Amendment proposal 1. Existing: 3. Membership I) Any member upon reaching the milestone of 200 games, or upon being a financial member of the club for a period of ten years, inclusive of being officially appointed as a committee member or a sub-committee secretary (excluding sub-committee members) for a full calendar year, shall be eligible to be invested with a life membership of the club, subject to Executive Committee ratification. For any reason outside those stated in this sub-section, the Executive Committee is to bring forward a motion of acceptance at the next Annual General Meeting whereby the decision for acceptance is to be voted on by financial club members. Amended to: 3. Membership I) Any member upon reaching the milestone of 100 games, or upon being a financial member of the club for a period of ten years, not including senior games whilst still playing junior cricket for Elwood, inclusive of being officially appointed as a committee member or a sub-committee secretary (excluding sub-committee members) for a full calendar year, shall be eligible to be invested with a life membership of the club, subject to Executive Committee ratification. If a person was not a financial member during that period of 10 years, that is they were absent from the club for a period of time, they would have to be a financial member for an additional two calendar years once they have achieved becoming a financial member for a period of ten years to be considered for life membership. Once a financial member has been deemed eligible for life membership, the Executive Committee should consider the following, but not limited to, achievements at the club before awarding life membership: Executive Committee participation, senior or junior coaching, captaincy, premierships, Charles A Norris winners, John Feehan Award winners, Ray Howard Medal winners (seniors). For any reason outside those stated in this sub-section, the Executive Committee is to bring forward a motion of acceptance at the next Annual General Meeting whereby the decision for acceptance is to be voted on by financial club members. Purpose: Tighten the eligibility for life membership. Amendment proposal 2. Existing: 4. Committees b) The Executive Committee shall consist of the following office bearers: President Vice President Secretary Assistant Secretary Treasurer The General Committee shall comprise no more than 10 persons inclusive of any sub-committee secretaries. It is advisable that a committee representative be included on the team selection panel. Amended to: 4. It is advisable that a committee representative be included on the team selection panel. Purpose: Remove Assistant Secretary from Executive Committee as the position is no longer relevant. Amendment proposal 3. Existing: AWARDS e) Batters shall be required to make at least 200 runs (120 juniors) in the home and away matches to become eligible for the batting average in their grade. Should all players fail to reach this target, then the target shall be dropped by units of 50 (25 juniors) runs at a time until the required target has been reached. To be eligible for an outstanding batting award, the batter must make a score of 100 or more. Amended to: e) Batters shall be required to make at least 200 runs (120 juniors) in both the home and away, and finals, matches to become eligible for the batting average in their grade. Should all players fail to reach this target, then the target shall be dropped by units of 50 (20 juniors) runs at a time until the required target has been reached. If no player makes 100 runs or more in a particular grade in that season, then the batting award can be given on merit or not at all, subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee. To be eligible for an outstanding batting award, the batter must make a score of 100 or more. Purpose: Reduce junior run requirements to be more workable (25 to 20) and to tighten the awards for batting when the threshold is too low. Amendment proposal 4. Existing: AWARDS e) Bowlers shall be required to take at least 20 wickets in the home and away matches to become eligible for the bowling average in their grade. To win this average the bowler must bowl at least half the number of overs of that of the most bowled player in the team during the home and away matches. Should all players fail to reach this target, then the target shall be dropped by units of 5 wickets at a time until the required target has been reached. To be eligible for outstanding bowling awards, the bowler must take at least 7 wickets in any one innings or 10 wickets over 2 innings of the same match. Amended to: AWARDS e) Bowlers shall be required to take at least 20 wickets in both the home and away, and finals, matches to become eligible for the bowling average in their grade. To win this average the bowler must bowl at least half the number of overs of that of the most bowled player in the team during the home and away matches. Should all players fail to reach this target, then the target shall be dropped by units of 5 wickets at a time until the required target has been reached. If no player takes 10 wickets or more in a particular grade in that season, then the bowling award can be given on merit or not at all, subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee. To be eligible for outstanding bowling awards, the bowler must take at least 7 wickets in any one innings or 10 wickets over 2 innings of the same match. Purpose: To tighten the awards for bowling when the threshold is too low. Amendment proposal 5. Add a subsection (k) to the AWARD section regarding Junior Club Championship: k) The junior club championship shall be awarded to the junior player of any age group who achieves the highest point basis, using the same points basis at the Charles A Norris Medal. In the event of a tie, the Executive Committee can choose to award a joint junior club champion at their discretion. Purpose: To formalise the Junior Club Championship within the constitution. Amendment proposal 6. Add a subsection (k) to the MEMBERSHIP section regarding behaviour and code of conduct. Attach the Elwood Code of Conduct to the Constitution as an appendix. (k) All players, coaches, team managers, parents and supporters must adhere to the club’s Code of Conduct. Any player, coach, team manager, parent or supporter who violates the Code of Conduct to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee will face a disciplinary tribunal established by the Executive Committee. The punishment distributed by the disciplinary tribunal is final, is at the complete discretion of the disciplinary tribunal and cannot be appealed. Purpose: To establish a code of conduct and a mechanism by which it can be enforced.
