Meet with mcc executive
leadership team
7pm (North Lobby)
June 23, July 28, August 25
Because we believe God listens to, cares about,
and responds to the prayers of those who know
Him, we regard prayer as a vital part of our
relationship with Him. We want to be people who
are in constant communication with Him as we
go through our day, to class, to work, or out with
friends. And through prayer, this act of
authentically relating to God, we benefit,
whether it be through reducing stress, elevating
a depressed mood or by filling our minds and
souls with the love and presence of God. If you
would like to pray with MCC’s Executive
Leadership Team or you have questions you
would like to ask them, please join them on the
designated dates.
>Pursue>
A few weeks ago, we saw a student baptize his
friend and then that friend baptize his mom.
Because of that, two weeks later, a woman was
motivated to make a decision to follow Jesus. It’s
stories like this that are at the heart of our threeyear plan, PURSUE.
PURSUE is a three-year strategic plan created
last February. Twenty-seven MCC leaders were
guided through a process and prayerfully
considered our next steps as a church. We
considered questions like:
• What is right at MCC?
• What is wrong at MCC?
• What is missing at MCC?
The overall goal was to determine the path that
would move us forward and together further
equip us to accomplish our purpose of “helping
people begin and build their relationship with
Jesus”.
When the process and exercises were
completed, we identified three areas that needed
work — pursuing people (begin), pursuing Jesus
(build) and pursuing leadership (putting people in
place to help lead the process).
PURSUING PEOPLE: Jesus was all about
pursuing people. Because of this, we will make
sure our doors are open to all people, no matter
where they’ve come from or what they’ve been
through. We’ll also go anywhere to meet people
with the message of the Gospel. We will be
intentional about praying for our friends and
family members. We will continue to be involved
in loving and serving people in our community.
You’ll start to hear more stories too — stories
about the journeys and struggles of people. And
5
Pursue/Church Life
these stories will remind us that Jesus was
relentless in pursing people and we should be as
well.
PURSUING JESUS: Jesus said to his first
disciples, “Follow me.” He offers the same
invitation to us today. A disciple is someone who
follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus and is
committed to the mission of Jesus. We'll
encourage everyone at MCC to identify their next
step and take it. We’ll work hard to unveil a clear,
easy-to-understand path to discipleship and
continue to develop groups by recruiting,
equipping and releasing leaders.
PURSUING LEADERSHIP: Jesus turned a
group of bad fishermen and tax collectors into
revolutionaries that changed the course of
human history. The church is still the place
where the best leaders come from, servant
leaders interested in lifting others up. We’re
committed to developing Christ-like leaders, not
just for the church but also for the community.
Whether you're leading a little league team, a
committee at the office or a study group, we want
to help you lead like Jesus. We’ll be intentional
about identifying, recruiting and multiplying
leaders at MCC.
We can’t wait to hear and share stories that will
come out of PURSUE. We can’t wait to see what
Jesus does in and through us, as we take steps
toward Him. You see, that’s really what PURSUE
is about. It’s about identifying our next steps and
pursuing the things God is calling us to do. So,
what’s your next step?
“I have come down from heaven not to
pursue My own agenda but to do
what He desires.” - Jesus

Church
Life
Sunday morning
Worship
Sunday; 9:15am, 9:30am, 11am
On any given Sunday, you’ll find a gathering at
9:15am (Classic Service) that features favorite
hymns and familiar choruses. At 9:30am and
again at 11am (Contemporary Services), we
gather and celebrate with contemporary music of
today similar to what you hear on Air1 or other
Christian radio.
Communion
During our services every week, we take time to
remember and celebrate the death and
resurrection of Christ through communion.
Teachings
Sunday morning teachings are available on our
website at exploremcc.org. If you prefer a CD of
a specific teaching, stop by our Info Desk (in the
lobby) to request a copy.
Church Life
Prayer
Life can be overwhelming, confusing and even
scary. But no matter what you’re facing today,
you aren’t alone. You have a sovereign God who
loves you - a sovereign God who just happens to
be Creator of the universe but also your
heavenly Father who is our strength and
salvation. And you have this community, your
MCC family who will stand boldly with you,
holding your arms and lifting you up in prayer.
So what do you fear? What is making you
anxious, worried, scared? What challenge - or
what opportunity - has your knees ready to
buckle? Can we pray with or for you? We would
be honored to. You can share your prayer
concern in a couple of ways. Join one of our
team members after each worship service (in the
back corner of our Worship Center or front pews
in the Sanctuary) to connect and pray. Or simply
submit your concern through email
([email protected]) or our website
(exploremcc.org/prayer-request/).
Next Steps
If you’re new to faith, just checking it out, or
coming back to church after some time away, we
offer a variety of ways to connect as you begin
and build your relationship with Christ. Perhaps
your next step is participating in a study, serving
at Threads or going on a mission trip in 2015. No
matter where you’ve been, we’re glad you’re
here. And, we would love to help you identify
your next step. For help with your next step
contact [email protected].

>Get Connected
June 20, August 15
Wondering what your next step is in your walk
with God, faith, or church? We invite you to join
us in our Get Connected conversations. The
conversations are an initial next step and
designed for you to experience a warm and
friendly environment where no question is a bad
question. Discover what the Bible says about life,
God's plan, and your part in the bigger picture.

Baptism
Scripture tells us that baptism is our way of
showing God that our heart is ready to serve Him
(1 Peter 3:21). When we choose to surrender our
lives to God and find freedom through Christ,
baptism is an identifiable next step. In Acts 2:38,
we are promised that through baptism, our sins
will be forgiven and we will receive the Holy
Spirit. At MCC, we follow the example of Jesus
and his apostles and baptize through immersion.
If you have questions about taking this next step,
contact [email protected].
Giving
Tithes and Offerings
All Ministry at MCC is funded by God’s great
design. He calls His people to bring a tithe (a
tenth of earnings) back to the storehouse. These
gifts are the resources that fund the ministry that
works to model Jesus to our community and
beyond. We believe that giving is a next step that
gives God the opportunity to do what He says He
will do.
Here are several ways to give at MCC.
Sunday Services offer an easy option. Place gift
in the offering trays as they are passed.
Text the amount of your gift to (937) 688-2323
and you will receive a reply with a one time
registration link. Click to submit. Simply text the
amount for future giving.
Online Giving at our website. Under “give” click
“giving at MCC” and follow the link. One time
gifts or schedule regular gifts. (Nearly 25% of
giving is online at MCC.)

MOVE: We want kids to move it from here to
there, from bored to passionate, from selfish to
giving, from unfocused to wide awake.
During MOVE, kids will hear about people in the
Bible who changed direction and moved. And
they all had one thing in common: Somewhere
along the way, they came face to face with
Jesus. They discovered who He was. And once
that happened, there was no standing still or
going back! God moved toward us first. Now it’s
our turn to MOVE!

and offer practical next steps for each student.
CRAVE (Middle School; Grades 5-8)

learn about the life Jesus has for middle school
students.
SECOND STORY (High School;
Grades 9-12)
Sundays 6pm; Doors open at 5:45pm
Second Story is a place to laugh, relax, wonder,

Group Life
Stay Connected
It’s easy to just attend church with hundreds of
people and still remain a stranger. But that’s not
what the church was designed to be. It’s about
building a lasting relationship with Christ, with
other believers and serving together. We believe
that connection happens best through group
experiences. Whether it’s conversations over
coffee, studying the Word together around the
fireplace or diving into deep topics while serving
together, we believe our best shot at spiritual
growth happens in the context of sharing our
lives together. Throughout Scripture, we see God
continually challenge us to reorient our “me-first”
mindset. This very challenge is the catalyst for
MCC’s group model.
One of the greatest hopes is by focusing on our
relationships and serving others, we will further
develop our relationship with God and
experience His presence in our daily lives. We
believe this time-tested approach to discipleship
can lead us all closer to a personal knowledge
and intimacy with the God who desperately longs
for a relationship with us. There are a wide
variety of groups available at MCC—groups that
meet in homes and at various days and times.
For more information on MCC group life, contact
[email protected].
This summer is going to be full of incredible
experiences for students. We would love to list
them here in full detail, but the catalog would
need multiple volumes. Instead, reduce clutter
and make sure you are in on all of our digital
communications. Don’t miss out on any details
for things like outdoor movie nights, Dragons
games, laser tag, giant food fights, and more.

Parent Meetings First Sunday of the month after 11am service

equipped with information on upcoming events
and weekly programming. It’s also a great time to
ask any questions you may have. Parent
meetings are held in the Student Worship Room

Summer Book Study
Thursday; Biweekly; 6:30pm (Room 231)
June 25-August 20; 5 sessions
The Breathe summer book study includes five
biweekly sessions of teaching by Priscilla Shirer.
One of the greatest challenges among women in
our culture is taking time to stop and cease from
all the activities and busyness and just breathe.
We are in bondage to busyness, constantly
striving to complete the limitless to-do lists that
hinder us from experiencing all that God has for
us. We miss the moments because we rush
ahead to the next thing. By neglecting time for
tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our
Christlikeness and miss out on some of God’s
greatest gifts. It is time for us to breathe and
build margin into our lives for God. In this
summer study, learn how God instituted
principles and laws that transformed the
Israelites’ mindset. He didn’t just want them
legally free; He wanted them to be able to walk in
the freedom and enjoy it. So God gave them
many gifts, including boundaries in which to
enjoy those gifts. Sabbath was intended as a gift,
and it is still a gift to us today. If you are weary,
worn out, and exhausted the concept of Sabbath
will change your life.

Threads Clothing Ministry
Threads
Clothing
Ministry
33 E. Lawrence Avenue
“Thank you for NOT making me feel humiliated,”
was the heart-wrenching sentence uttered by a
man visiting Threads. The soft-spoken, slightly
built, physically handicapped man
received two pairs of shorts and six shirts, which
“tripled his wardrobe,” said the Threads volunteer
that was with him. His scraggly beard contrasted
with his button-down shirt tucked neatly into his
jeans. He slowly and painfully made his way to
the door, stopping to shake my hand to say thank
you. In him, I saw a glimpse of Jesus and I sure
hope he saw something similar reflected in me.
Love others deeply. Honor others more than
yourself.
Romans 12:10
Sometimes, God moves in big ways, with an epic
parting of the seas and manna falling from the
skies and in the miracle of a virgin birth.
Sometimes, God is found in the quiet moments
before dawn or twinkling down from the stars at
night. And sometimes, God is found in the very
simple interaction between two of His creations,
when one of His children reaches out to another
with a loving heart and a kind word. One of our
greatest privileges at Threads, is reaching out to
others, to clothe them, to listen to them, to invite
them back and to sometimes pray with them. It is
a joy to offer love and help to people and all in
the name of Jesus.
As a church, we are committed to being the
hands and feet of Jesus by serving those in need
in our community and around the world. Threads
serves nearly 200 families a month. Threads
partners with local and neighboring communities
to provide gently used clothes, hats, gloves,
coats and household items to assist those in
need. Sort and organize donations: Monday /
Wednesday mornings 9am-12pm and
Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30pm (Some lifting
required.)
Shopping time: Wednesday nights 6-8:30pm,
Friday mornings 10-11:30am, 1st & 3rd Sunday of
the month 10-10:45am (Some lifting required.)
Pick up donations: Weekly (flexible times)
(Van, truck or SUV recommended.)
We are currently in need of volunteers to assist
with clients the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month.
Our seasonal clothing switch out for spring and
summer is coming soon and extra help will be
needed. Note that a good amount of lifting is
involved. Watch for more details.
We also need another driver who would be
willing to pick up weekly donations from two local
clothing stores that support our ministry. (A truck
or SUV is needed.)
Take your next step and get involved by
contacting Threads ([email protected])
for details on donations or serving opportunities.

2015 mission trips
Going has never been a problem for MCC. We
continue to respond to Jesus’ call to “go into all
the world.” In His name, we’ve helped build
dozens of homes and churches, provide safe
places for kids to grow up, get an education and
learn about the God that created them. Hundreds
of sick people have received medical treatment
in impoverished countries. Victims of natural
disasters have been comforted and helped back
to their feet because we’ve worked together to
be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Help send an MCC team member by visiting
exploremcc.org. Use the “Serve” pull down tab
and select “Support 2015 Mission Trips”. Pick a
trip and team member to make your donation.
Your partnership will help change the world one
life at a time.
MONTERREY, MEXICO
July 18-24 (Student Ministry)
the future of each child we serve. By helping
meet their physical, spiritual, emotional,
educational and social needs, these children can
become self-sustaining individuals who give back
to their community. Please note that space is
limited on this trip.
Here are a couple of ways to get involved:
• Pray for our Monterrey Mission Team. This is a
fairly new destination for MCC and we want to
make a great impression.
• Gather supplies! A supply list will be published
as the trip gets closer.
• Support the team and mission by making a
donation. Contact [email protected] for
information or details on donations.
BRAZIL
October 12-23
Our team will travel the Amazon on a boat
designed to provide medical care to the villages
along the Amazon River. With stops at
designated villages, our team will work to meet
the healthcare needs of everyone they
encounter. We will also be assisting with the
ministry of local churches. Team members may
also work on a construction project. And, of
course, reaching out to people through worship
services and celebrations are always a part of
the trip.
Here are a few ways to get involved:
• Join the team! You don’t have to have medical
training to help.
• Pray daily for the success of the mission or
sign up to be a prayer partner for one of the
team members.
• Support the team and mission by making a
donation. Contact [email protected] for
information or details on donations.
This team will work with Back2Back staff
members who are stationed at the Monterrey
ministry location. Our labor is an investment in
