The Once in a Lifetime Gala is entering its eighth year and has already become one of
Cincinnati’s largest and most unique galas, bringing in more than $318,000 last year. We can’t
thank you enough for helping us to reach our goal. We were hoping that you might be able
to donate another gift certificate to help us meet, and even surpass last year’s funding!
What Makes This Year’s Gala Unique?
The Once in a Lifetime Gala was started in 2007 and has quickly become one of Cincinnati’s
premiere galas with over 800 guests annually at this $150- $250 per ticket event. The event
has been the major contributor to The Cure Starts Now succeeding in funding over $2.6
million in pediatric cancer research.
How do we need your help?
Thanks to this event
we have raised
$2.6 million in pediatric
cancer research funded!
During our event, guests will have the opportunity to bid on various silent auction items. This
is where we need your help. Any gift certificates or items are welcomed. You will be issued
a donation receipt for tax purposes. Every donation provides the ability to fund research and
programs to give afflicted children even more hope for survival from brain cancer. New this
year, guests will be able to pre-shop online which offers additional exposure for your
company and your donation.
In a difficult economy, companies search for ways to set themselves apart from others and
find new ways to reach potential customers inexpensively. The gala is such a wonderful
way to accomplish both, while helping families who are struggling at the same time. I

Where Does the Money Go?
Started in 2007 by residents in Cincinnati, The Cure Starts Now Foundation, a
501(c)(3) non-profit, has revolutionized cancer research worldwide with its focus
on a “homerun cure” for all cancers, starting first with those cancers that experts
believe we can learn the most from. In late 2014, we reached over $2.6 million
dollars in funding which has allowed us to provide funding of new experimental
treatments and research at the top pediatric oncology hospitals including
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Today, our funding initiatives have taken many
forms from the bestselling Graeter’s Ice Cream flavor of Elena’s Blueberry Pie Ice
Cream that sells nationwide, to campaigns at all Gold Star Chili restaurants and
community partnerships with all of the 27 chapters nationwide. The Cure Starts
Now has also been recognized by The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN,
People Magazine, Inside Edition and media worldwide for the inspiration it offers
to all that fight cancer. Elena’s inspiration has touched millions worldwide, cited as
a top search term on Yahoo.com and as the subject of the New York Time
Bestseller “Notes Left Behind,” which benefits the charity.
