I figured after being at the Make a Wish show for 6 hot hours everyone would just go home and chill. Boy was I wrong! We had close to 80 cars there including the car club Import Obsession, they cruised back to the Home Depot parking lot also. Randy sold $352.00 worth of 50/50 tickets in just about an hour and a half. What an awesome day, we had quite a few new people there checking us out to see if they might want to join our wonderful club. I think we finally got home around 9:30 that evening after starting out at 7:00 am. The Make a Wish show was a great success, I think this was their biggest year yet. I was so very proud of all our club members that were able to come out and show their support. Aiken Horsepower won Best Club participation for the third year in a row!! I really enjoyed donating the $100 back to the Make a Wish show. Hopefully the money will help the little girl have more fun at Disneyland. We have been invited to come to MTU’s Family Day on July 13th. It will be from 9 am – 2 pm. We will get to tour the plant and see how the motors are made. They will also feed us. Sounds like it would be fun to me, so please email me at aikenhorsepower@ hotmail.com and let me know if you are interested in going. We could meet up somewhere and cruise there together as a club. We have also been asked to team up with the City of Aiken for their Labor Day BBQ cook-off. We went last year and had a great time and really enjoyed trying out all the BBQ. I am going to check but last year for every car that came we were given a wrist band for one to eat free. Public Safety would like for us to team up with them in September also, they would like to do a beside the badge softball tournament and Aiken Horsepower cruise-in. It is called Blue Lights and Fast Cars. I will email Chris and find out what all will be going on that day. Love supporting our local law enforcement agencies!! Manny and I would like to buy a heating and air unit for The Pit, it is either very hot in the summer and pretty cold in the winter so this would help us out a lot when we have meetings there and when we have to get the trailer ready for our events. Manny found a heating and air unit for $599.00. Any objections to us buying the unit? Just let me know. Keep on Rollin!! Vickie Manny's Mania News from the "pit" Well the Beach Blast was once again a great success for Aiken Horsepower. Leron and Jay helped put our banner up high where everyone that cruised in could see it. Once again I want to give a big thanks to Randy and Ann for being the gatekeepers and giving us a break. Also want to give a big thanks to Pete and Kay, they brought me and Vickie an authentic Aiken Pool Hall hot dog, they were awesome! This year’s winners for the best beached out ride are as follows: 1st Place, Pete and Kay Bodie, 2nd Place, Leron Black, and third place went to Joel and Joella! Thanks to all that participated in our fun event. It got kind of hot but the redneck pool was there to help cool off everyone. Hehe As Vickie stated above, Home Depot has a free standing air conditioner/heater that does have to be vented, but with our space that is not a problem. I am also looking for a couple of things, one for a project and one to save money. If anyone knows where there is an ice maker for sale please let us know. I have come up with what I think is a great idea for our cook tent. I have an old tilt boat trailer that I have been saving and what I want is to find an old 60 something body, hopefully one with some wings that I can cut from the back window and make it into an Aiken Horsepower BBQ pit. Upcoming Events: July 6th: Home Depot cruise-in, 6:00-8:00 pm July 8th: Club meeting at the Golden Coral, eat at 6:00 pm, meet at 7:00 pm. July 13th: MTU Fun Day, 9:00 am-2:00 pm So until next month, Burn rubber till next time, American car horns beep in the tone of F. Want Ads 3 That’s right club members, in case you forgot – we are pleased to list your automotive associated ads in the newsletter. Whether it be a “for sale: or “for want” just let me know in some sort of written form, and I will put it in the very next newsletter. It will only run once (kinda like some cars I have owned) so if you want it to run again you have to let me know each time. Another reminder – I don’t know what you have, what it’s called, or what it is used for, so be sure that you include all the pertinent details, as to name, size, color, etc. and who and where to contact.
