Newsletter No 27
Welcome Back
A big welcome back to school after the
Easter break and I hope you all enjoyed
your time with your children during the
holidays. Summer seems to be arriving with
the lovely weather we have had this week and
everybody has come back to school with a
smile on their face. Long may it continue!
During the break, the work to the premises
that was promised in my last newsletter has
taken place and you will have seen the
improvements in the playground with the new
seating and matting around the trees. In
addition, the toilets for the Reception classes
have been installed and are in use. Amber
class has had the plastering and painting work
completed and we now have CCTV installed
around the school.
The playground equipment for both
playgrounds has arrived and the children are
having great fun playing with it at playtimes
and lunchtimes. We will be installing sheds in
the playgrounds where we can securely store
the equipment in the weeks to come.
“The session today included a chance for the
kids to try string instruments, and both classes
were really keen and sensitive to the
instruments. One of the best responses as a
group we have had in 11 years. They have a
great attitude, and are really musical.”
Later that morning, Catty Alberman from
Haringey Music Service, who takes Singing
assemblies in other schools as well as ours said
to me after another rousing assembly:
“The singing assembly at Earlham is my
favourite slot of the week now.”
Both these comments made me feel really
proud and they are a credit to the delightful
children we are lucky enough to have here at
Earlham.
Talking Wall
Again, thank you to all those who
contributed their thoughts and
ideas to the Talking Wall we set up
for Parents Evening. There were
many positive comments and some
suggestions for improvement. I shall report in
more detail what was said and our response to
your suggestions in a future communication.

Music at Earlham
The children in Year 5 have been very lucky to
be working with musicians from Apollo music
this year. They have had workshops in school
and been to see a performance at Shoreditch
Town Hall. The string quartet came to do
another session this week and the next
morning I received an email from their leader.
I wanted to share with you all, a comment
made by the leader of the group after working
with the children:
