TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ATTENTION BUYERS
7. A new halter will be provided with your
horse purchase. All ride and lead in horses
are haltered and tied after they are sold and
leave the ring. A $2.50 fee for the halter will
be assessed the buyer with seller paying an
additional $2.50.
1. Please have your driver’s license
ready to present when registering for a
number.
2. All out-of-state buyers paying by check
must have a current letter of credit on file
to receive a bidding number.
8. Phone or mail in bids are welcome.
Buyers need to make arrangements by the
Friday before the sale for credit references.
3. A purchase invoice will be filled out for
each horse purchased by a buyer. Name
and address is to be filled out exactly how
the purchaser wants a horse registered. We
will not be responsible for errors on transfer if purchase invoice is not properly and
clearly filled out.
9. Writing an insufficient funds check
the size of a horse purchase is a
FELONY. Any person writing an insufficient funds check for a horse purchase will be turned over to the States
Attorney for prosecution. Immediate
legal action will be taken.
4. All horses listed in this catalogue are
guaranteed sound by their owner. The guarantee is strictly by the owner and not the
sale management. Right of recourse must
be directly to the owner and not through
South Dakota Horse Sale, owners, auctioneers or managers. We act only as agents
for consignors in the sale. Soundness to
include sight out of both eyes, not to crib,
hit the ground on all 4, & good in the air.
10. Longtime, regular monthly buyers, easily recognized by our staff, may apply for a
permanent V.I.P. buyer number.
11. We DO NOT allow private horse trading in the yards, alleys or on the premises
before, during or after the sale. Any offender
to this policy will be banned from the premises. All persons selling no-saled horses on
the premises after they leave the ring must
pay full commission in the office.
5. Be sure to inspect any horse of interest
to your satisfaction BEFORE you buy. A
veterinarian is available prior to sale time to
answer any questions. When horse leaves
the ring all sales are final.
12. For convenience in the quick location
of a certain horse, horses will be penned
in numerical order throughout the yard
beginning with Lot 1 nearest the check-in
gate.
6. We DO NOT charge sales tax on horse
purchases in South Dakota. This can be quite
a savings to you on a several horse purchase.
HEALTH & COGGINS
OUT-OF- STATE HEALTH & COGGINS LAW – All out of state horses that are being rode or led in will need
a health. All BUT North Dakota Horses will require a Neg. Coggins to receive a health certificate. South
Dakota horses do NOT require either health or Coggins certificates.
NOTICE NEBRASKA CUSTOMERS – Due to a recent positive positive EIA (coggins) case in Nebraska,
(Cherry County) all horses INCLUDING LOOSE, require a health to enter South Dakota. However, if your
horses are strictly going to processing plant or feed lot & is so stated on the health certificate by the
veterinarian, they will not need a Neg. Coggins, just a health.

More April 12 Horse Sale Details – Sold 301 Head.
Not many of the big in demand, good looking finished
solid horses in the sale catalogue, but what we had
sold well. Our extensive advertising program brought
Buyers here from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa,
Kansas, North Dakata, Nebraska as well as all across
South Dakota.
Only four No Sales in the catalogue sale tells the story,
including Lot 6, Which was the 22-year old mare that
was a proven winner in 4-H horse shows and Rodeo
Events. She was No-Saled at $3400.
Top Broodmare - $1250 was Lot 37, Two Buck Bar
Cat, consigned by Robin Faller, Lisbon, North Dakota.
She is a sorrel 6-yr old AQHA mare OWN daughter
of Two Eyed Red Buck & vet checked in foal to a son
of Smart Chic Olena. She sold to Danny Elwood,
Oberlen, Kansas.

the April 12 sale. This beautiful ranch used horse is
a AQHA & foundation registered 15-yr old buckskin
stallion. He is sired by a OWN son of Smart Little Lena
and has been shown in Working Cow Horse & is a point
earner.
Top Yearling -$700, Lot 18, Doc Hollywood, a AQHA
bay roan big shapey stud colt with a pedigree to get any
job done. He was consigned by Bruce Ericson, LeMars,
Iowa and sold to Wes Johnson, Albion, Nebraska.
Top Saddle Mare – $1500, Lot 26, Lena Bee Low, a
5-yr old AQHA black mare, exceptionally quiet and
well started under saddle, He was consigned by Ordean
Stern, South Shore, So.Dakota and sold to David
Rogers, Valentine, Nebraska.

Top Pony - $1600, Lot 23, was consigned by Katelyn
Vizecky, Brandt, SD. “Sparky” was a 13 hand 10-yr
old been there-done that type pony gelding. He sold to
David Rogers, Valentine, Nebraska.
OPEN CONSIGNMENT SALE – Sold very nice
saddle horses in that sale with a gelding toping that sale
at $1850.
LOOSE SALE – Sold 249 Head. A MUCH stronger
market both on the weigh up end and the still usable
& broke to ride end. There were 105 Loose horses
that sold $400 to $1200 with the top 15 Loose horses
averaging $769. The heavy horses, No. 1’s, on the
weigh up end, those 1200 lb & over sold 45 cents to 50
cents a lb. 1000 lb to 1100 pounds sold 25 to 40 cents.
1100 lb to 1200 lb sold 35 to 45 cents lb. Thin young
horses, stallions & mules sell $75 to $125. Best to geld
those stallions before bringing them to market for much
better price. Our volume loose horse sale brings in all
the top buyers in the country. Seats are full.
