Summer 2015 Arrival Information
Upon your arrival to the United States, students are required to take
the pre-entry assessment quiz, determining eligibility to study in the
Intensive English Program at ELI.
This quiz is a follow-up to part 2 of the ELI application and will evaluate
if the student is below Level 1. The Intensive English Program is for
students with English skills Level 1 through Level 6. ELI does not
accept Pre-1 (or Level 0) students. Students may take the test one time.
Any student who fails to pass the pre-entry assessment quiz will be asked
to transfer to a different school.
The following dates are available to take the assessment quiz in Trimble
Hall Room 200 at 10:00 am. Bring photo identification and plan to
spend about 45 minutes in the testing room. The quiz will include
writing, reading with a possible interview of listening and speaking.

****All students should arrive on registration day to begin the semester on time. Your
registration date is listed on number 5 of your I-20. If you cannot arrive by day one,
additional charges will be added to your student account. Arrival on day 2 or 3 will be a $50
charge. NO STUDENTS will be admitted or register AFTER DAY THREE.

F-1 Students: Passport, I-20, I-94 number

Health Requirements for Intensive English Program students
The University of Texas System is pleased to offer AcademicBlue, its Student Health Insurance Plan,
underwritten by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and administered by Academic HealthPlans.
International Students (Mandatory)
All international students holding non immigrant visas are eligible and are required to purchase this Student
Health Insurance Plan in order to complete registration, except for those students sponsored on government
scholarships.
TB Test Requirements
International Students (Mandatory)
All non-US citizens/permanent residents are required to show proof if a TB test and/or X-ray done in the
US within the last 12 months to clear the Health Services requirement. Do not take the TB test before
arriving in the USA. You will be given an appointment time on the first day of the semester. The test is
free for those subscribing to the UTA student health insurance through Academic HealthPlans. For all other
insurance policies the TB test is $65.

Tuition fees and Payment Policy
1. Students MUST pay all tuition and insurance fees in one full payment within 15 days after registration date.
If a student fails to do so, he/she may not be able to attend classes until full payment is made, and the
absences will be counted.
2. The deadline for the payment is the last day of the first week of the program.
3. A student who has an outstanding balance at the end of a semester will not be eligible to continue in ELI,
and will not receive a certificate and grade report until the outstanding balance is paid in full.
Refund Policy
If a student of Intensive English withdraws on or after the first program day, then the refund shall be
determined as indicated:
FALL and SPRING SEMESTERS
During first program week 80%
During second program week 70%
During third program week 50%
During fourth program week 25%
After fourth program week NO REFUND
SUMMER SEMESTER
During the first, second or third program day 80%
During the fourth, fifth or sixth program day 50%
After sixth program day NO REFUND
**A program week includes registration and holidays. A program week begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday and
ends at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.**
NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN AFTER NORMAL REFUND PERIOD REGARDLESS OF WHEN
STUDENTS REGISTERS
New Student Orientation
ELI is committed to ensuring the success of each incoming student. Each new student is required to attend
the new student orientation. These sessions provide the student with an opportunity to meet other new
entering students and learn important information necessary to succeed at ELI.
These sessions conclude with the signing and turning in of ELI policies. Completion of these sessions is
required in order to continue taking classes. Students who do not complete these introductory classes may not
be able to attend regular ELI classes until sessions are made up or the materials are completed. Absences will
be counted.
