Rules and Expectations
Parents and students please read this form prior to attendance on the
Boise State University TRIO ETS and UB field trip.
Students must:
• Understand that University/TRIO rules supersede rules from home.
• Respectfully follow directions of chaperones, tour guides, and fellow students.
• Be on time for each activity; this includes each time we board the bus.
• Never wear gang type, revealing, or questionable clothing.
• Never use gang hand signs, use inappropriate, intimidating, harassing and/or profane language.
• Never possess illegal substances which include: tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and prescriptions without student names
on them.
• Never share personal prescriptions or over-the-counter medications with other students.
• Never bring weapons or display violent behavior.
• Understand they will not be able to leave with friends, family, or relatives while on field trip.
• Avoid public or private displays of affection this includes: kissing, inappropriate touching, sitting on each others’
lap, hanging on each other, etc.
• Understand there will be negative consequences, determined by chaperones, when rules are not followed.
• Understand parents will be called in situations involving tobacco, drugs, weapons, and inappropriate behavior.
• Understand parents may have to pick students up early in the event of an illness, emergency, rules violation, or
any incident involving the police.
• Prearrange, with trip leader, if any friends and relatives join the field trip; guests need to plan on following the
University/TRIO guidelines and paying for their own meals/activities.
Overnight Trip Guidelines (if applicable):
• Students are not allowed in the hotel room of anyone of the opposite sex for any reason.
• Students need to be in their room at the requested time.
• Plan on turning televisions, lights and cell phones off or on silent at the designated time.
• Understand that quiet hours set by the TRIO staff and the hotel will be enforced.
• No energy drinks past 6pm.
• Please do not plan on using the hotel phones; staff cell phones are available to students whenever needed.
Parents please understand:
Boise State University TRIO ETS and UB Programs monitoring of students activities and behavior on field trips:
1. Starts when they board the bus/van at the beginning of the trip and
2. Ends when they depart the bus/van at the end of the trip.
The University/TRIO chaperones WILL NOT be monitoring who the student comes to the bus stop with or leaves
the bus stop with. The bus stop and time for arrival/departure differs for each field trip so please read the enclosed
transportation schedule.
Thank you for your attention to the Boise State University TRIO ETS and UB Programs rules and expectations. Please keep this form for your records and sign the enclosed field trip forms. Signature on the
attached forms means both student and parent have read and understand Boise State University policies,
rules/expectations, and medical release form.

PARENTS AND STUDENTS:
Parents and students agree to indemnify and hold harmless Boise State University and the State of Idaho from all claims, liabilities,
damages, losses, demands, costs, or suits of any nature whatsoever, including for property damage, personal injury, or death, caused by
the negligent acts or omissions of students and families participating in the Boise State TRIO program in the performance or conduct
of any and all aspects of this agreement. This indemnity shall include costs, expenses, and attorney's fees occasioned by said loss,
damage, liabilities, claims, demands, or suits as well as the full amount of any judgment rendered or compromise settlement made,
plus court costs and interest. Nothing herein shall constitute a waiver on the part of Boise State University or the State of Idaho of any
privilege, immunity, or defense provided under the Idaho Constitution, the Idaho Tort Claims Act or applicable law.
ETS / UB Field Trip Rules:
At all times students will show respect for and follow the directions of the chaperones. Students will also show respect to other students, speakers, and field trip sponsors (including appropriate use of cell phones and music players). No smoking, alcohol or drugs.
No kissing or inappropriate touching. No profanity or insulting language. No harassing behavior. No weapons or violent behavior.
Failure to obey “Rules and Expectations” included in this packet or set forth by chaperones will result in the student being sent home
immediately, and his/her parents and school notified. Violation of the “Rules and Expectations” could also lead to expulsion from
the program.
Signing this form means you have READ and UNDERSTAND the Boise State University policies
shown above, and the enclosed Rules and Expectations, and Medical Release forms.
