Relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the breathtaking Sierra Wilderness as
you participate in diverse programs that foster personal, creative and
spiritual exploration.
Nestled within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, Far Horizons
offers a tranquil community for personal and spiritual fulfillment.
Running Wednesday evenings through Sunday lunch, most of our
programs are priced at only $100 per person.

Three home-cooked, vegetarian meals are served daily. Far
Horizons strives to serve locally grown, organic and/or sustainably
farmed produce from the nearby San Joaquin Valley. Meals are
eaten outdoors under the trees and big sky. All your meals are
included in the price of your lodging (see below):

Pine Hill Lodge: Cozy, private rooms feature two twin beds, and a
nearby bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets.
$45 per night per adult.
Chalet Rooms: Slightly larger rooms feature on-site bathrooms,
with each two rooms sharing a bath and a fridge in a common area.
$65 per night per adult.
Chalet Apartments: Excellent for families and friends, they include
sitting room, private bath and kitchen. Sleeping accommodations
for 4 to 6 people.
From Southern California: Take Highway 99 North to Visalia, take
the Highway 198 East exit, and immediately exit onto Plaza Drive
turning left onto Road 80. Travel toward Dinumba for 24 miles. At
American Avenue (a “T” intersection) go right (East) 2.5 miles to
Cove and then left (North) 4 miles to Highway 180. Go East on 180
to Big Stump Park entrance.
At Big Stump Park entrance: It is 1.4 miles further to the
Generals Hwy “Y” junction. Bear right (South, toward Sequoia
Park) and set your odometer. You’ll take this for exactly 9 miles to
our sign. Turn right and proceed 1.5 miles, taking every right turn,
and follow the signs to Far Horizons camp.
$85 per night per adult in the apartment.
Cabins: The most private option. With beautiful views, private
decks, and bathrooms. Many feature fireplaces and full kitchens.
Each has special charm, sleeping 2 to 6 comfortably. Perfect for
couples, families and friends.
$110 single occupancy; $30 for each additional adult. We prefer to rent our
cabins to parties of two or more.
Lodgepole: Our largest cabin is two stories with a large fireplace,
kitchen and bathtub. Perfect for larger groups – we prefer to offer it
to groups of 4+.
$150 single occupancy. Additional adults $50 per night.
Children 5 and under stay free at Far Horizons.
Kids 6 - 17 are charged a flat, all-inclusive rate of $35 per day.

Things to know when visiting...
Please furnish your own bedding (rental bedding is
available for $20). We recommend that you bring
towels, sleeping bags or heavy blankets, flashlight,
sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, insect repellent, and personal
items. Bring musical instruments, songbooks, campfire
vocals. Telescopes and binoculars are great for amazing
stargazing.
Far Horizons is a peaceful place with no electricity.
There is hot water, gas lighting and housing with
kitchens that have gas stoves and propane refrigerators.
Wireless connections and cell phone reception is
available at various National Park facilities nearby. Far
Horizons is also alcohol and drug-free, and tobacco
smoking is allowed only in private vehicles.
Far Horizons operates in partnership with Giant Sequoia National Monument
on a non-discriminatory basis.

Camping: Five camp sites, nestled among a pine grove, are for tents,
trailers and campers. A shared bath house has hot showers and
flush toilets. There are no RV dumps available.
From Northern California: Take Highway 99 South to the Highway 180 East exit (near Fresno). Just after you pass the tiny town
of Minkler, 180 takes a sharp left -- turn there. Follow this turn
and stay on 180 to the Big Stump Park entrance.

About Far Horizons
Today, Far Horizons offers a convenient and vital natural
setting for exploring nature, group activities, quiet reflection,
and just fun. While the programs offer group participation
and interaction, there is always plenty of free time to utilize
our location as a “base camp” for exploring the National
Monument and Park, for hiking, horseback riding, swimming
and many other outdoor activities.

in diverse programs and workshops. Founded as a nonprofit educational organization in 1954 by GV and Mary
Hull, Far Horizons was created to provide a connection to
nature, and an opportunity to experience personal growth and

Nestled in the majestic wilderness of Giant Sequoia National
monument, Far Horizons is located midway between Los
Angeles and San Francisco, 7200 feet high in the Sierra, an
hour east of Fresno.

Visiting Far Horizons
If this is your first visit, please keep in mind that we are
located in high altitude wilderness with large boulders, trees,
rushing streams, starlit footpaths and wildlife. Be prepared
for hot or cold, sun or rain as you pack and bring clothing for
relaxing, hiking and swimming.
