Catching Up With Fairbees

Catching Up With Fairbees
Thursday, April 16th, Fairbees
had their Chicken Ranch
Special with Gary Sanders
calling ALL Singing Calls.
What a fun nite - Gary Sanders
had lots of tidbits to pass on
during the nite about the
Chicken Ranch. Miss Mona
(Carol Hooper), Melvin P.
Thorpe ( Ken Hooper) and
Sherriff Ed Earl (Rick Goetz)
certainly added to the
entertainment of the night.
Melvin took over the
microphone during the dance
and went into a rage about the
Chicken Ranch and how
Callers were the ones
responsible for bringing
business to Miss Mona's house.
He wanted her closed down
and run out of town. However,
Miss Mona stood her groundSheriff Ed Earl upon

hearing of the shouting,
immediately took control of the
situation and stood up for Miss
Mona and her business. He
then proceeded to run Melvin
right out of town, never to
darken our doors again.
A round of applause for our
great celebrities of the nite who
make it a memorable time!

students will be graduating from our
mainstream lessons. They have worked
hard and will be a good addition to our
square dance community. The Council
will be conducting the candlelight
ceremony that evening. The graduation
ceremony/dance will take place from
7:30 - 9:30. The ceremony will start at
8:00pm. Dance will be 7:30-8:00 and
resume after the graduation ceremony.
Students, please feel free to invite your
family this evening to see you graduate.
The evening will be a fun, easy level dance
with no plus during the evening. This is
the nite we honor our students.
Now that graduation is in sight, it's time
to start thinking about your square dance
future. We invite all of you to join
Fairbees . If you are interested in joining
Fairbees, please let Keiko, our treasurer,
know so she can order a club badge for
you in time for graduation. We are a fun
loving, dedicated group of dancers. We
have themed dances throughout the year.
Our dues are $20.00 payable by the
month. Fairbees have been in existence
for 58 years - the oldest active club in
Texas - says a lot for Fairbees. We have
several members who have been with the
club for 20, 30, 50+ years. Garland Smith
will be our Club Caller in 2016. We will
still have guest callers throughout the
year. Questions about our club, talk to a
member, if they cannot answer your
questions, they will refer you to someone
who can.
Beginning May 28th- June 25th,
Garland will be doing a mainstream
workshop, 6:45- 7:30. prior to our club
dance The workshop is open to members,
new graduates, visitors.
Members as usual are free to all lessons.
Visitors from other clubs or graduates
who have not joined the club will pay the
fee of $5.00 per nite, which will also
include the club dance of the evening.
Beginning July 9th, Garland Smith
will teach Plus Lessons at Fairbees. Please
mark the date on your calendar so you
can participate - Fairbees this is your
chance to reinforce your plus dancing.
Buffet will be 5:45 - 6:45
Tables in Center will be
cleared for Round Dancing at
6:45 - food will continue to be
available. Round dancing is
scheduled to start at 7:00p.m.
Fairbees, mark
your calendars
to help on this
day - we need
all the help we
can get so
everyone can
enjoy the
evening.
Hopefully you have been thinking
about your raffle item(s) for the
Anniversary dance. Remember
they can be homemade, gently used
or new. They can include square
dance clothes in good condition.
Please bring them to a dance or
bring them the Saturday morning of
the dance. It is too challenging to fit
items in at the last minute, the nite
of the dance.
