Materials Not Accepted
- Hazardous waste, flammable materials, pesticides and herbicides.
- Construction, demolition, roofing, lumber and remodeling debris
including sinks, commodes, or
carpeting.
- Used motor oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid.
- Commercial, industrial or contractor waste.
- Batteries, tires or other auto parts.
- Items containing freon - air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, etc. unless
freon has been removed by certified technician and tagged.

1) Leave only recyclable materials.
2) Rinse and remove caps from all food and beverage containers.
3) Deposit all recyclable materials in the designated bins. (Placing non-recyclable items in
bins will contaminate the load. Please don't do it!)
4) Glass recycling applies to food and beverage containers only. Mirrors, window glass,
ceramics, dishes, etc. are not recyclable.
5) Plastic Bags - all types.

Having difficulty disposing of certain items?
Automobile Tires- Most new tire retailers will accept old tires to recycle for a small fee ($1-$3 each).
Tires should be relatively clean and off the rim.
Used Motor Oil- Most auto parts stores will accept used motor oil.This does not include the filter. Call
store before taking oil for their guidelines.
" Construction, Demolition, and Remodeling Debris - (This includes roofing, lumber. bricks,
carpet, linoleum, sinks, commodes, etc.)- The Griffin/Spalding Landfill located on Shoal Creek Road, will
accept these items. Phone# 770-228-0430. Call for prices.
o Refrigerators, Freezers, and Air Conditioners- (any appliance containing freon) -Call buy
back centers listed below for scrap metal.

Batteries- All buy back centers for aluminum and scrap metal.
" Paint - Tum all liquid paint into a solid by adding sand or cat litter, wrap the can in newspaper and
dispose of with household garbage.
