she is in a better place
right now, a place where there is no more suffering and no more pain. Rest in peace our dear Sister
Petra Pari/Ion until we meet again in the presence of our Father.
