Greenwood Review Our mission is to support Missouri State University as a laboratory of best practices in teaching and to prepare students who are knowledgeable, creative, caring and engaged citizens. April 2015 A Note from Dr. Duncan . . . Greenwood Review April 2015 Greetings Finally, SPRING! Although the winter flew by, it was a very beneficial one. I hope you’ve seen some of the results of the hard work of our Greenwood students. Awards are too numerous to mention here but we are going to try to do so at the school awards assembly on April 28. This is not another honor day, but will include children Kindergarten through high school and we hope will be similar to the pep rallies we have for athletics. What better thing to get excited about than the students’ academic awards? You may have not recognized some of the students in the hallways the last few weeks. There have been around 15 students shadowing Greenwood students to see if they would like to be here next year. In fact, two students began in March after seeing what Greenwood had to offer. The marketing committee also sponsored an open house in February where interested parents attended who have children from three months of age to high school age. Several applications were added because of that event. When you’re in the building, come by the map at the beginning of the secondary hall. It has pictures of all the seniors displayed in their caps and gowns with university logo of possible schools they will attend next year. By the end of the year you will see where the graduates will be attending. It truly demonstrates the mission of Greenwood…preparing students for success in college. Sincerely yours, Janice R.
