The conference aims to immerse high-achieving young women from
throughout Queensland in business. Facilitated by academics from
UQ Business School, industry representatives and St Aidan’s, the
conference is aimed at girls in Years 10 to 12 wanting to continue their
Business Education.

Keynote Speaker: Skye Anderton, Founder of Ruby Olive Jewellery
Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories
comes from the colourful imagination
of founder Skye Anderton, the primary
designer of the brand. Skye has been
involved in the Jewellery and Fashion Accessory Industry for over 14 years,
with experience in design, buying and product development. Based in
London for 8 years, she moved back to Australia in 2010 and Ruby Olive
was born. Ruby Olive is the namesake of Skye’s grandmother.
Skye is a campaigner for international women’s rights and believes
educating and empowering women in not only Australia but across the
globe can significantly change the future for the better. She heavily supports
The Hunger Project (a global project helping to end the cycle of poverty in
developing nations) and Mummy’s Wish (an Australian charity supporting
mums with cancer). In 2014 Skye won the Telstra Young Business Woman of the year (QLD) and was
named one of Queensland’s Best and Brightest.
Speakers & Topics from UQ Business School:
Dr Sheranne Fairley – Senior Lecturer in Tourism; Dr Fairley’s research focuses on three major
streams: sport and event tourism, volunteerism, and the globalization of sport.
Dr Nicole Hartley – Lecturer in Marketing; Nicole is the academic advisor and mentor for the
Community Engagement Program (CEP) open to all students focusing on business consultancy
projects for not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises.
Jemma King – Associate Lecturer in Management; Jemma is a current PhD student discussing the
evolution of the Princess Polly brand from local to global.
Dr Lance Newey – Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship & Innovation; discussing the Social
Entrepreneurship in Practice course challenging students to have to design, execute and incubate
their own social enterprise with measurable social and financially sustainable impact.
Professor Polly Parker - Professor in Leadership; Polly has established a national and international
reputation in the fields of career management and development, peer coaching, leadership
development, and human resource development.
