To all who donated to, cooked for, worked and
or ate at the Homemade Soup Lunch
fundraiser this year! We made $577.00 in
profit from the lunch and $149.00 from the
silent Auction.

ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL NIGHT PROGRAM AT
6:00 P.M. AT THE EXTENSION OFFICE BACK
MEETING ROOM. The International program
will be about International Adoption from
Haiti – Join us to hear from Ashley Reece
Bailey about her experience in traveling to
and adopting a child from Haiti.
This will be a POTLUCK Salad Supper event.
The Metcalfe County Homemakers Council will
provide several different types of crackers and
drinks to go along with the salads brought by
participants.
The Metcalfe County
Extension Homemakers Association’s annual
Homemade Quilt Raffle, to raise funds for the
University of Kentucky Extension Homemakers
Ovarian Cancer Research and Screening
project has come to a close. Mrs. Cindy
Johnson of Edmonton was drawn as the winner
of the quilt. The quilt that was raffled was
made by the late Mrs. Jewell Williamson,
Mother to Mr. Roger Williamson and was
donated to the Metcalfe County Extension
Homemakers Association for the raffle, by Mrs.
Linda Williamson.
The Metcalfe Historical Society
is holding a garden plant sale party at the
Historic Jailhouse off the square in Edmonton
on Saturday May 11th. There will be garden
start plants for sale, singings, and other
activities. They would like for Homemakers to
donate baked goods for the Historical Society
FLORAL HALL ADULT DIVISION
Metcalfe County Fair Floral Hall Guidelines
Friday June 7th, 2013:
1. All entries will be accepted from 8:00
a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the large meeting
room, side door entrance, at the County
Extension office, 422 East Street,
Edmonton.
to sell at the event. All proceeds will be put
towards the ongoing restoration of the historic
jailhouse building. Baked goods can be
dropped off between 8 – 8:30 a.m. on the day
of the sale. Please call Diane Stayte with
questions at: 432-5237.
2. Judging will begin at 11:00 a.m. Exhibit
will be open to the public for viewing on
Friday afternoon, 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Metcalfe County 4 – H Girl
Scout, Madison Gray is working toward her
Silver Award. The Silver Award is the second
highest award you can receive in Girl Scouts.
She must complete a project that will benefit
the community or some organization or person.
The project she chose is to collect items for
waiting room fun bags for children at St. Jude's
Hospital.
4. Exhibits must be removed from the
building between 3:00 and 4:30 p.m. on
June 7th. Fair officials are not responsible
for items lost, damaged or not picked up by
5:00 p.m. on June 7th.
5. All Food Entries must be inserted into
clear plastic bags. Garden items must be
displayed on white disposable plates.
Items accepted are coloring books, crayons,
drawing pads, coloring pencils, reading books,
book markers, word search books, flash cards,
work books, journals, pens, nail files,
etc...Anything that can be done quietly in a
waiting room. St Jude also gives knitting
lessons to patient's and family, If you would
like to donate yarn and/or knitting needles
sizes 8, 9, or 10 in 13" length.
6. Exhibits are limited to one item per
person per class, FREE of charge.
Example: One entry per person in Best
Needlepoint – one person cannot enter two
items under Best Needlepoint)
7. An exhibitor may make entries in as
many different classes as desired.
All items must be new. The Metcalfe County
Chamber is the collection point for anyone or
any organization that would like to donate
items or make a monetary donation, deadline is
April 10th. If you have any questions, please

8. Items exhibited should have been
completed within the previous two years
(with the exception of Antiques) and/or not
have been awarded places 1st - 3rd, in prior
fair floral halls.
**Please find enclosed the class
information for the 2013 Floral Hall,
which is Friday June 7th this year. Also
included is the KEHA cultural arts
category information for your use as
well. Please consider entering your
work into the fair floral Hall, it is free to
enter items and you have a chance to
win a small premium if your item gets
first or second place in its class.
9. If there is only one entry in a class - that
item will be judged on merit and given the
earned ribbon with premium.
10. Exhibits must be the work of the
exhibitor with exception for antique
category entries
11. All floral hall exhibits, adult and youth
are open only to Metcalfe County residents.

12. A best of class champion ribbon is
awarded in each division: Foods, Food
Preservation, Flowers and Plants, Garden,
Handicrafts, Photography and Quilts. An
overall grand champion item is selected
from the class winners, for a special award.
