The Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre is seeking a part-time Welcome Desk Team Member (20-25 hours weekly, generally
weekday mornings, during the school calendar year, commencing Fall, 2015). The Welcome Desk Team Member greets
people as they enter the Centre, and as such it is important to instill a welcoming first impression. It is an important role
in setting the tone for the members’ experience. Interaction with the general public and our members in providing
information and responding to inquiries, concerns and requests about programs products and services is a key aspect of
this position.

Job Summary
 Respond promptly to customer inquiries
 Data collection, data entry, set up new member accounts
 Support in the following areas: Volunteers, Gallery, Outreach, Marketing, Social Media, Promotions, Special
Events
 General administrative and clerical support
 First responder emergency care
 Program Space readiness and Kitchen Management
Skills Required:
Customer service, patience and grace under pressure, attention to detail, initiative, proficiency with computers and
software (Microsoft Office, Database Management), keyboarding skills, good communication and listening skills, strong
people skills, a demonstrated sensitivity to vulnerable sector needs (seniors, individuals with special needs and families),
a team player, ability to learn quickly, adapt to change and be flexible.
Training / Certification:
 High school diploma
 Post Secondary Education desirable
 CPR and First Aid Certification (Training provided if needed)
