Mrs. Peggy Ann Floyd
Peggy Ann Floyd, age
72, of Blue Ridge, passed
away Friday, March 27,
2015 at her home. Mrs.
Floyd was born Oct. 5,
1942 in Fannin County
to the late Manual and
Gladys Thrasher McVey.
She was a member of
Sugar
Creek
Baptist
Church. She retired as
Deputy Tax Commissioner
of Cherokee County, GA.
Mrs. Floyd is preceded
in death by her husband,
David C. Floyd; daughter,
Becky Floyd; brothers, Bill
McVey, Lloyd McVey, and
Pete McVey; sisters, Inez
Smith and Louise Stanley.
She is survived by her
sons and daughters-in-law,
Curtis Floyd of Atlanta,
Dan and Kim Floyd of Ball
Ground, and Dean and
Wanda Floyd of Canton;
brothers, Edward McVey
of Jefferson, NC, and
Kenneth McVey of Ellijay;
sisters, Jean Slater of Blue
Ridge, and Sue Bates of
Canton; 6 grandchildren
and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were
conducted Monday, March
30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from
the Akins Funeral Home
of Blue Ridge Chapel.

Kent Samples officiating.
Music was provided by

Larry Cox, and Sugar
Creek Baptist Church
Choir. Interment followed in the Sugar Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary “Madeline”
Patterson, age 88 of Blue
Ridge, passed away April 1,
2015 at the Life Care Center
of Copper Basin. Madeline
was born Feb. 6, 1927 in
Fannin County, GA to the late
George Davis and the late Mae
Grantham. She was a member
of Mid Way Baptist Church.
Madeline enjoyed bingo, gardening, and flower beds.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Lloyd Patterson.
Survivors

Marine Corps retired Veteran
serving his country during the
Vietnam War. He was a member of the McCaysville Gospel
Tabernacle.

Sr., age 85, of Blairsville, GA,
formerly of Blue Ridge, GA,
passed away Friday, April 3,
2015 in the Stonehenge Assisted
Living in Blairsville, GA.
Mr. Thomas was born on
Sept. 7, 1929 in Fannin County,
GA to the late Eugene Manning
Thomas and Mary Ethel Adeline
Sullivan Thomas. He owned
and operated Thomas Insurance
Agency in Blue Ridge for many
years. He was a member of Blue
Ridge First Baptist Church, and
a United States Army veteran
having served during the Korea
Conflict. Mr. Thomas was an
avid fisherman and golfer, having had 7 holes in 1 during his
lifetime.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his
wife, Betty McDaris Thomas
of Blairsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Manning
Thomas, Jr. and Cindy Renee
Thomas of Blairsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy
and Dwight Kay of Blue Ridge,
Patricia and Sid Swartz of

in state at the church for one
hour prior to the service. Music
will be by Imogene Stewart and
Debbie Jones. Pallbearers will
