Welcome
to the Bay School’s 30th annual Winter Faire!
Once again, we’ve come together - as parents, students, faculty and friends
from around the peninsula and beyond - to create a joyous start to the Holiday
season. We invite you to make your way around the campus, as our classrooms
and studios have been transformed into a village of cafés, markets and concert
halls for the day.
The Upper Level of Emlen Hall is host to 19 of Maine’s finest artists and
craftspeople. You’re sure to find the perfect unique handcrafted item for your
holiday shopping list. Don’t forget to treat yourself to a little something!
The Lower Level of Emlen Hall is home once again to our Silent Auction
and School Store. Businesses, parents and friends from our community have
generously donated services, gift cards and many other creative gift items for
your bidding pleasure. Also downstairs, The Bay School Store will again have
a wide selection of beautiful art supplies, books, advent calendars and student
handworks. You can also buy tickets for the Pocket Lady at the School Store.
Children enjoy finding the Pocket Lady anywhere she may be and choosing a
wrapped mystery gift.
North Cottage, our early childhood classroom, is home to the hugely popular
Puppet show- now with two show times at noon and at 1pm. The Parent & Child
Craft Workshop for children under 5 is also in North Cottage from 10-11:30am.
Older children can enjoy the free Holiday Craft Workshop in the kindergarten
classroom and the Ice Fishing Game next door. Make a memory of the day at the
8th grade photo booth in the math building.
Throughout the day and around the campus you’ll find delicious, homemade
nibbles. The Patisserie in the entrance to Emlen Hall offers a sweet feast for the
eyes and palate. At the Forge, it’s Dads’ Dogs & Donuts. Stop by for coffee, hot
cider, hot cocoa, locally-made donuts, as well as hot dogs and Bianco sausages
grilled outside! In the Rousseau building you’ll find a Farmers Market featuring
homemade and homegrown goods, and two Café rooms serving hot soup,
chowder, pasta and sandwiches.
Many musical acts will be performing all day, both on the Emlen Hall stage and
in the Rousseau Building. Whether you prefer classical, jazz, folk, or jug band,
there is a tune for you at Winter Faire!
Visit the campfire in the center of campus to catch up with friends and
neighbors, and watch (or join) the traditional game of Capture the Flag on the
field beginning at 1pm. Two great ways to warm the body and soul!
Thank you for helping us celebrate this wonderful time of year.

Traditions come in all shapes and sizes; one of the Bay School’s is
round and orange. The Winter Faire’s Annual Citrus Sale
has been around for years, bringing a truckload of delicious fruit
shipped directly to us from Florida just in time for Faire Day.
Hundreds of boxes of fruit!
The Citrus Sale is truly a team effort. Led by parents Carrol Lange
and Pat Lown, the school community reaches out to family and
friends, pre-selling most of the fruit in November. Our friends at
Maine Shellfish in Ellsworth receive the order for us and drive
everything over in one of their nifty refrigerated trucks. Once in
Blue Hill, the Citrus Sale sets up camp at TradeWinds Market
Place and distributes the fruit from there. Parent and student
volunteers help man the truck, no matter what the weather may
bring, for hours on Faire day.
Thank you to all those who have supported
the Bay School Citrus Sale by purchasing fruit this year!
