I NEED TO DO?
To claim your cashback you must have had an Energy
Performance Certificate (EPC) or a Green Deal Advice
Report (GDAR) completed in the last two years.
The energy saving measures you would like to have
installed must be recommended in either of these reports.
You can claim up to £100 cashback on your GDAR costs,
as long as you fit some of the recommended measures.

EPC?
ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE (EPC)
EPC’s were introduced when buying or selling a home to give a rough guide on
the energy efficiency of the property.
THE AVERAGE COST OF AN EPC
IS BETWEEN £35 AND £100
An EPC will only give you a general idea of
energy efficiency. It will not look at how many
people live in your home or how your energy is
being used.
This is important as you may have EPC
recommendations that are not practical or
suitable for your home eg underfloor heating
when your property has solid floors.

GDAR?
A Green Deal Advice Report (GDAR) goes into a lot more depth and covers
everything an EPC does plus offers an occupancy assessment (OA).
This tailors your report to the people living in your property.
Depending on the size of your property, a GDAR will typically cost you £100 - £250
but you can claim cashback of up to £100 with a Home Improvement Fund voucher if
you install some of the recommended measures.
A GDAR will give you more tailored
recommendations to protect your investment,
reduce your bills and potentially get you more
cashback.

DEAL FINANCE?
The Home Improvement Fund has been designed to work with the Government
backed Green Deal Finance scheme, however you can still use whatever finance is
best for you.
The Green Deal is a new scheme to help you
install energy saving home improvements with
little or no upfront cash requirements or a need
for incurring personal debt.

The big benefit of using Green Deal Finance, is
that it is not a personal loan.
The loan is attached to the property so if you
move the new owner will benefit from the
reduced bills and you will not be paying for their
savings.

HOW DO I PAY
FOR MY GREEN DEAL?
The Golden Rule: ‘The work should never cost more than the savings it will make’
• The energy company makes repayments for you out of your electricity bills.
THEY ARE INCLUDED NOT ADDED TO YOUR BILL.

• You pay back at most what you’re predicted to save on energy bills each month,

This should cost you £100 - £250, depending on which company you use and the size

ANSWER
The original Green Deal Cashback expired on the 30th June 2014. It was replaced with
the home improvement fund which offers a cashback via four separate funding offers.
