OVERVIEW
2013 marks the final year of production for one of the most
innovative vehicles in the North American market. Often described
as the Ultimate Utility Vehicle, Avalanche has the capability to go
from a 6-passenger full-size SUV to a full-size pickup with seating
for three in a matter of moments. A key factor in its capability
is the ease in which the changeover occurs with the exclusive
Midgate, as well as the fact that there’s over 8' of protected cargo
space. For 2013, changes include the addition of a new color and
changes to packaging, especially as it relates to the Avalanche LS.
Chevrolet Avalanche is available in three trim levels:

5. Suspension and steering – Avalanche features a 4-wheel
coil-spring suspension that provides a much smoother ride
than the rear leaf-spring design commonly associated with
pickup trucks. In addition, the rack-and-pinion steering
responds quickly and precisely to driver steering inputs.
6.Remote locking tailgate – Standard on every Avalanche.
This tailgate is locked by the button on the key fob or one of
the interior door lock switches.
7.Eaton automatic locking rear differential (G80) – The G80
automatically locks the left and right rear wheels together
when slippage is detected at lower speeds. This sends
maximum drive power to the wheel with traction.
8.USB port – Allows connection and playback of audio files
stored on compatible USB devices.
9. StabiliTrak with Proactive Roll Avoidance, Trailer Sway
Control and Hill Start Assist – GM’s sophisticated Electronic
Stability Control System is standard on every Avalanche and
is designed to help the driver keep the vehicle traveling on
the desired path in the event of an oversteer or understeer
situation. Proactive Roll Avoidance detects potential
rollover situations and takes corrective action. Trailer Sway
Control senses trailer sway and automatically applies the
appropriate brakes to help maintain control. Hill Start Assist
automatically engages to hold the truck stationary for
about a second after the brake is released. This gives the
driver time to accelerate before the truck can roll backward.

have color caps and are heated and power adjustable. LTZ has

and starting the engine. In addition, owners can access

•Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI FlexFuel engine with Active Fuel
Management – Standard on all models.
– 320 hp @ 5400 rpm.
– 335 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4000 rpm.
•FlexFuel capability – The 5.3L engine is capable of running on
unleaded gasoline or up to 85% ethanol (E85).
• 6-speed automatic transmission – All Avalanche models
receive a 6-speed automatic transmission. Characteristics
of the 6-speed transmission include a steep first gear for
excellent launch feel, a tight gear span that keeps the engine
within its most efficient operating range through the gears,
and a tall overdrive sixth gear for smooth operation at
highway speeds, as well as excellent fuel economy due to the
low operating rpm of the engine.
• Standard trailering equipment – Includes a platform trailer
hitch, 7-wire harness with independent fused trailering
circuits mated to a 7-way connector and 2" receiver.
•Heavy Duty Trailering Package – On 2WD models includes
an external transmission oil cooler and engine oil cooler
for increased capability. 4WD models include 2-speed
transfer case.
•Integrated Trailer Brake Controller – Eliminates the need for
