The kids from the Nellis and Creech Homeschool
Organization got together for a Valentine’s Day party
here at the family housing Community Center. This
homeschool group meets the 1st Monday of each
month at 1 p.m., and they have a very active Facebook
group page as well.
Ed, from ArtParty4U, teaches Amanda and Kara how
to explore their creativity with an acrylic landscape
class, painting a beautiful snowy scene.
The Let’s Explore Art classes are open to everyone,
and you get to work in watercolors, acrylics and oil
pastels. The March classes are on the 13th and 27th,
from 4:30 until 6 p.m., and are $15/pp.
Wednesday evenings, 6 - 7 p.m.
Your coach will be teaching basic movements such as
squats and lunges as well as power-lifting movements.
This class is for all skill levels ... even beginners!

So many of our residents were very generous with
their time, making valentines to send overseas to our
deployed service members.
Thank you to everyone who brought cards in and who
participated in our card making activity.
Adults and kids alike wanted to get involved and show
their love and support by helping make valentines to
send overseas. Thank you to Jody Shervanick and the
people with the The Douglas J Green Memorial
Foundation for getting these valentines mailed out and
into the deployed members’ hands!
March 16, 2 - 4 p.m.
$5 fee
This month the
Crafting Kids Corner
features supervised
instruction on how to paint and
decorate your very own wooden
animal, as well as some other super
fun projects. Come see what fun you
can create! Ages 5 - 9 years and
parent or guardian must remain in the
building. RSVP, as space is limited.
Pet Pickup
As warmer weather heads our way
and more of our residents head
outdoors, we want to remind our pet
owners that pets must be on leashes
at all times when outside your home
and that you are responsible for
picking up after them. Your neighbors
will appreciate not finding surprises in
the grass when they head out for a
walk. Thanks!
Just a couple of the service members who received the
valentines that we made. It was nice to be able to send
some love all the way to Afghanistan!
The DJGM Foundation is an allvolunteer non-profit 501 (c) (3)
organization dedicated to providing
comfort and support to service
members and their families through
sending thoughtful and useful care
packages during their deployments
and planning exciting and memorable
experiences for service members to
look forward to once they return.

Maintenance Minute
Housing residents
who live in Manch
Manor are allotted
one (1) bag of salt
per month for their
water softener system and are
responsible for picking up this salt on
a monthly basis. Please remember
you MUST check in with the Self Help
office before picking up the salt. Nellis
Family Housing provides salt to their
residents as a courtesy, but if you
miss a month, you will not be given
two (2) bags to “make up” for the
missing month.
All NFH residents may come to the
Self Help Shop and pick up air filters
for their homes on a monthly basis.
Changing out the A/C filters will allow
your system to run more efficiently.
Self Help is located at 5040 Brown
Lane, and the office hours are Mon.
through Fri. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The American Red Cross will be
offering a Babysitter Training course
during Spring Break on Monday,
March 25, and Tuesday, March 26,
from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The cost of class
is $140 but they are offering a 30%
discount when you register for the
course. Contact the Nellis AFB Red
Cross at (702) 652-2106 for
registration information. Students will
need to bring their own sack lunch,
but drinks and snacks will be provided
by Nellis Family Housing.
Once your child has completed this
course, they can be listed on the
family housing Babysitters List and
their information given out to parents
who request it.

Have you just moved in? We
welcome you to the Nellis Family
Housing family and hope your
experience from Move-in to Move-out
will be a positive one for you and your
household.
We hope you found your new
home in good condition, that you are
settled and have transitioned into a
new routine. While our COM team
works very hard to prepare the home
for you, we do know that there are
times that some items will be missed
or just cannot be repaired, i.e.,
scratches on the stainless steel sink,
dents in the tile ... At your move-in,
you received a copy of the Move-In
Inspection Sheet that is required to
be turned back into the Family
Housing office at the Community
Center within 5 days of your move-in.
This notes prior damages to the house
so you will not be held responsible at
your move-out. You need to make
sure the scratches on the counter,
dents in the tile, or oil spots in the
garage, for example, are identified on
the Move-In Inspection Sheet. If we do
not receive it within 5 days, then you
will be responsible for all
undocumented damages at your
move-out.
If you are experiencing a
maintenance problem, please contact
Community Maintenance at
(702) 643-6800 to submit a Work
Order. It is our sincere hope that your
time in Nellis Family Housing is a
wonderful experience from Move-in
to Move-out.
