Messenger Platform enables developers to easily build apps that integrate with Messenger; so
that the more than 600 million people who use Messenger can find new, fun ways to express
themselves with GIFs, photos, videos, audio clips and more. With Messenger Platform, an
app’s content can be shared through private and group messages to spark conversations
that are creative and expressive, while providing developers with growth and reengagement
opportunities.
Expression: Messenger Platform is designed to give people more opportunities to express
themselves in conversations with friends.
Discovery: Grow your audience and start reaching the 600M+ people using Messenger. Get
discovered in conversations when someone sends something with your app, their friends will see
where it came from, along with a link to install the app.
Engagement: Drive engagement with Reply links built right into the conversations to bring
people back to your app, where they can find more stuff to send to their friends in Messenger.

connect with you in Messenger. Then you’ll be able to send them personalized updates.
Send rich, detailed messages they’ll appreciate: Use custom layouts designed for order
confirmation, shipping updates and more. This lets your customers keep all their order info in
one place and reach out to you if they need to change anything.
Offer support on a whole new level: Be available to your customers in a more personal way and
answer any questions that come up through your preferred live chat provider.
Make it easy to stay in touch: Reach customers wherever they are with timely, relevant push

Acquired by Facebook 2 year ago, Parse is providing a cross-platform Mobile Backend as a Service.
This means that Parse helps you to focus on creating a great user experience and forget complex
infrastructure.
Parse Core:
• Data: Parse handles everything you need to store data securely and efficiently in the cloud.
• Social: Connect your users via traditional logins or third party social networks with just a few
lines of code. We take care of keeping everything safe and secure so you don’t have to.
• Run custom app code: with our cloud, say goodbye to servers and hello to rich, custom
server-side logic.
Parse Push:
• Every month, our Parse push infrastructure sends out 5B+ notifications to devices across the world.
• The Push Console allows any user, technical or not, to send notifications directly from the
Parse web interface. For tech people, we have Parse SDKs.

GROW - A Better Sharing Experience
Providing a consistent experience to help you reach the right people.
Today there are more than a dozen ways you can share to Facebook from apps on mobile and
desktop. Developers are building a variety of custom sharing experiences, as well as using products
we’ve built. This has driven high usage of sharing tools - in fact, people shared more than 50 billion
pieces of content from apps in 2014.
At the same time, having all these different experiences makes sharing inconsistent for people, and
requires significant work for developers. The new Share Sheet will make sharing more consistent
by featuring the following improvements:
• Consistent, clear and
predictable sharing
experience for people
using apps
• Sharing to a more precise
audience, e.g. to groups
and messenger
• Tag your friends and
preview content
• No Login required
The new share sheet will be available soon, and we’re excited to hear your feedback.
8
GROW - App Invites
A new way to grow your app organically.
36% of all apps that people discover are via word-of-mouth recommendations from
family or friends.— AC Nielsen study. We also found that invites with a personalized
message convert at more than double the rate of invites that don’t have one.
Product Features
• Invite Content Preview: We find that people are more likely to send invite if they have an idea
of what it will look like. The sender can add a personal message that will be shown to the
recipients and you can customize the image on an invite basis.
• Notification & Invite Feed: Once the recipient clicked the notification, they’re taken to the
new invites area in the Facebook app where they will see the personalized sender message,
and a big custom image.
• In-process App Store & Notification once the app has been installed
• Blocking controls: Blocking lets us make sure that invites are going to people who are interested in getting them, and puts people in control of their own Facebook experience, so this
channels stays effective for you to get more installs in the long run.
• While not needed, implementing Facebook Login can enhance the social aspects of the invite
experience. People can send and receive invites in the native Facebook app or in their mobile
web browser.

GROW - Facebook Analytics for Apps
A single place to understand your app’s audience and measure how people use your app.
Event-based
Metrics
Segments
Funnels
Cohorts
Ad Integrations
Facebook Analytics for Apps helps you better understand how people are using your iOS,
Android or Canvas app. Facebook Analytics for Apps is unique in two ways:
• People Focused: People are increasingly accessing your app and website across multiple
devices. Facebook Analytics helps you answer questions like “what percentage of the people
in Canada that installed my mobile app ended up purchasing on my website?”
• Cross device: Analyze how people are using apps and websites on multiple devices. For example, Facebook Analytics for Apps help you see whether you have three distinct audiences
on tablet, mobile and desktop, or one highly engaged audience across all devices.
Try out the Facebook Analytics for Apps demo app (see link at the end of this document) to see
some of the graphs that are included by default. If you’re already logging app events in your app,
you can start using Facebook Analytics today.
Data in Facebook Analytics is driven by Facebook App Events. The Facebook SDK includes fourteen built-in events for you to use for the most common types of data, but you can also define
your own to use in your app.

GROW - Facebook Analytics for Apps
Product Features
Events:
Dive into the trends of what is happening in your app.
Break down trends by country, age, gender, language
and platform in order to gain insights about how
specific groups of people use your app.
Segments:
Segments are powerful filters that you can use on top
of your funnels or cohorts to answer questions about
a group of users who you’d like to understand better.
For example, you can create a segment of Android
users that accounted for the top 10% of your sales to
better understand what makes those people tick.
Funnels:
Discover when your customers are having a problem
getting through your app. Whether a checkout flow is
asking for too much information, a level is too hard to beat,
or you have a bug in your latest release – funnels help you
get to the bottom of the problem.

GROW - Facebook Analytics for Apps
Product Features
Cohorts:
Cohorts help you understand how your existing
customers are performing compared to historical
customers. For instance, you can look at what
percentage of people who installed your app on a
given day are still opening your app one week later.
You can use cohorts to better understand retention,
lifetime value, and repeat purchase rate.
Analytics creates an overview page for you app:

MONETIZE - LiveRail and Audience Network
Providing developers more ways to maximize revenue for their apps.
Audience Network and LiveRail are connected to Facebook’s 2M+
advertisers, enabling publishers to better monetize their app and
maximize their ad revenue.
LiveRail: Mobile app publishers will be able to use
LiveRail’s monetization platform to manage their
video and display ads business. Additionally, LiveRail
is enabling publishers to use Facebook’s approach for
delivering the right ad to the right audience - resulting
in more revenue and better experiences for people.
Audience Network: Audience Network continues
to grow rapidly. Since we launched in October, the
number of apps in the network has nearly quadrupled
and impressions served by the network nearly
quintupled. Publishers like Cheetah mobile,
Etermax and News Republic have seen
immediate success.
• For publishers and developers, this means an easier way to manage ads from a variety of
sources, resulting in better monetization.
• For advertisers, this means ads are delivered to the right audience - leading to higher return
on investment.
• And for people, it means more relevant ads.

TOOLS - Graph API v2.3 & Facebook SDK v4.0
Updated tools for developers.
Graph API v2.3
Last year at F8, we introduced API versioning, as well as a two-year stability guarantee for Core APIs
as part of our commitment to provide a stable platform for developers. API v2.3 marks our fourth
versioned API release, and we remain committed to releasing changes to our Platform through
versioning.
For a complete list of changes and new features see the changelog and upgrade guide.

Facebook SDK v4.0: Easier error handling and reduced size makes integration even easier.
This is our first major update to the iOS and Android SDKs in more than two years. We’ve spent
the past year talking to our developer community about how we can make their lives easier, so we
rebuilt our SDKs to reflect their feedback.
For full details on the new tools and features, see the upgrade guides and changelog.
