EXTEND – COURSE (AGES 8–16) - Emil Dale`s Performing Arts

EXTEND – COURSE (AGES 8–16)
OVERVIEW
INTRODUCTION
EDSA EXTEND
EDSA has grown from strength to strength since it opened
its doors in 2009. From starting with just 3 classes a week
in a school hall, it’s developed into a machine of outstanding
training. The Extend course is here to nurture the young
talent of today, to give them the same level of training
that you would get at a stage school, without having to
leave home or pay extortionate fees.
As a leading Performing Arts School in Herts and Beds, Emil Dale is
a major centre of excellence boasting fully professional facilities and
achieving exceptional standards in training and production values.
A high percentage of our graduate students move on to top theatre schools
in the UK and onwards into the profession. In recent years graduates
have secured places at Arts Ed, Mountview, GSA, Rose Bruford, East 15,
Central, Urdang, Bodywork, LIPA, Drama Centre, Masters and others. Many
are currently performing, directing and choreographing in the West End and
on national and international Tours.
“Classes literally are so
amazing” - BTEC Student
The School has excellent links with London’s vibrant theatre world

and also attracts a high calibre of directors and practitioners who visit
regularly to run master-classes and direct or choreograph projects.
The schools Patrons include West End star Kerry Ellis, Producer and
lighting designer Bob Bustance, plus Chris Hocking, Head of Arts
Ed London.
This new EXTEND course is carefully designed to cater for students aged
8 – 16 years. It is specifically for students wishing to commit to an intensive
training programme to fully prepare for entry into top drama schools or
universities. Students should have a genuine ambition to work in the
performing arts industry.
Student welfare is a top priority, and you will be provided with all the
pastoral care you need. Staff have been trained in safe-guarding and child
protection, and we have an open door policy, whereby any of our students
can come and talk to any member of the faculty about any concerns or
worries.
Emil Dale is dedicated to “enabling personal excellence through
performance”. We look forward to working with the talented new students
who we are confident will benefit immeasurably from this exciting new
course at Emil Dale Academy.

THE COURSE
EDSA EXTEND
The course is carefully designed to cater for students aged 8–16 years.
It is specifically for students wishing to commit to an intensive training
programme to fully prepare students who wish to further their performance
skills. Students should have a genuine ambition to work in the performing
arts industry. The rigorous programme will provide specialist training in
Musical Theatre, Dance and Acting where students will join for core
elements and then further specialise by opting for certain modules.
WHAT DOES THE COURSE OFFER?
The course offers intensive skills development, working with an excellent
range of practitioners and creative staff. Students will extend their repertoire
and receive high intensity training and guidance for auditions, enabling
them to further their development at Professional Performing Arts Schools.
There are numerous performance opportunities with West End performance
values.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I
ACHIEVE?
You will receive a pass, merit or distinction certificate from the Emil
Dale Academy, annualy. This will be granted based on internal yearly
assessments.
WHAT STANDARD DO I NEED TO BE
TO AUDITION?
This is not a beginners course. It is expected that students possess a very
good standard in the skills required for acting and/or musical theatre and
have already gained significant experience in performance, examinations
and/or auditions. We are very interested in the “raw”, less experienced
performer, who can demonstrate an excellent natural ability in the audition.
We appreciate dance ability will range for those interested in
Musical Theatre. We are able to stream dance training to suit however,
it is expected that all students are competent “movers” and have
a determination to improve dance whilst on the course. The audition and
interview is a two-way process. If in doubt, come and audition and we
guarantee constructive feedback to everyone.
