Note: Where a contestant is entered in Open & State categories of the same event, the
contestant will perform in the Open category FIRST. Contestants are responsible for
reporting to lanes on time. Failure to do so results in penalty or disqualification.
General Information
Age Divisions:
NBTA age groups for all solo events is 0-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16+
Show Twirl & Solo Dance: Time 1:30-2:30 minutes, ages 0-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16+
Rhythmic: Time 2:00-2:30 minutes, ages 0-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16+
Groups:
Dance Twirl and Twirl Teams: Small 6-8 members, Large 9-13, X-Large 14+
Age Divisions: Tiny Tots 0-5.999, Juvenile 6-8.999, Preteen 9-11.999, Junior 12-14.999, Senior
15+
Halt-time Team, Show Twirl Team, Pom Team, Dance Team: Small 4-8 members, Large 9-13,
X-Large 14+. Age Divisions: Kinder 0-7.999, Primary 8-10.999, Jr. High 11-13.999, Senior High
14-& over, Collegiate 18+& in college.
School Group Events: Show Twirl and Dance Twirl: Junior High, High School and Collegiate
Teams (3 or more members)

Entering:
NBTA Rules state that double entering is not permitted for State
events, but is permitted for open events.

Modeling
Queen:
Will be in the Circle T pattern. No interview. All modeling events will be done in
costume. Time limits are specified in the NBTA Rules.
Island Twirl
Princess:
Novice only. Compete in Modeling in costume, Basic and Solo.
Island Twirl
Queen:
Beginner, Intermediate, and advanced. Compete in Modeling
In costume, X-Strut and Solo.
Island Strut
Queen:
Beginner and Advanced. Model in costume, basic and military.
South Carolina
State Gold
Traveling award and $50.00 cash prize! Plaque will be presented at the contest. The cash
prize will be given when plaque is returned the following year. This award goes to the
best South Carolina “State Solo Twirler”! All first place Beginner, Intermediate
and Advanced state solo twirlers will twirl off to compete for this prestigious award!
South Carolina
Team Gold Award
This traveling award will be presented to the best South Carolina “State
Team”! The recipient of this prestigious award will be the one team entered
in a state division with the highest score.
Duets & Trios:
Please have only ONE contestant mail in the entry and the fees!
Deadline for Entries:
Entries must be postmarked by March 18, 2015! Money order or cashier check only! No
personal checks will be accepted. LATE ENTRIES $20.00 and must be sent overnight!
Judging and
Awards
NBTA rules, judges and score sheets will be used. Score sheets and
awards will be presented during the contest.
Change from One
Division to another:
Due to a contest win after the contest entry has been mailed, which
would necessitate a change to a high division (i.e. novice to beginner)

You will not be able to compete in either division for title, however you
can compete for a score sheet only.
Photographs:
At the conclusion of the individual events, pictures of the first place winners in the
Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner and Novice divisions in Solo, X-strut and 2 Baton
events will be taken for Drum Major Magazine.
Facility Charge:
There is a $5.00 facility charge upon entering the contest for anyone other than
contestants and teachers.
Parents:
PLEASE KEEP A COPY OF YOUR ENTRY FORM SO THAT YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOU
ENTERED. You are responsible for any damage done to the building or the grounds.
Property taken into the facility is at your own risk. Directors, officials and/or facility
management are not responsible for loss, accidents or injuries.
Video Taping:
NBTA rules state that you may only video tape your own child or student.
No flash photography.
Program Books:
Program books need to be pre-paid on the entry form. Extra Program
Books will not be available. You are invited to design and write your own

Food & Drinks:
A concession stand will be open. No outside food or drinks allowed.

From I-95 North take 17 North through Charleston and Georgetown. After

Road (you will turn between the Founders Club and a motel). Go 2.2 miles
and turn right, this road leads to the back of the school where the
Waccamaw High School gym and parking lot is located.
