W NE ELYSATOR engineering water 5 PERFECT HEATING WATER …. for an ecologically sound and efficient heating system No rust The SorbOx® filter separates rust and sludge from the water, preventing blockage of system components. No scaling The PUROTAP® cartridge absorbs all dissolved minerals from the circulating water within a few hours. No gases The ELYSATOR® unit removes corrosive and acidic gases. Micro gas bubbles are separated, collected and removed through the venting network. SorbOx® Effective all round protection for heating water SorbOx® LI Protects against rust, limescale and gases. Advanced heating systems are very compact with high heating output. However, they are more sensitive to rust, limescale and sludge, which reduces heating efficiency. No system is completely impermeable: fittings, air vent valves and threaded adaptors can allow the ingress of air. Low operating temperatures, particularly in heat pumps, and higher amounts of salt in cylinders also place huge demands on the heating water. This can result in efficiency losses of 10-20 % after just 12 months. The new SorbOx® is the result of over 40 years of research and development in the field of water technology for heating systems. This appliance is a perfect marriage of the most important cutting-edge technologies. SorbOx® is designed to support advanced, energy efficient heating systems and preserve their value. The problem is caused by water quality that is inferior to the technical requirements. Minerals, salts and corrosive gases enter the system water via the fill water and any seals that are not sufficiently tight. ELYSATOR® reliably solves this problem by extracting the corrosive gases from the water and using a sacrificial anode made from a special alloy to bind acidic substances. The system is measurable and reliable, with no chemicals or external power supply, and is recommended by renowned trade associations, institutes and manufacturers. Installation and maintenance are easy and affordable. Suitable for all heating and cooling systems. Another advantage of PUROTAP® is that it removes all neutral salts such as chloride, sulphate and nitrate which can cause corrosion under certain conditions. Preferred applications ÆÆ Fill and top-up water for heating and cooling systems ÆÆ Cleaning water for solar panels, windows, high pressure cleaners etc. ÆÆ Water equivalent to distillate for irons, dehumidifiers, aquariums etc. ELYSATOR engineering water Tested ion exchange resin The quality and composition of the ion exchange resin used for full desalination can have a major influence on whether or not a heating system is subject to corrosion right from the start. There are significant quality differences in the composition of ion exchange resin. Ion exchange resins with only a small amount of anion resin are low in price and appear to have a high desalination capacity. In practice, however, they aerate the water with carbon dioxide after a certain amount of time. Instead of the desired full desalination, only partial desalination takes place combined with the formation of acid. When filling the heating system, only the electrical conductivity is checked, which means that it is not apparent whether correct full desalination has taken place, or only partial desalination with the formation of carbon dioxide. + ELYSATOR® therefore checks the production and mixing of its resin with the utmost care. Only the best quality reaches the market. PLEASE NOTE Ion exchange resin with an insufficient amount of anion resin produces carbon dioxide! Domestic hot water: with minerals and gases + Special PUROTAP® 2-component mixing bed resin Alkalisation Correct full desalination can eliminate the need for additional alkalisation. The unpolluted circulating water is self-alkalised within a few weeks of operation. However, analytical follow-up checks of the pH value are required all the same. Expert intervention is required if self-alkalisation does not occur. "Sacrificial anode" type corrosion protection systems are self-regulating and suitable for operation with low salt content according to VDI 2035, Part 2 or SWKI BT 102-01 and Ö-NORM H 5195-1. + Fully desalinated water through ion exchange PUROTAP® 500 and 1000 Resin cartridges with special 2-component mixing bed resin 9 10 ELYSATOR engineering water Q U IC K EASY SA F E PUROTAP® 500 / 1000 disposable cartridge Fully softened fill water for smaller heating systems The cartridge uses a very simple method to filter limescale and corrosive substances out of the fill water and provides perfect heating water with low salt content according to VDI 2035. W NE PUROTAP® expert operates with hyper filtration – a highly advanced process. Computer simulations helped designers optimise the flow pattern of water inside the cleverly designed tank, resulting in high filtration velocities that are unique to this system. The integral high pressure pump enables the PUROTAP® expert to achieve a throughput of 20 l/min, or 1200 l/h. Raw water is pushed inside the PUROTAP® expert at pressures of up to 18 bar through a filter diaphragm with a gauge width of less than one nanometre – this equates to one millionth of a millimetre. This holds back all dissolved solids, in other words, only pure water molecules pass through the diaphragm. The hyper filtered water is particularly suitable for technical applications, as dissolved minerals, heavy metals and pesticides, as well as bacteria and organic matter are removed from the water. An optimised and fully automatic flushing process keeps the filter diaphragm clean whilst in use. All PUROTAP® expert components operate without use of power. Technical design innovations allowed controllers and regulating valves that are susceptible to failure to be avoided. On average, the filter diaphragm only needs to be replaced once every 100,000 litres*. Compared to ion exchange, this keeps running costs substantially lower. * depending on the hardness of the raw water and the amount of impurities it contains 20 litres per minute 1200 litres per hour ELYSATOR engineering water PUROTAP® expert Fully desalinated water through hyper filtration Mobile unit for fast, ecologically sound and affordable demineralisation of tap water. ELYSATOR engineering water ELYSATOR® develops technical water Turning a raw material into a technical fluid Engineering water is what we do For some technical applications water is subject to requirements that are even stricter than those for potable water. We develop water until it is suitable for the required application. We call this engineering water. Founded in 1950 by Heinrich Rickenbach, ELYSATOR Engineering AG is a family business that is rich in tradition. In 2013, CEO Manuel Rickenbach and his staff moved into a newly built complex of offices, warehouse and production facilities in Bilten, Switzerland that were tailored to the company's continuing growth. Alongside its subsidiary ELYSATOR Engineering GmbH in Germany, ELYSATOR® is represented in around 20 countries worldwide. Water filters from ELYSATOR® are manufactured mainly in Switzerland and are used to clean water circuits for technical purposes, such as those found in heating and cooling systems, as well as in engine circuits on ships and in power plants. Heating water directives – VDI 2035, SWKI BTI 102-01, ÖNORM H5195-1, DIN EN 12828 Official standards emphasise the importance of fill and top-up water quality in heating systems. Treated water for technical purposes must comply with the technical standards set out by manufacturers, engineers and trade associations in terms of its chemical and physical properties. Standards ÆÆ increase the availability of components ÆÆ reduce manufacturing costs ÆÆ increase energy efficiency ÆÆ assist warranty effectiveness and consumer protection Systems should be operated in a way that conserves their value. We help that happen by preventing interruptions to production, and helping to ensure compliance with ecological specifications.
