LET’S GET SERIOUS.
With Chevrolet’s full-size SUVs, rugged styling is only a starting point. What they are really all
about are serious capabilities. The power is nothing short of commanding with a standard Vortec
5.3L V8 engine that generates 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque. That power, combined
with the impressive rigidity of the frame, result in a massive 3856 kg (8500 lb.)* maximum

It’s one thing to engineer a hybrid system for a compact or mid-size car. What makes Tahoe
Hybrid such a technological marvel is how it delivers the capability of a Chevrolet truck, with a
332 horsepower Vortec 6.0L LIVC V8 AFM gasoline powered engine and a towing capacity of
up to 2812 kg (6200 lb.). At the same time, the advanced GM Hybrid Propulsion Electric System
delivers an astounding 10.1 L/100 km city fuel consumption rating that beats a six-cylinder
Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.* That is made possible by the Two-Mode Hybrid System that
can operate on electric power alone, on gasoline engine power alone, or with a combination of
the two. The electric power even kicks in at highway speeds when passing, towing a trailer or

The Two-Mode Hybrid System automatically selects the most effective
and efficient blend of power, based on demand. You can check its current

MODE 1
When driving at a low speed with a light load, Mode 1 can operate three
ways: on electric power alone, on gasoline engine power alone, or with a
combination of both. The engine is shut off entirely in stop-and-go traffic,
allowing you to drive up to 48 km/h on electric power alone in certain
situations, dramatically reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
MODE 2
At highway speeds, Mode 2 kicks in. It delivers Vortec V8 gasoline power
with Active Fuel Management providing the fuel efficiency benefits of
4-cylinder operation when power demands are low – plus supplemental
electric power in such demanding situations as passing, towing a trailer
or climbing steep grades.

A Bose 8-speaker centre channel sound system with subwoofer is standard
on Avalanche LTZ. A Bose 9-speaker premium sound system is standard on
Tahoe and Suburban LT. The Bose 10-speaker centre channel sound system with
subwoofer is standard on Tahoe and Suburban LTZ.
A standard USB port enables you to operate an MP3 player and access music on a
flash drive. The connection even recharges your remote player while it’s operating.

You have the friends. And you have the gear. That’s why you’ll find the spacious Tahoe
and Suburban cabins so useful. Both can seat up to a maximum of nine – more than either
the Ford Expedition or Nissan Armada.* Behind the third-row seats of Tahoe, you’ll find
479 L (16.9 cu. ft.) of cargo space. Suburban more than doubles that capacity, with 1297 L
(45.8 cu. ft.). Fold down the second-row seat and remove the third-row and you open up an
enormous 3084 L (108.9 cu. ft.) in Tahoe and a class-leading 3891 L (137.4 cu. ft.) in Suburban.
The 60/40 split-folding second-row bench and 50/50 removable third-row bench provide
excellent versatility, enabling you to accommodate a variety of cargo and passenger needs.

It’s the SUV of pickups. Or the pickup of SUVs. Either way, it results in unrivalled versatility.
And it’s all due to the Convert-A-CabTM system, with the Midgate as its centrepiece. When
folded down it creates a cargo box that can carry 4' x 8' sheets of building material with the
tailgate closed in its upright position. No hassles and no tools required. The cargo box itself
makes easy work of loading, unloading and securing objects, thanks to features like grab
handles, lockable 48 L (1.7 cu. ft.) top box storage compartments, eight cargo tie-downs and
a cargo light. To keep your cargo dry and secure, Avalanche also includes a rigid three-piece
cargo cover. No wonder Avalanche is called the Ultimate Utility Vehicle.

HEAD CURTAIN AIR BAGS
Head curtain side-impact air bags* help reduce
the risk of injuries to outboard occupants
in certain side impacts, providing enhanced
protection for all outboard seating rows. When
deployed, the air bags remain inflated in the
unlikely event of a rollover to help reduce
the risk of ejection. Standard on all Tahoe,
Suburban and Avalanche models.
ULTRASONIC REAR PARKING ASSIST
When in Reverse, ultrasonic rear parking
assist detects obstacles in your path up to
2.5 m (8 ft.) behind the vehicle. The system
then activates an audio warning. Standard on
all Tahoe and Suburban LT, LTZ, Hybrid and
Avalanche LTZ models; available on other
models.
STABILITRAK
The standard StabiliTrak system compares your
steering input with the vehicle’s actual track,
intervening automatically whenever it detects
a loss of lateral traction (sideslip), understeer
(plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing). It helps
return Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche to your
intended line by incrementally applying an
individual brake or brakes and if necessary, by
reducing engine torque. As an electronic stability
control system, it has proven to reduce the risk
of a fatal single-vehicle crash by a remarkable
63 percent.† Proactive Roll Avoidance is included
with StabiliTrak to reduce a vehicle’s tendency to
roll over during an extreme manoeuvre.
ONSTAR
OnStar** with six months of the Directions &

SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT
Blind spots exist on both sides of a vehicle.
The technologically advanced Side Blind Zone
Alert uses radar technology to detect a vehicle
entering a blind spot on either side. It then
triggers an LED symbol alert in the appropriate
exterior rear-view mirror. Available on Tahoe and

The loads that these trucks can haul or tow are staggering – with towing capacities ranging
all the way up to 4355 kg (9600 lb.) on Suburban 2500. That size of load demands equally
substantial power, which is precisely what you get from the Vortec V8 engines in every
Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche. The 320 horsepower Vortec 5.3L V8 is standard on all but
Suburban 2500, which features the 352 horsepower Vortec 6.0L V8. These engines aren’t
only engineered for prodigious output, they also incorporate fuel-saving technologies like the
Active Fuel Management on the 5.3L engine and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on both engines.
The engines are mated with a six-speed automatic transmission that includes a Tow/Haul
mode and tap-up/tap-down Driver Shift Control. Automatic grade braking is also standard,
helping to slow the truck on long descents without having to ride the brakes. Tahoe, Suburban
and Avalanche – built to handle enormous loads capably and efficiently.
ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT
The Active Fuel Management technology
increases fuel efficiency by shutting down four
cylinders under low-demand operating conditions,
such as when cruising at highway speeds or on
level stretches of road. When power demands
increase, such as during acceleration or driving
uphill, the engine switches back to eight-cylinder
operation. Cylinder deactivation and reactivation
are executed with seamless precision. Active Fuel
Management helps Tahoe deliver best-in-class
fuel consumption ratings.*
