McBride, Interim Director Our 65th summer of supervised recreational and instructional programs for the children enrolled in the Farmingdale School District. Additional information regarding all summer programs is available by contacting our office at (516) 694-0916 or by email at [email protected] (Subject: Summer) AFTERNOON SWIM Supervised swimming, for children entering grades 4-12 as of September 2015 at the Farmingdale High School Pool. Monday through Friday, from 3:00-4:00 P.M. (Monday, June 29th to Thursday, July 30th) Registration: Monday, June 29th. $30.00 registration fee per child is required. RECREATION PROGRAM Supervised recreational programs for children entering grades 1-7 as of September 2015. Activities include: organized games, recreational activities, arts & crafts, trips, special events, and more. Recreation Programs meet Monday through Friday, 9 A.M to 1 P.M. beginning Monday, June 29th and concluding Friday, July 31st at the following Recreation Centers. Grades 1 - 7 Albany Avenue Saltzman East Memorial Northside Woodward Parkway TINY TOT SWIM INSTRUCTION Swim instruction for children ages 1 to 5, at the Howitt Pool. Children must be accompanied by their parent, who will be required to go into the pool. One hour classes to include group and individual instruction for a 1 week session. Classes meet daily from 12 Noon to 1:00 P.M. as per registration. Session dates available at registration. Registration: In the Howitt West Gym Friday, June 26th...................2 P.M. to 7 P.M. $30.00 registration fee per child/per session is required. Registration: At the center you plan to attend, Friday, June 26th........2 P.M. to 7 P.M. Information regarding activities will be available at each of the centers. $40.00 registration fee per child is required. Please Note: The Howitt Pool may be closed due to inclement weather and/or other factors beyond the Summer Program's control. SWIMMING INSTRUCTION GRADES 1-3 Swim instruction for children entering grades 1 to 3 as of September 2015, at the Howitt Pool. One hour classes, which include instruction and free swim, beginning Monday, June 29th. Classes are organized by ability. Session dates and times available at registration. Registration: In the Howitt West Gym, Friday, June 26th....................2 P.M. to 7 P.M. $30.00 registration fee per child/per session is required. GRADES 4-9 Swim instruction for children entering grades 4 to 9 as of September 2015, at the Farmingdale High School Pool. One hour classes, which include instruction and free swim, beginning Monday, June 29th. Classes are organized by ability. Session dates and times available at registration. Registration: At the FHS Pool, Friday, June 26th....................2 P.M. to 7 P.M. $30.00 registration fee per child/per session is required. THEATER ARTS A multidimensional and highly creative program designed for boys and girls entering grades 4 through 12 as of September 2015. Theater games, characterization, improvisation, dramatics, vocals and the technical aspects of the theater are explored in this program. Program is scheduled to meet Monday through Friday, 9:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. beginning Monday, June 29th. The Junior Program (Grades 4-7) is scheduled to meet in the Saltzman Elementary School Auditorium. The Senior Program (Grades 8-12) is scheduled to meet in the High School Auditorium. Registration: At Farmingdale High School Monday, June 22nd*...............4 P.M. to 7 P.M. $175.00 fee per child due at registration. *PLEASE NOTE THE DATE AND TIMES FOR REGISTRATION. 2015 Tentative Summer Recreation Program SEWING INSTRUCTION For children entering grades 4-12 as of September 2015. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Howitt School. Class times available at registration. Registration: In the Howitt West Gym, Friday, June 26th...................2 P.M. to 7 P.M. $25.00 registration fee per child is required. SELF-SUSTAINING SUMMER PROGRAMS These programs are provided through the Farmingdale Youth Council Summer Program, and require a fee that includes medical insurance. Registration for all self-sustaining programs is limited, and based on a first come, first served basis. Self-sustaining programs may be canceled due to insufficient registration. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING PROGRAM For boys and girls entering grades 8 & 9 as of September 2015. This volunteer program is offered to those who are seriously interested in employment with the Farmingdale Youth Council Recreation Programs. This program is one of the prerequisites for employment as a Recreation Group Counselor. Participants will assist Recreation staff as assigned by the Center Supervisor. THIS SUMMER'S SELF-SUSTAINING PROGRAMS INCLUDE: Registration: At Farmingdale High School Pre-Kindergarten (Children entering Kindergarten in September 2015) Summer Music Program (Grades 5-12 as of September 2015) Registration forms for these programs may be obtained at all of The Farmingdale Schools, The Farmingdale Public Library, or by contacting our office at (516) 694-0916. Wednesday, June 17th - 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. FOR WOODWARD PARKWAY & SALTZMAN Thursday, June 18th - 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. FOR ALBANY AVENUE & NORTHSIDE $40.00 registration fee per child is required. ***TO REGISTER FOR C.I.T. PROGRAM*** PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION FOR THE SUMMER PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAM IS BY MAIL ONLY. NO WALK IN OR DROPPED OFF REGISTRATION FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS PROGRAM. BOTH THE REGISTRANT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST BE PRESENT. REGISTRANTS MUST BRING TWO (2) LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FROM EITHER A COMMUNITY MEMBER, RELIGOUS GROUP LEADER, TEACHER, COACH, ADVISOR, OR EMPLOYER.
