Expressions of Interest – ACT Bushfire Council
The ACT Minister for Police and Emergency Services is seeking expressions
of interest from persons to fill vacancies on the ACT Bushfire Council, as well
as vacancies that may arise in the foreseeable future.
Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and People with
Disabilities and are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Council is established under section 127 of the ACT Emergencies Act
2004, and plays a critical role in providing advice to the Minister for Police and
Emergency Services and the Emergency Services Commissioner on matters
relating to bushfires in the ACT.
Nominees are expected to have skills and experience in one or more of the
following areas: fire sciences; land management; fighting fires in rural areas;
fighting fires in built-up areas; indigenous land management; rural lessees; the
community’s interest in the environment; and/or the community’s interests
generally.
The Council currently meets once a month and participates in a number of
field visits throughout the year. Council Members are remunerated as per the
ACT Remuneration Tribunal Determination for Advisory Bodies.
