Purchase homemade desserts and delicious soups made by Service League members in time for
the busy holiday season. In addition, rooms of the house will feature specialty and handmade items.

2010 Kitchens & More Tour featured homes and the Service League House
may be visited and/or revisited in any order. Three feature homes (#1-#3) are
near downtown Hickory and three others (#4 – 6) are in Northwest Hickory.
Additional $25 event tickets may be purchased at any tour location (listed
below) on Saturday, 11/20/10. Tickets are not required for visiting #1 the
Service League House in Hickory.
Note: Signs and directional arrows will be available along the entire tour route for your assistance on tour day.
Downtown Hickory
#1 Service League of Hickory, 506
3rd Avenue NW
Going north on 2nd St. NE/NC 127, turn left @ SALT
BLOCK onto 3rd Avenue NW (one way street). Proceed through 4 stoplights; one block past 4th stoplight (@ corner of 5th St. NW) is the Service League
House. Parking is available along 5th St. NW (or
behind house).

#2 Jack and Carleen Crawford, 321

Leaving the League House, follow 5th Street NW
(away from downtown) to 4th Avenue NW. Turn right
onto 4th Avenue NW. After traffic signal, home is
located on the right (next to Oakwood Elementary
School and across from the Oakwood Cemetery).
#3 Julia Rush, 216 Union Square
From the Crawford Home continue on 4th Ave. NW
and turn right onto 3rd Street NW (towards downtown). Proceed through three traffic signals and turn
left into downtown public parking (Union Square).
Park anywhere and enter loft/home above former
Julia Rush Store (look for green Julia Rush sign).
Northwest Hickory
#4 Rob & Angela Simmons
From Union Square parking, turn left onto 2nd Street
NW. At second traffic signal, turn right onto 2nd Avenue NW. Proceed to second traffic signal and turn
left onto 2nd St. NE/NC 127 and head north towards
Lake Hickory/Viewmont~3.4 miles. Turn right onto
38th Ave. NW (traffic light) and park at Jenkins
Elementary School. Shuttle service will be provided
to/from this home. #5 Charles and Loretta Ivey, 4240
4th Street Lane NW
After leaving Jenkins Elementary School
parking lot turn right onto N. Center St./NC 127.
Immediately, turn left onto 39th Ave. Dr. NW and
proceed ~.5 mile. Just past the end of brick wall on
right is entrance to Moore’s Ferry. At this corner, do
not veer left, but stay straight onto 4th St. Ct. NW
(look for Dead End sign). Immediately turn left at 4th
St. Ln. NW and proceed ~.4 mile. Home and Lake
Hickory are on right.
#6 Lou and Julia Wetmore, 4152
1st Street Place NW
From Ivey home return to 4th St. Ct. NW and turn
right. At stop sign immediately turn left into Moore’s
Ferry/gate house onto 3rd St. NW and proceed
straight ~.3 mi. Turn right onto 42nd Av. Dr. NW. In
two blocks turn right onto 1st Street Place NW.
Home is second on left.
