ATHLETICS
BASKETBALL 2015
“Elizabeth Seton Academy is a member of
NEPSAC, New England Preparatory
Schools Athletic Council, and our division
is the GIL, Girls Independent League.”
Thank you to our dedicated coaches, and
thank you to all of our team players for
their participation, commitment, and
school spirit!
SOFTBALL 2015
“Elizabeth Seton Academy offers 3 varsity
sports: soccer, basketball and softball. As a
college preparatory school, our philosophy of
athletics is aligned with our academic policy.
Student athletes must maintain satisfactory
grades and attendance to be eligible for
membership on a team. A team member
makes a commitment to her teammates, the
coaching staff, and to the school.”
ESA Developments
Freshman Retreat
ESA not only embraces religious, cultural, and ethnic
diversity, but we believe in love, acceptance and the strength
of friendship. As an all girls Catholic school, we build a
sisterhood. We teach values and morals that can be used in
everyday lives. The girls are kind, they care for each other,
and listen to one another. This builds a spirit that can’t be
broken. Throughout the year, each class has a scheduled
retreat where the students, faculty and staff participate in
reflection and prayer exercises that build a deeper, emotional
connection with one another and the Catholic tradition.

Senior Service
Each year, our graduating seniors are required
to fulfill senior service. This service requires
the girls to embrace a commitment to others
through volunteering and servicing those in
need. This year the girls are in programs with
Carney Hospital, PJP, local food pantries, the
Boston Police Department, among many
others. Once they are done with their service,
they come back and present their experiences
to us in a PowerPoint presentation with their
fellow students, faculty, and staff.
“On Thursday, May 7th, several of our current CSF Scholars
attended a Mass and Reception held in their honor at the
Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The Mass recognized all CSF
Scholars, including our new Scholars. Micha is joining ESA
from St. John Paul Academy Lower Mills Campus, and Yen
from Mother Caroline Academy. As Cardinal Sean, Kathy
Mears and Mike Reardon emphasized last week, always
remember that someone loves you and believes in you.”
Poetry Out Loud
Wednesday, January 7th, ESA hosted their 2nd annual Poetry Out Loud
competition. This competition demonstrates how well a student can
verse and memorize a poem with the correct rhyme and meter. Eight
students were a part of the competition reciting poems by Al Young,
Emily Dickinson, and Maya Angelou, among many others. Ultimately,
three students hit the mark; for best dramatic appropriateness, Sheila
Duplan who recited “The Negro Speaks of Rivers” by Langston Hughes,
runner-up, Shannon Flaherty who recited “Domestic Situation” by
Ernest Hilbert, and overall winner, Kailana Harriot who recited “The
Animals in that Country” by Margaret Atwood. If you wish to see the
winning performance, please log on to ESA’s YouTube channel at:
