Presentation of the draft law on Labor Migration
On January 27, The Ministry of Economy and
Sustainable Development of Georgia has organized a
meeting with the representatives of Business
Associations in Georgia.
The topic of the meeting was to exchange views on the
draft law on Labor Migration. The Deputy Minister
Mikheil Janelidze has presented main features of the
draft law.
The presentation was followed by discussion and Q&A session. On behalf of EUGBC, Senior Adviser Valerian Gvalia
had participated.
EUGBC took part in Georgia-Lithuania Business Forum
On January 27, Georgia-Lithuania Business Forum was
held in Tbilisi. In the Forum Senior Adviser Valerian
Gvalia has participated on behalf of EUGBC.
The Forum was inaugurated by Prime Ministers of
Georgia and Lithuania. Following the opening remarks
delivered by Prime Ministers, invited business
community
had an opportunity to introduce activities of their
companies.
Mr. Gvalia has informed Forum participants on the
EUGBC plans for 2015-2017.

EUGBC Secretary General meets Keti Bochorishvili, Vice Minister of Economy and
Sustainable Development of Georgia
EUGBC Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze held a
meeting with Ms. Keti Bochorishvili on January 28,
2015.
At the meeting issues related to the EUGBC Business
Conference, which is planned to take place in April 2015
in Brussels, were discussed.
The meeting was attended by EUGBC team members.
Both sides agreed to continue consultations.
EUGBC Members meeting with the State Minister of Georgia on European & EuroAtlantic Integration
EUGBC Members meeting with the State Minister of Georgia on European & Euro-Atlantic Integration was
held on January 29, 2015. The meeting was part of the EUGBC regular consultations with the high ranked
Government representatives. The meeting was attended by 15 large, small and medium size companies.
The State Minister informed EUGBC Business Community on the upcoming EAP Riga Summit expectations
and on the implementation process of AA/DCFTA.
EUGBC Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze has informed the State Minister on the Business Conference
which will be held in Brussels in April 2015.
The meeting was followed by Q & A Session.

EUGBC Meeting with “Lithuanian Bakery”
On February 3, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze had a meeting with Mr. Arunas
Meskauskas, “Lithuanian Bakery” Founder.
During the meeting EUGBC Secretary General spoke
about the EUGBC mission and EUGBC projects. Issues
related to the future cooperation between “Lithuanian
Bakery” and EUGBC were also discussed.
The meeting was attended by Giorgi Kacharava
(EUGBC) and Valerian Gvalia (EUGBC).
EUGBC meeting with “Deloitte”
On February 3, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze met with Mr. John Robinson, “Deloitte”
Partner to Georgia.
During the meeting the issues of cooperation between
EUGBC and “Deloitte” were discussed. The meeting was
held at “Deloitte” office in Tbilisi and was also attended
by EUGBC Adviser Valerian Gvalia.
EUGBC seminar on “Prospects of EU-Georgia Association Agreement/DCFTA” was
held in Gori
EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) with the support of the European Union organized a seminar on
“Prospects of EU-Georgia Association Agreement/DCFTA”. The seminar was held on February 5, 2015, at the
EU–GEORGIA BUSINESS COUNCIL (EUGBC)

Gori Municipality (Gori).
EUGBC Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of
Georgia Mikheil Janelidze and the Mayor of the City Municipality of Gori Zurab Djirkvelishvili welcomed the
seminar participants.
During the seminar Lali Chkheidze from Agricultural Cooperatives Development Agency (ACDA) spoke about the
importance of the development of agriculture in Georgia.
On this occasion EUGBC presented the leaflets on food hygiene, food labelling requirements and competition
(Authors: Lia Todua, Natia Kutivadze, Ketevan Lapachi) prepared by EUGBC with the support of the European
Union.
The goal of the seminar was to inform Georgian producers on important issues relating to DCFTA and accessing
the EU market, such as:





Tariff barriers in the trade with the EU;
Mutual recognition agreements;
Expected DCFTA-induced changes of the food hygiene and food labelling requirements in Georgia;
Institutional Framework for Competition Regulation in Georgia;
EU requirements and implications for Georgia.
The seminar was free and open to public and all the interested companies and individuals were welcomed to
attend.
EUGBC meeting with “Pasha Bank” representative
On February 9, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze met with Mr. Shahin Mammadov, Chief
Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of “Pasha
Bank”.
During the meeting EUGBC Secretary General spoke
about the EUGBC mission and goals as well as EUGBC
upcoming events. Mr. Shahin Mammadov expressed
“Pasha Bank’s” interest of possible EUGBC
membership.

EUGBC meeting with JSC Mina
On February 10, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze had a meeting with Mr. Umut Aydogan,
General Director of JSC Mina, Sisecam.
Issues related to EUGBC mission and goals and current
activities were discussed during the meeting. “JSC Mina,
Sisecam” representative expressed the Company’s
interest in EUGBC membership.
The meeting was also attended by EUGBC Staff.
EUGBC Board and Network Committee Meeting February, 2015
Meeting of EUGBC Board Members was held on
February 17, 2015 in EUGBC office. Following Board
Members participated in the meeting: Gia Gvaladze
(Director, External Affairs at BP-Georgia), Badri
Japaridze (TBC Bank), First Vice-Chairman of the
Board; David Lee (Magticom), Second Vice-Chairman
of the Board; Nick Gvinadze from Gvinadze & Partners
and David Loladze from Qatar Airways, as well as a
new Core Member Irakli Gachechiladze (Igroup,
Founder & Director).
EUGBC Management also took part in the meeting,
namely: Zviad Chumburidze, Secretary General;
Valerian Gvalia, Adviser and Giorgi Kacharava, Project
Manager.
The meeting addressed EUGBC Business Conference to
be held in Brussels on April 27, 2015.

On February 19, 2015 EUGBC Secretary Zviad
Chumburidze had a meeting with Mr. Giorgi Pertaia,
Director of the Georgian National Investment Agency.
During the meeting details of upcoming Brussels
Conference were discussed. The following meeting
between Mr. Chumburidze and Mr. Pertaia covering
Brussels Conference will be held in March, 2015.

Development
On February 20 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze had a meeting with Mikhail Janelidze,
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable
Development.
The issues discussed during the meeting covered the
details of the upcoming EUGBC Business Conference to
be held in Brussels on April 27, 2015.
The meeting was also attended by EUGBC Project
Manager Giorgi Kacharava.
EUGBC Meeting with “Nergeta” LTD
EUGBC Secretary General had a meeting with Mr.
Konstantine Vekua, Director of “Nergeta” LTD. The
meeting was held on February 25, 2015 at EUGBC office.
During the meeting Mr. Vekua informed the EUGBC staff
about the history of the “Nergeta” Company and its
relations with EU market. From the other side, EUGBC
Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze informed Mr.
Vekua about the EUGBC mission and goals, as well as
about the upcoming EUGBC Business Conference. Mr.
Vekua expressed his interest towards the EUGBC in
General, as well as towards the EUGBC Business
Conference, Expo and Economic Photo Exhibition.

EUGBC Secretary General met General Manager of “Marriot International”, Tbilisi
EUGBC Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze had a
meeting with Mr. Michael Kerschbaumer, Dual Property
General Manager Tbilisi Marriott Hotel and Courtyard
by Marriott Tbilisi at Marriott International.
The meeting was held on February 25, 2015 at Tbilisi
Marriot Hotel.
During the meeting EUGBC Secretary General informed
Mr. Kerschbaumer about the EUGBC mission and
activities, as well as the upcoming EUGBC Business
Conference that will be held in Brussels in April, 2015

EUGBC meeting with ABB Georgian Representation
On February 25, 2015 EUGBC Staff had a meeting with
Mr. Zaza Bakhia, Manager of ABB Georgian
Representation. During the meeting Mr. Bakhia was
informed about the EUGBC mission and goals and the
activities run by EUGBC for the last few years.
Mr. Bakhia was also informed on the upcoming EUGBC
Business Conference, to be held in Brussels in April,
2015 and the Company’s possible participation in the
conference was also discussed during the meeting.
The meeting was held at EUGBC Office.
EUGBC meeting with MFG Deputy Minister
On February 24, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze met with Mr. Giorgi Tabuashvili, First
Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, Head of LEPL
Revenue Service.
During the meeting EUGBC Secretary General spoke
about the upcoming EUGBC Business Conference that
will be held in Brussels in April, 2015. The issue of Mr.
Giorgi Tabuashvili’s participation in the conference, as
of the MFG high official, was also discussed.
EUGBC Meeting with Business Ombudsman of Georgia
On February 26, 2015 EUGBC held meeting with
Mr.Giorgi Gakharia, Business Ombudsman of Georgia at
TBC Bank Head Office.
The meeting was attended by 20 EUGBC Member
business companies, as well as EUGBC Management.
During the meeting issues related to the economic and
business environment of the country, necessity and
importance of frequent meetings between business and

government representative were discussed.
At the end of the meeting EUGBS Secretary General Mr.
Zviad Chumburidze spoke about the upcoming Brussels
Conference and asked the Businessmen to take active
part in the conference.

EUGBC had a meeting with Absheron Engineering LLC
On February 26, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze had a meeting with Andrew Graham,
Country Manager of ABSHERON ENGINEERING LLC.
During the meeting EUGBC SG spoke about the EUGBC
mission and goals. Mr. Andrew Graham expressed his
interest in EUGBC activities. The sides discussed the
issue of possible cooperation as well.
EUGBC Project Manager Valerian Gvalia also attended
the meeting.
EUGBC public lecture at Tbilisi State University
On March 10, 2015 EU-Georgia Business Council
(EUGBC) by cooperation with the Ivane Javakhishvili
Tbilisi State University organized a public
lecture: “Georgian Economic Integration in EU”. The
speaker was EUGBC Expert Mr. Amiran Kavadze,
former Ambassador of Georgia to the UK, Switzerland
and Sweden; Professor at the International Black Sea
University (IBSU).
The lecture was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State
University and was attended by the TSU students.

EUGBC Board Members meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mrs. Tamar
Beruchashvili held a meeting with EUGBC Board
Members on March 12, 2015. Mrs. Beruchashvili
welcomed EUGBC representatives to the Ministry and
informed them on the current state of EU-Georgia
political and economic developments in the run-up of
Eastern Partnership Riga Summit. Minister briefed
EUGBC delegation on the progress made by Georgia for
Visa Liberalization process. EUGBC Secretary General
informed Minister on Business Conference related
matter to be held in Brussels on April 27. The meeting
has addressed several other issues.
EUGBC Seminar – Telavi, Kakheti Region
The EU-Georgia Business council (EUGBC), in the
framework of the project supported by the European
Union, organized a seminar “Prospects of EU-Georgia
Association Agreement/DCFTA”. The Seminar was held
on March 11, 2015 in Telavi Municipality (Kakheti
Region).
The seminar was opened by EUGBC Secretary General
Zviad Chumburidze, David Bakradze, State Minister of
Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Givi
Metreveli, Deputy Governor of the State Attorney.

“Expected DCFTA-induced changes of the food hygiene

EUGBC took part at Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Business Forum
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey Business Forum was held
in Batumi on March 6, 2014. The Forum was organized
by National Investment Agency of Georgia. The forum
was inagurated by Mr. Irakli Garibashvili, Prime
Minister of Georgia. Welcome speeches were delivered
by Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili – Vice Prime-Minister,
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of
Georgia; Mr. Nihat Zeybekci – Minister of Economy of
Turkey and Mr. Shahin Mustafayev – Minister of
Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan.
On behalf of EUGBC, Senior Adviser Valerian Gvalia
had participated. Mr. Gvalia held meetings with the
representatives of Turkish and Azerbaijani business
community. Mr. Gvalia discussed possibility to organize
EUGBC affiliated Businessmen delegation visit to
Istanbul and to hold Economic Photo Exhibition and
Business EXPO by autumn 2015.

On March 4, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze had meeting with Mr. David
Bakradze, State Minister of Georgia on European and
Euro-Atlantic Integration.
During the meeting details regarding the upcoming
EUGBC Business Conference, that will be held in April,
2015, were discussed. The meeting was held at the State
Minister’s Office and was also attended by Georgia
Kakharava EUGBC Project Manager.

On March 18, EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze held a meeting with Mr. Radoslav
Dudolenski, “hydrolea” Executive Officer. Mr.
Dudolenski was accompanied by the Economic
Counselor of the Embassy of Bulgaria Mr. Iordan Tenev.
During the meeting issues of future cooperation
between EUGBC and “hydrolea” were discussed.

EUGBC meeting with “Alvani” cooperative
On 20, March 2015 EUGBC met with “Alvani”
cooperative representative from Kakheti region Mrs.
Lia Mapiashvili.
Mrs. Mapiashvili spoke about her business –
“churchkhela” production and expressed her interest
in the issues related to EU market.
MFA Minister Mrs. Tamar Beruchashvili visited International Black Sea University
On March 26, 2015 Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Georgia

International Black Sea University, where she gave a
public lecture on key directions of foreign policy of
Georgia. The lecture was attended by the university
academic personal and the university students. The
minister underlined the importance of direct
communication with the students. The lecture was

At the end of her visit Mrs. Tamar Beruchashvili met the university lecturers. During the meeting the minister was
informed about the university goals and action plan.
EUGBC meeting with Globus Vision representatives
On March 26, 2015 EUGBC Secretary General Zviad
Chumburidze met with Globus Vision representatives:
Project Director Tatyana Von Pannwitz and Editorial
Director Anthony Serra. The meeting was held at
EUGBC office. During the meeting the sides expressed
readiness to cooperation in future.
Globus Vision has been providing European business circles with informative publications on world economies
since 1997 and its publications reflect current developments in a range of countries worldwide. They are
constantly watching the world for new developments that countries and regions need to communicate. From Free
Trade Agreements to Peace Agreements, there is plenty of good news that needs to be shared.
EUGBC meeting with TSU Center for Analysis and Forecast
On March 30, EUGBC Secretariat met with
representative of Tbilisi State University Center for
Analysis and Forecast. During the meeting the TSU
representatives spoke about their activities and
missions.
EUGBC Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze
expressed readiness to assist the Center for Analysis
and Forecast in the series of lectures covering the
issues related to AA/DCFTA and business. Mr.
Chumburidze also spoke about the Business Conference
to be held in Brussels in April, 2015. The TSU
representatives were interested with the conference
issues and decided to attend the conference.

Cooperation between European Union and Georgia
EUGBC organized a meeting with Ambassador Janos Herman, Head of EU
Delegation to Georgia
EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) hosted
Ambassador Janos Herman, Head of the EU
Delegation to Georgia on January 13. The
meeting was attended by representatives of
fifteen Georgian as well as European
companies.
The meeting addressed several issues. The
ambassador informed businessmen on the EU
financial assistance projects dedicated to
Georgia, also on the implementation process of
the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and
DCFTA.
EUGBC Secretary General Zviad Chumburidze has informed business community on the planned EUGBC Business
Conference in Brussels in May 2015.
The meeting was closed following the Q&A session.

“Site Visit” is a regular project of EUGBC, which aims to further
promote and familiarize European diplomats and Georgian
journalists on the activities of EUGBC member business
companies. Following the presentation of TBC Bank, it was
organized a tour in the Bank’s Operations section. Invited

“JSC Mina” joined EUGBC as Corporate Member
In March, 2015 Joint Stock Company MINA (Ksani Glass Container Factory) joined EUGBC as a Corporate Member.
The factory started functioning in July, 1987, by the name of the Ksani Glass Container Factory. At that time it was
one of the largest and the most modern factories in its field in the former Soviet Union, which had 3 furnaces and
8 production lines. The factory applied Italian technologies. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and during the
unstable situation in Georgia (1991-1995) the infrastructure of the factory experienced significant damage. In
1995 it was named the Joint-Stock Company Mina (with 100% shareholding of the state). In 1997 the control
packet of shares was purchased by the Turkish Industrial Holding Sisecam, being one of the first leading six glass
production companies in the world, the annual sale capacity of which is more than 2 billion dollars, amalgamating
more than 60 subsidiaries and number of employees exceeding 17 thousands.
“PASHA Bank” joined EUGBC as Corporate Member
EUGBC is glad to announce, that “Pasha Bank” joined
EUGBC as a Corporate Member in March, 2015.
PASHA Bank in Georgia was granted a license for bank
activities by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) on
January 17, 2013 and officially opened on February 8,
2013.
As is the case with the Parent Bank, PASHA Bank in Georgia is a full service corporate bank. The Bank’s share
capital is USD 59 million.
As at June 2014the Bank is in the top 10 banks of Georgia by equity and in the top 15 by total assets.
The Bank intends to diversify its customer base across various sectors, with a particular focus on the following:
