Bendigo Metro Rail

Bendigo Metro Rail
Project Overview
Bendigo Metro Rail aims to deliver a
commuter train service for Bendigo,
with an increased number of services
running from Epsom, Eaglehawk and
Kangaroo Flat to Bendigo.
The Victorian Government has committed $2 million
towards the project. A Community Consultative
Taskforce and Technical Working Group have been
established to provide a recommendations report
to the Minister for Public Transport by 30 June 2015.
Project benefits
Bendigo Metro Rail aims to reduce local traffic
and allow people to commute to work, school,
TAFE and university via rail.
The project has been proposed to support forecast
population growth in Bendigo and surrounding areas.
There are over 100,000 people who live in the City of
Greater Bendigo and 266,900 people are expected to
live in the region by 2041.
