Summer Office Hours
The Department of Economics will begin summer hours on Friday, May 1, 2015.
Office hours will be 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Going Away This Summer? Reminder to Faculty
If you are going away this summer, please remember to notify the Main Office of the dates you’ll be
gone and your contact information while away. This is important during the summer, as well as during
the regular Academic year.
Year-End Expenses – Entertainment and Travel for Workshop Visitors
Year-end for the 2014-2015 budget year is April 30, 2015. Faculty with outstanding entertainment and
travel expenses for workshop visitors should forward all receipts to Karin as soon as possible.
Knowledge Mobilization/Translation/Synthesis Workshop
Increasingly, Tri-council (SSHRC/NSERC/CIHR) and other large funding agencies are requiring that grant
applications include a well-integrated “Knowledge Mobilization/Translation/Synthesis” strategy. A
workshop dealing with this new funding component will be held on May 14th, 2015, at 1:00-3:00 p.m.,
in SSC Room 9420. If interested, RSVP to Erin Huner by May 11, 2015.
Western’s New Travel Partnership
Procurement Services is conducting training sessions to familiarize travellers and travel arrangers with
Western’s new travel partners, FCm Travel Solutions and Concur Travel. All faculty and staff who book or
arrange travel are encouraged to register.
Meet-Me-Conference Facilities Discontinued
Information Technology Services has announced it will stop providing “Meet-Me-Conference” call
service effective May 1, 2015. Information and suggestions for possible service providers can be found
on its website.
Canadian Econometric Study Group Meetings – Call for Papers
The Canadian Econometrics Study Group (CESG) is holding the 32nd CESG Conference, Development and
Economic Application of Flexible and Non-linear Econometric Models, on September 26-27, 2015, in
Guelph, Ontario. Papers related to flexible and non-linear econometric models are encouraged, but
submissions in any area of theoretical or applied econometrics will be considered. The deadline is May
15, 2015.
CIREQ Economic Growth and Development Conference
The CIREQ Economic Growth and Development Conference will take place May 22-23, 2015, in
Montreal. The registration deadline is May 13, 2015.
Global Health/Global Justice 2015 Conference – Open Invitation
The Global Health/Global Justice 2015 Conference, titled Making New Medicines Accessible to All, will
be held on May 7-8, 2015, at Ryerson University in Toronto. Registration is free.
Monetary Policy and the Distribution of Income and Wealth – Call for Papers
The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Washington University in St. Louis, and the Council on Economic
Policies are organizing a workshop on Monetary Policy and the Distribution of Income and Wealth, to be
held September 11-12, 2015 at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The submission deadline is June 7,
2015.
Wharton Liquidity and Financial Crises Conference – Call for Papers
The Financial Institutions Center of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, in
collaboration with the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis, is organizing the fourth Conference
on Liquidity and Financial Crises, to take place October 9-10, 2015, at the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2015.

6th Ifo Conference on Macroeconomics and Survey Data – Call for Papers
The 6th Ifo Conference on “Macroeconomics and Survey Data” will be held on December 4-5, 2015, in
Munich. The conference will discuss ongoing research on survey and micro data and its role and usage in
macroeconomics. Theoretical, empirical and policy-oriented papers are being solicited. The submission
deadline is July 15, 2015.

Research Grant Applications – Department Procedures
Please submit a paper copy or email a pdf of all research grant applications (including contracts), internal and
external, to Karin for review and subsequent Chair approval/signature prior to submitting your application
electronically.
In addition, completion of the Faculty Facesheet and electronic submission of proposals via ROLA are
required by all applicants in order to obtain institutional approvals for research grant/contract applications.
