Riverlot 56 Natural Area Society – St. Albert, AB
Re-naturalization of Riverlot 56 Agriculturally-distributed Open Fields - Stage 2
Established in 1980, Riverlot 56 Natural Area Society’s mission is to preserve the physical and ecological
diversity of the Riverlot area while promoting nature-oriented educational and recreational activities.
Through their most recent project, the Society will further their efforts of re-naturalization by planting a
variety of native plants.
Bow Valley Habitat Development – Cochrane, AB
Bow Valley Riparian Recovery and Enhancement Program 2015
Bow Valley Habitat Development is a grass roots organization focused on fish and riparian habitat
enhancement projects. Their most recent project will continue their efforts to create a healthy riparian
buffer zone along the stream banks of three tributaries to the Bow River.
Synergy – Chestermere, AB
Altalink Community Garden
Synergy’s mission is to foster youth and community development through collaboration with other local
organizations. Their mission is well-reflected in their most recent community garden project as it will
engage youth and students. The garden project will take place on a unique site, a power line corridor,
where developmental opportunities are limited.
Town of Vermilion Environment Committee – Vermilion, AB
Vermilion Pollinator Garden
Established in 2007, the Town of Vermilion Environment Committee is a volunteer-driven organization
that is committed to building an active community by giving back to nature. For their most recent
project they will construct a pollinator garden in order to raise awareness about the declining bee and
pollinator populations both locally and worldwide.
Parkdale Community Association – Calgary, AB
Parkdale Community Garden and Gathering Space Community Programming Space
Established in 1953, the Parkdale Community Association serves the inner city neighbourhood of
Parkdale through a variety of support services and community programming. This year, funds provided
by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program will enable them to expand their existing community
garden and offer workshops to local residents.
Growing Chefs Society – Vancouver, BC
Growing Chefs! Classroom Gardening and Cooking Program
Growing Chefs Society’s mission is to educate children, families and communities in the Vancouver area
about healthy eating and healthy food systems. One way in which they are accomplishing this is through
their Growing Chefs! Classroom Gardening and Cooking Program. Established in 2006, and expanding
ever since, the program pairs volunteer chefs with elementary school classrooms to grow small indoor
vegetable gardens in order to teach students about where their food comes from, how to grow it
sustainably, and the benefits of eating fresh vegetables. Volunteer chefs also provide the students with
cooking classes, allowing students to experience the entire food cycle, from planting to growing to
harvesting and cooking.
Salt Spring Island Conservancy – Salt Spring Island, BC
Restoration and Stewardship of Wetland and Riparian Habitats in Cusheon Lake Watershed
Established in 1995, Salt Spring Island Conservancy’s mission is to conserve and enhance natural values
on Salt Spring Island and in the surrounding waters. Their most recent project consists of a wetland and
riparian restoration that will included controlling invasive species, planting native species and engaging
students in hands-on restoration activities.
Shuswap Family Resource and Referral Society – Salmon Arm, BC
Helping Hands Community Garden
For over 20 years the Shuswap Family Resource and Referral Society has supported families and
individuals in the Shuswap area through a variety of programs. Their community garden project will
incorporate education and skills development among locals. Furthermore, produce harvested from the
garden will be used for the Society’s community kitchen program.
Still Moon Arts Society – Vancouver, BC
Still Moon Youth Engagement and Stewardship Program
Established in 2004, the Still Moon Arts Society’s missions is to inspire vibrant and connected
communities by nurturing a passion for nature and creating art with community. Their Youth
Engagement and Stewardship Project is a multi-year project that will engage neighbourhood youth in
the analysis, stewardship and restoration of the Renfrew Ravine.
The Sharing Farm Society – Richmond, BC
Eating Wise - Farm to Plate Food literacy for Richmond Families
The Sharing Farm Society was incorporated in 2002, and since its establishment has donated 70% of
produce grown to the Richmond Food Bank and community meals programs across the city. Their
current project will expand on the farm’s success by continuing to grow healthy produce and by
providing nutritional education and culinary skills to local families.
Douglas College Foundation (Institute of Urban Ecology) – New Westminster, BC
UNIBUG Engaging Bugs, Engaging People - Demonstration Garden
Established in 1984, the Douglas College Foundation Institute of Urban Ecology’s (IUE) mandate is to
undertake research, education and outreach activities focused on local issues that affect urban land use.
In keeping with their mandate, the IUE’s UNIBUG Demonstration Garden will serve as an educational
and learning tool to engage students and address local environmental concerns.
Galiano Conservancy Association – Galiano Island, BC
Galiano Community Food Forest - Phase I
Founded in 1989, the Galiano Conservancy Association’s mandate is to preserve, protect and enhance
the quality of the human and natural environment. Phase 1 of the Galiano Community Food Forest will
aim to engage community members and contribute to local food security by planning and creating a
replicable model for low-input, high-yielding alternative agriculture.
Comox Valley Project Watershed – Courtenay, BC
Airpark Lagoon Beach and Saltmarsh Restoration
Established in 1993, the Comox Valley Project Watershed’s mission is to promote community
stewardship of the Comox Valley watershed through education, information and action. Funds provided
by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program will enable the group to restore habitat connectivity
between the Courtenay River, the Airpark Lagoon and the K’omoks Estuary.
Friends of Kootenay Lake – Nelson, BC
Lake Watchers Program
Established in 2012, the Friends of Kootenay Lake engages community members and stakeholder
organizations around the lake as stewards of its water quality and wildlife habitat. The Lake Watchers
Project aims to train volunteers in monitoring water quality and invasive mussel populations in
Koorenay Lake.
Manitoba School Improvement Program Inc. – Winnipeg, MB
The Peaceful Village Garden Initiative
Established in 1991, the Manitoba School Improvement Program Inc. aims to promote educational
equity and social justice by collaborating with public schools to build their capacity to improve student
learning and engagement. The organization is also very active in their community. A great example of
this would be their community garden, run entirely by newcomer Canadians to address food security.
The garden also allows participants to share and learn about gardening practices from around the world.
Manitoba Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization Inc. – Winnipeg, MB
Wildlife Haven Hospital and Education Centre Project
Established in 1984, the Manitoba Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization is a volunteer based non-profit
that receives and cares for injured or orphaned wildlife for release back into the wild. They also strive to
provide a public education component to teach members of the community about wildlife rehab,
conservation and preservation. Having never had a permanent site to call their own, their new Wildlife
Haven Hospital and Education Centre will be a welcome addition and will provide a home for the injured
and orphaned wildlife that they care for as well as a site for educational programming. Funding provided
by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program in 2015 will enable Manitoba Wildlife to plant native
trees and shrubs in order to create a naturalized habitat for their “patients”.
Immigrant Integration Farming Community Co-op – Winnipeg, MB
Rainbow Community Gardens
Created in 2008, the Immigrant Integration Farming Community Co-op’s (IIFC) goal is to make the
transition for immigrant and refugee families more effective and successful to maximize their selfreliance and integration with Canadian society. The IIFC’s community garden serves as a tool to educate
new Canadians on healthy eating practices and allows them to engage with other community members
who have gone through similar experiences. This year, a new addition to the garden will include a rain
water collection system.
Assiniboine Park Conservancy – Winnipeg, MB
Linking Intergenerational Friends of the Environment
Established in 2008, Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s mandate is to develop, govern and manage
Assiniboine Park and it amenities and enhance the park experience for present and future generations.
Their most recent project, Linking Intergenerational Friends of the Environment (LIFE) aims to bridge the
gap between children and seniors by bringing them together through hands-on gardening and nature
education workshops.
Green Eye Co-operative Ltd. – Havelock, NB
Community Learning Gardens
Green Eye Co-operative Ltd. aims to create opportunities for social engagement to encourage healthy
and sustainable lifestyles and communities. As their Community Learning Gardens continue to grow, this
year Green Eye will engage community members in building a cob oven and shelter at the garden site.
Société d'aménagement de la rivière Madawaska et du lac Témiscouata – Edmundston, NB
L'amélioration de la biodiversité des espaces verts de la région du Haut Saint-Jean
Established in 1992, the Société d’aménagement des la rivière Madawaska et du lac Témiscouata aims
to protect and improve both the Témiscouata lake and Madawaska river ecosystems. Their most recent
project will consist of restoration efforts on two sites. Volunteers and community members will
participate in a site clean-up and native tree and shrub planting. Upon completion of the project,
interpretive signage will be installed to explain the significance of restoration efforts to the area.
Jardin communautaire de Shippagan – Shippagan, NB
Agrandissement du jardin actuel
Constructed in 2014, the Jardin communautaire de Shippagan has grown into a space where community
members are able to grow and harvest their own fresh local food. The garden and its associated
activities also promotes physical activity, provides education about healthy eating habits and serves as a
platform to share knowledge. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the garden, many who wanted to
join were turned down due to lack of space. Therefore, this year funds provided by the WalmartEvergreen Green Grants program will help with expanding the garden space to allow for even more
community involvement.
South and Central Health Foundation – Grand Falls – Windsor, NL
Creation of Therapeutic Wander Garden
Established in 1983, the South and Central Health Foundation’s mission is to enhance the health and
well-being of its residents. The organization was created to help the Central West Health Board provide
excellent healthcare programs to the people of South and Central Newfoundland. Through their most
recent project, they will create a Therapeutic Wander Garden on their site to provide a safe, outdoor
environment for seniors to reconnect with nature. The project will be the first of its kind in the province.
Smallwood Era Development Corporation (SEDCOR) – Gambo South – NL
Get Growing Gambo!
SEDCOR’s mission is to create an environment that facilitates sustainable and economic growth in
Gambo. This year, SEDCOR will establish a community garden along with an intergenerational food
security and heritage education project. The project will foster an exchange and collaboration between
seniors and youth in the community. One component of the project includes cooking traditional
Newfoundland meals from the produce that is harvested from the garden.
Community Garden Alliance – St. John’s, NL
Eric Street Park Community Garden
Formed in 2008, the Community Garden Alliance is a volunteer-run organization that looks to connect
community gardens and school gardens in Newfoundland and Labrador. Their current project consists of
installing garden beds for up to 12 families.
Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador – St. John’s, NL
Giant Hogweed Removal and Native Plant Species Enhancement
The Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is dedicated to promoting the development of
individual, lifelong and community-based supports and services for people with autism spectrum
disorder, their families and their caregivers. With funds provided by the Walmart-Evergreen Green
Grants program, the Autism Society will proceed with the removal of Giant Hogweed, an invasive
species in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Removal of the species will allow the Society to
plant a number of native plants, such as native berries, in its place.
Dover Tidy Towns – Dover, NL
Dover Nature Reserve
Founded in 2006, Dover Tidy Towns strives to preserve the cultural heritage of their Newfoundland
community through historical murals, community gatherings and by promoting environmental
stewardship of a local nature reserve. Their most recent project consists of restoring a site that has
sustained hurricane damage through the installation of interpretive signage and planting native trees.
Dartmouth Family Centre – Dartmouth, NS
Dartmouth North Community Food Centre Garden
Since 1996 the Dartmouth Family Centre has provided support to local families living in the underserved
community of Dartmouth North. The centre provides assistance to over 400 families per year in the
form of pre and postnatal services, parenting programs, childcare, nurses and social workers to name a
few. The Dartmouth North Community Food Centre Garden will provide residents with a gathering
space. Centre led workshops facilitated by gardening experts will also give residents the tools and
knowledge to grow their own healthy and affordable food.
Atlantic Coastal Action Program Cape Breton – Sydney, NS
Breathing life into our coasts with Living Shorelines
Established in 1992, the Atlantic Coastal Action Program Cape Breton has grown into a dynamic group
that integrates environmental, social and economic factors into projects focused on action, education
and ecosystem planning. In 2015 ACAP Cape Breton will establish living shorelines along the eastern
coast of the Bras D’or Lakes Biosphere reserve to protect the coastline from erosion.
Hope Blooms – Halifax, NS
Hope Blooms Cultural Community Orchard and Food Gatherings
Hope Bloom’s mission is to empower at-risk youth to be actively engaged in building environments that
directly impact the social determinants of health in their communities. Their community garden site was
established in 2007 and their most recent project will enhance the space between the garden and the
street with the installation of a natural, edible walkway.
Sackville Rivers Association – Lower Sackville, NS
River Restoration 2015
Established in 1988, the Sackville Rivers Association’s mandate is to protect and restore the Sackville
River watershed, provide educational programs to encourage stewardship and awareness and provide
advice and support to other watershed groups. In 2015 they aim to install habitat restoration structures
at approximately 25 sites along Thompson Run.
Designated Gwich'in Organisation (Tetlit Gwich'in Council) – Fort McPherson, NT
Tetlit Zheh Community Food and Cultural Garden
The Designated Gwich’in Organisation provides economic, social, educational and cultural programs to
retain the traditional and cultural values, customs and language of the Gwich’in. Their project, the Tetlit
Zheh Community Food and Cultural Garden, provides community members with healthy, local and
affordable produce. This year, they plan to expand their existing garden in order to reach even more
community members.
Kitikmeot Heritage Society – Cambridge Bay, NU
The Perry River Project
Established in 1995, the Kitikmeot Heritage Society’s mandate is to document and preserve Inuinnait
language, culture and heritage. Their Perry River Project carries out the goals of this mandate by
reconnecting Inuit Residential School survivors to the landscapes of their ancestors through a week-long
day camp that raises cultural, historical and environmental awareness.
The Scott Mission – Toronto, ON
O'Connor Family Centre Community Garden - Phase 2 (Deeper Impact)
Established in 1941, the Scott Mission offers support and provisions for the poor and needy of Toronto.
Some examples of programs offered include: meals, summer camps, shelters, and many more. The
O’Connor Family Centre Community Garden has become a means to offer fresh, local produce to the
community and the Scott Mission’s goal for phase 2 of the garden is to deepen their impact through
accessibility, engagement and capacity-building.
Centre for Immigrant and Community Services – Toronto, ON
CICS Community Garden
The Centre for Immigrant and Community Services’ (CICS) mission is to empower newcomers in settling
and integrating as contributing members of Canadian society through diverse, professional and
innovative services. Created in 2012, the CICS Community Garden has become a hub where residents
can grow their own produce. The garden aims to provide awareness of Canadian environmental issues,
prevent social isolation among immigrants and combat food insecurity. Having recently partnered with a
local mental health organization, in 2015 CICS plans to expand both their garden and their programming
to include those benefiting from this organization.
Hamilton Sustainable Victory Gardens Inc. – Hamilton, ON
Expansion of two existing Hamilton Victory Garden sites
Established in 2011, the Hamilton Sustainable Victory Garden’s mission is to transform the city of
Hamilton by increasing access to healthy food for the marginalized populations in the community,
encourage volunteerism, and bring people of all ages together for the common purpose of combatting
poverty. Their goal for 2015 is to expand a number of existing garden sites and construct two additional
sites in order to donate even more produce to the local food bank.
Environment Hamilton – Hamilton, ON
Creating Pollinator Paradises in Hamilton
Incorporated in 2001, Environment Hamilton strives to inspire community members to protect and
enhance their local environment through leadership, education and advocacy. Over the past thirteen
years, they have led several successful projects, such as the Good Food Box, which have resulted in
meaningful partnerships with other local organizations. For their most recent project Environment
Hamilton will partner with both the Hamilton Sustainable Victory Gardens and the North Hamilton
Community Health Centre to create a pollinator paradise. They will create pollinator habitats at eight
sites throughout the city and will assist community members in establishing their own pollinator
gardens in their backyards.
Harbourfront Community Centre – Toronto, ON
HCC Community Connect Food Gardens
Established in 1991, the Harbourfront Community Centre’s (HCC) mission is to meet the needs of a
diverse and changing multi-cultural community, respond to the needs of at-risk populations and provide
a range of responsive programs and services. In 2015, the HCC’s goal with their Community Connect
Food Gardens is to actively engage approximately 400 community members through workshops and
participation in the gardens.
Dallington Pollinators Community Garden – Toronto, ON
Rainwater Harvesting for Sustainable Urban Agriculture
Constructed in 2013, the Dallington Pollinators Community Garden aims to serve and engage the entire
community of Ward 33 in Toronto. As such, the garden also serves as an important tool for local schools
to teach their students about gardening, food security and stewardship. In 2015, the Dallington
Pollinators will expand on their current garden site and will create a demonstration garden complete
with rainwater harvesting system and canopy shade structure.
Friends of the Greenline – Toronto, ON
Friends of the Green Line Community Festival Series
The Friends of the Greenline is a volunteer group of residents and engaged Torontonians whose goal is
to animate a new connected linear park in mid-town Toronto. The park will transform an underutilized
hydro corridor into an accessible space that revitalizes the communities surrounding it. Their project, a
Community Festival Series, will bring local residents, volunteers and community organizations together
through a series of community building events and activities.
North Hamilton Community Health Centre – Hamilton, ON
Children’s Grub Club
The North Hamilton Community Health Centre opened its doors in 1987 and has since strived to offer
programs and services that reflect the diverse health needs of its community members. In an
underserved area of Hamilton, the Children’s Grub Club was a welcome addition. The Grub Club
combines cooking, gardening and physical activity into a weekly program that runs from May through
September. Funding provided by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program in 2015 will help
expand on the program’s success.
Earth Day Hamilton-Burlington – Hamilton, ON
Community Tree Planting Festival
Earth Day Hamilton-Burlington aims to foster a commitment to environmental stewardship in the local
community through tree planting and stewardship events aimed at connecting adults and children to
nature. This year, with funds provided by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program, they will
undertake a Community Tree Planting Festival along a wetland to remove invasive species and replace
them with natives.
Rare Charitable Research Reserve – Cambridge, ON
Springbank Gardens Irrigation Intsallation
Founded in 2001, the rare Charitable Research Reserve’s mission is to create a self-sustaining model of
preservation, conservation and enhancement techniques that stimulate general awareness of natural
heritage. Over the years, Rare has also constructed a community garden, and this year will aim to install
an irrigation system to help with watering.
Preston Heights Community Group – Cambridge, ON
Watertower Gardens
Preston Heights Community Group provides programs and services to children, youth and adults to
support positive development in the community. Their most recent project will be a community garden,
dubbed Watertower gardens, and will serve as a gathering space for community members.
Naadmaagit Ki Group – Toronto, ON
New Mound Builders
NKG focuses on restorative use of urban lands based on indigenous principles, knowledge and practice.
Their most recent project will consist of indigenous, cultural teaching, planting and harvesting through
Hotinonshonni mound agriculture.
Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve Inc. – Parry Sound, ON
Booth Street Community Garden Project
The Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve’s mandate is to facilitate cooperative action in support of the
conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development through education and public outreach. Their
project, the Boot Street Community Garden, will add another garden site to the area to alleviate wait-
lists at other community gardens. The Reserve will also provide residents will the tools and knowledge
needed to grow their own produce.
Birchmount Community Action Council – Scarborough, ON
Growing Together
In partnership with the Youth Action Network and the Toronto Community Housing Corporation, the
Birchmount Community Action Council strives to promote the healthy development of residents to
ensure safe and healthy interactions between youth, their families, and their environment. In 2015, they
will plant 120 edible trees and shrubs for the beginning stages of their “Get Growing” Food Security
Initiative.
Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association – Manitowaning, ON
Kagawong Stream Restoration Project
Established in 2001, the Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association is a grass roots organization
focusing on large-scale, community based efforts to restore aquatic ecosystems on Manitoulin Island. As
part of their Kagawong Stream Restoration Project, community volunteers will plant a number of native
trees and shrubs in order to restore and stabilize 600m2 of shoreline.
Destination North Discovery Group – Sault Ste. Marie, ON
Destination North Discovery Camps - Summer Programming for Youth
Destination North is designed as a place for visitors to learn about, engage and connect with the local
environment. This summer, as part of their programming, they will be offering the Destination North
Discovery Camps to children and youth of the region.
Winter River-Tracadie Bay Watershed Association – Dunstaffnage, PE
Acadian forest tree planting in watershed area parks
Established in 2008, the Winter River-Tracadie Bay Watershed Association strives to protect and
enhance the health and aesthetic of the Winter River-Tracadie Bay Watershed. This summer they will be
hosting two community tree planting events with community volunteers to help restore and raise
awareness about Acadian forest tree species.
Friends of Covehead-Brackley Bay – York, PE
Plant the Park
Established in 2001, the Friends of Covehead-Brackley Bay annually maintain, protect, restore and
enhance over 60km of stream in five rivers that empty into two bays of the Covehead-Brackley
watershed. Their Plant the Park project began in 2012 and engages community members in become
stewards of their watershed. This year they will plant a number of Acadian forest species and install
interpretive and educational signage in the area.
Prince Edward Island Farm Centre Association – Charlottetown, PE
Farm Centre Legacy Garden
Established in 1975, the PEI Farm Centre Association’s mission is to promote and encourage a better
understanding and exchange of views between agricultural, urban and industrial groups and
organizations. Their Community Garden and Legacy Garden are both thriving and this year they will
install hedgerows and additional themed gardens.
Amis des Jardins de Métis – Grand-Métis, QC
Bee Berms
Les Amis des Jardins de Métis are responsible for managing Les Jardins de Métis, a national historic site
located at the gateway to the Gaspé Penninsula. Les Amis also strives to conserve and protect natural
habitats and fragile ecosystems along the St. Lawrence and Mitis Rivers. This year, their goal is to involve
community members in the creation of a number of Bee Berms planted with native plants that will
attract and sustain bees.
YMCA du Québec Centre Pointe-Saint-Charles – Montréal, QC
Phase I du project de Corridor vivant du Sud-Ouest
The Québec YMCA’s mission is to contribute to the well-being of families and communities in the
province of Québec. Éco-quartier is a program managed by the YMCA Pointe-Saint-Charles and their
mandate is to promote community greening, planting events, and urban agriculture while improving the
lives of low-income communities in the Southwest of Montréal. Phase one of their living corridors
project will provide residents with green pathways linking various community gathering spots (e.g.
parks, heritage sites, etc.). These living corridors will provide residents with a secure passage, promote
physical activity and connect nearby residents to nature.
Les amis de la montagne – Montréal, QC
Agir pour la biodiversité du Mont-Royal: contrôle du nerprun et de l'érable de Norvège dans le bois
d'Outremont
Les amis de la montagne’s mission is to conserve and protect Mont Royal through community
engagement and environmental education initiatives. This year they will complete the final phase of a
restoration and invasive species control project in the Outremont forest.
Bouffe-Action de Rosemont – Montréal, QC
Jardins collectifs de Bouffe-Action de Rosemont
Established in 1991, Bouffe-Action’s mission is to improve the access of Rosemont residents to healthy
and local food. Their community garden project has been thriving for 14 years and funding provided by
the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program will enable Bouffe-Action to continue to expand their
ever-growing gardens and offer programming to community members.
Pro-Vert Sud-Ouest – Montréal, QC
Le Canal Lachine prend son envol
Pro-Vert’s mission is to promote the health of residents and of the environment in Southwest Montréal
through social action and engagement. Their project, Le canal Lachine prend son envol, aims to raise
awareness about the environmental issues present on the Canal-de-lachine National Historic Site. This
year, Pro-Vert will remove invasive species in the area, plant native trees and install a community
garden.
EURÊKO! – Chicoutimi, QC
Une forêt qui nourrit et éduque
Established in 1980, EURÊKO! is a non-profit community organization dedicated to promoting
environmental action and protection while engaging the community. For their most recent project,
EURÊKO! will plant a food forest that will both benefit the environment and serve as a source of food for
the community.
Battlefords Family Health Centre – North Battleford, SK
Battlefords Family Health Centre's Community Garden Project
The Battlefords Family Health Centre first opened its doors in 2000 and has since strived to coordinate
and integrate existing services from a variety of agencies to provide holistic, accessible health care to
Battle River Treaty Six community members. Their Community Garden project will help address food
security and will give community members the tools and knowledge required to maintain their own
garden plots.
Hunger in Moose Jaw Inc. – Moose Jaw, SK
"Growing Kids Growing Food" and "The Power of Pollination"
Hunger in Moose Jaw Inc. is dedicated to nurturing children and their families through a variety of
programs. Funding provided by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program in 2015 will help support
both the Growing Kids Growing Food Program and the Power of Pollination Program.

NatureCity Festival
Wild About Saskatoon is a volunteer run group formed in 2012. Their NatureCity Festival first took place
the following year and as a result of its success, has been continued for three years in a row. This year,
funding provided by the Walmart-Evergreen Green Grants program will support the various nature
themed events of the Festival, such as nature tours, planting events and art installations.

Container Gardening & Fruit Tree Initiative
The Prince Albert & Area Food Coalition’s vision is one where “every community member has the basic
right to a secure, affordable and nutritious food supply, which is produced in an environmentally
sustainable manner.” Their Container Gardening & Fruit Tree Initiative will strive to bring gardening and
local food to community members in the Prince Albert area.
