ÉCOLE D'ASSAS
ASSAS SCHOOL OF PHYSIOTHERAPY
AND PODIATRY
OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1936, the Ecole d’Assas is one of France’s most
prestigious and long-established schools for physiotherapy
and podiatry. Until the 1970s, the school was located at 28 rue
d'Assas, hence its name. Since 1973, the school has been situated
close to the centre of Paris, near the Eiffel Tower, well served by
public transportation and near to France’s major hospitals and
universities, thus offering a wide range of services to its students.
Each year, the Assas school trains 500 students in both podiatry
and physiotherapy.
In 2014, as proof of its vitality, Assas opened a second school of
physiotherapy in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, near Versailles.
This institution welcomes an additional 30 students each year.
The Assas School of Physiotherapy and Podiatry benefits from a
strong profile in educational sciences. This has helped to create
an innovative educational model that places experience at the
heart of the learning process.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
JEAN-JACQUES DEBIEMME
Our mission is to train health professionals so that they can
deal with complex situations and respond effectively to patients’
needs. From an educational perspective, the training we deliver
goes beyond merely attaining academic proficiency; it is meant
to build a sense of professional identity.
Every member of the teaching and administrative staff is fully
committed to the success of our students throughout their
training at our institution.
PODIATRY
JEAN-PASCAL BEAUMONT
The student-centred educational approach is based on a specific
set of principles intended to foster the following qualities among
students:
- professionalism;
- increased self-sufficiency over the three-year training course;
- understanding and adoption of professional rules and ethics;
- ability to use clinical reasoning and critical thinking;
- ability to practice in line with contemporary standards.
ASSAS CARE CLINIC
The Assas School of Podiatry offers an excellent care clinic
where patients receive the same standards of high-quality care
as those available in private practice.
In addition, the clinic serves as a facility in which students,
under the direct supervision of the teaching staff, provide health
care and pre- and post-prosthetic rehabilitation.
Within the environment of our clinic, students not only encounter
a wide variety of professional situations, they also learn from
both their own practices and those of their fellow students.
Around 3,000 patients visit the clinic each year for different
clinical situations.
Catering to patients from the entire Paris region, the clinic
provides superior care to children, adults and the elderly.
PHYSIOTHERAPY, AN EXCITING
CAREER
Physiotherapists work with people who have a variety of
disabilities. They use physical and technical means to promote
health, optimal rehabilitation and, whenever possible, recovery.
Physiotherapy's wide range of applications makes it an exciting
and rewarding career.
PODIATRY, A WORLD OF
OPPORTUNITIES
Podiatrists work to improve their patients' mobility, independence and quality of life by providing preventive care, diagnosis
and treatment of a wide range of problems affecting the feet,
ankles and lower limbs.
While the vast majority of podiatrists set up a private practice,
they may also work on a sessional basis in diverse establishments
such as private clinics, patients' homes, sports clubs or fitness
centres, or as teachers in podiatry schools or universities.
