Job Description
Job Title: Content Specific Regional Coach for Child Care Directors: A contract labor/consultant
position with no benefits. This position begins in May and continues through December 2015
with the intention and possibility of being funded through December 2016.
Supervisor: Regional Collaboration Coordinator
Description: The purpose of the Content Specific Regional Coach for Child Care Directors
position is to provide coaching (approximately 6-12 hours a week) to Directors of child care
programs. Colorado Coaching Consortium defines coaching as a learning process based on a
collaborative relationship that is intentionally designed to promote sustainable growth in the
necessary attitudes, skills, and knowledge to effectively implement the best practice for the
development of young children and their families. Coaching activities may include technical
assistance or consulting, collaborating and cognitive coaching. By utilizing this definition and
the funding provided by El Pomar Foundation, the goals are to assist in building capacity and
leadership, and reduce Director turnover in the five counties of Southwest Colorado including
Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, and San Juan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coaching:
 Provide on-site (hands-on) coaching to Directors of early childhood programs in the five
counties of Southwest Colorado
 Attend required meetings related to regional collaboration in Southwest Colorado
 Be familiar with Colorado Coaching Consortium competencies, activities, opportunities, and
webinars
 Assist in data collection and training related to coaching, may include Quality Rating
Improvement System (QRIS: Colorado Shines) and Professional Development Information
System (PDIS)
 Travel to Child Care Center Directors (travel stipend is provided)
 Collaborate with Coachee to best assess Directors’ needs and provide support/guidance

Minimum Qualifications:
 Bachelors degree (BA) in ECE or related field
 Early Childhood Professional Credential Level III or higher
 Obtained or working towards obtaining Early Childhood Coaching Credential by
December 2015
 Completed Four Day Relationship Based Professional Development Training or
equivalent (offered in La Plata County on July 7th, 8th and August 4th, 5th)
 Three years’ experience in Early Childhood (ex. supervision, leadership or management
of programs; program coordination, development, or regulation; training, instruction, or
technical assistance of program; evaluation or research in the field) including at least
1820 hours of direct service experience working with young children and/or their
families
 Proficient in Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email communication, and with a video
camera
 If required, willing to comply with a background check and fingerprint card submission if
required
 Strong organizational and interactive presentation skills
 Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
 Ability to travel for required training and professional development
 Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, demanding, and multifaceted environment with the ability to manage changing situations and priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
 At least 300 hours of documented direct coaching experience. Acceptable forms of
documentation include:
A copy of coaching log(s) that details dates/length of each coaching visit and is signed by
program receiving service OR letter from supervisor verifying a minimum of 300 hours
has been provided
 Early Childhood Coaching Credential Level I, II or III
