22 23 FEATURED BIKE

Frank Sostorics had a problem. As an avid rider he found
that the stock bikes available to him were too small. Frank
stands 6’-5” tall and his size created problems for him
whenever he rode any of the stock bikes. He was always
riding hunched over and it appeared as though he was on
a mini bike. So he started looking for a builder to customize
a bike suited to his size and riding needs.

Frank was looking at a number of different builders for his
bike when (through some family and friends) he was directed
to Azzkikr Custom Cycles of Surrey, BC. They all stated that
the staff at Azzkikr was very knowledgeable about bikes. With
twelve staff members and a combined bike business experience in excess of two hundred and twenty-five years, Azzkikr
Customs could deliver. The facility incorporates a 6,400 squarefoot showroom, 2,400 square-foot apparel store and 5,600
square-feet of fabrication and service facilities dedicated to every
rider’s desires and needs. After meeting with the build team and
viewing the vast variety of show winning bike styles that Azzkikr
creates, Frank knew who was going to build his personal ride.
As with any custom build, an interview took place to iron out
Frank’s concept and ideas. The details were finalized by
the pro-builders at Azzkikr Customs. They had come up
with a bike design that would be suitable for Frank’s
size, comfortable for long rides and incorporated all
of Frank’s ideas.

HOME RUN
Frank liked the
long low look of the Pro Street
bikes in the Azzkikr show room. So the build
team started with a Pro Street frame that
once assembled would stretch the bike out to
a 9 foot-6 inch overall length. They added flowing
sheet metal, which moulded the tank with the seat,
finishing the look with chromed perforated metal
inserts for the chin spoiler. The bike’s lines flow from
front to back creating the image of being in motion
even when it is parked.

Frank lives in Kelowna, BC and very often rides
his bike to Vancouver (a four hour run). With the
round trip being done within a full eight-hour
day, the bike required a full suspension and a
comfortable seat. A Legend air ride suspension
was hidden beneath the transmission. The seat
itself was custom designed for Frank’s size and
weight with added gel packs and contoured for
his body. The seat not only looks good, it is fully
functional. The combination of the two components creates one of the best riding bikes that
the Azzkikr team has ever built.
FEATURED BIKE
This long, low, sleek scooter has plenty of “get up and go” with a 113
cubic inch Ultima Performance Engine mated to a six-speed transmission.
This power combination has proven to be both smooth and reliable… great
for bombing around town or cruising the highways. Paying attention to
the fine details of the bike, the Azzkikr builders used a set of Climax hand
controls which keep the wires and cables out of sight. The result is a very
clean bike allowing the focus to be on the smooth lines and paint finish. One
of the things that Frank requested was a paint job that “jumps out at you”. The
paint on this bike does just that, with a dark candy red over silver accents. Like
a chameleon; in the direct sunlight the silver accents pop out and at night the
paint looks like black cherry. People flock to this bike just to look at the paint
finish and the depth of the colour.

During the build, Frank was in the Azzkikr shop in Surrey,
BC several times, but due to his busy schedule, had not
seen the bike between the mock up, completed paint
and the finishing stages. When he saw the final product,
everyone could see how much Frank appreciated the
design, the fabrication, the style and the fit & finish.
The Azzkikr team hit a home run! Thanks to Azzkikr
Customs, Frank Sostirics no longer has a problem
with a bike fitting him or his riding needs. He especially enjoys all the attention that the bike garners
wherever he goes. As Frank says with an ear-to-ear
smile, “people love this bike and its cool looks”.
Frank’s new problem is that although he now has a
bike that he enjoys, fits his size and that he can ride
daily, he just can’t find enough time to get away
from work to do just that. Some problems are nice
problems to have.
